He could still feel it now, the warm-wet slide of Ilya's tongue as he licked a stripe from the sensitive skin on Shane's palm to the tip of his middle finger, shocking a laugh out of him. The head-rush of feeling how quickly his cock hardened against the warmth of Ilya's bare ass, Ilya's full weight bearing down on Shane's hips. The heat of the blush traveling from his cheeks all the way down to his chest in response to the smoulder in Ilya's eyes.

Мой любимый, this is excuse to put sunscreen on my naked body, yes?

Shane gnawed at the memories like a dog with a bone, allowed himself to get lost in them until he felt physically sick, at which point he realized that he needed to switch lanes to avoid hitting the fawn, still unmoving, still unblinking.

After the Raiders v. Metros accident, Shane comes back different.

When Shane reluctantly agreed to kick off his MLH career with a photoshoot, he imagined, somewhat vaguely, a hockey uniform and some dramatic lighting on the rink. Shoot a few pucks. Pose intensely. That kind of thing.

The marketing agency, apparently, had other ideas.

A plane flight gone wrong, a desperate crash landing, and suddenly hockey’s two brightest young stars find themselves stranded in the heart of the Canadian wilderness. With no way home and no rescue coming, they only have one hope for survival -- each other.

The Centaurs’ plane makes an emergency landing in Ottawa, and in the moments before impact, Ilya calls Shane thinking it might be the last time they ever speak.

While the world waits for official updates, Shane races to the airport and finds the other WAGs trapped behind police barricades, watching smoke rise over the runway. The moment the players emerge alive onto the tarmac, Shane is the first one over the barrier.

Ilya did not want to die. It’s a natural thought as the plane seems to fall around him. He’s twenty-nine, he does not want to die. It’s the intensity that surprises him, the desperate need clawing at his heart, pressing against his ribs, surging in his throat. He’s choking on it, aching with it, burning with it.

The plane is falling around him, and he wants to live so badly it’s all he can see.

    -

Or, The Plane Crash nearly goes as wrong as possible when Shane's game is cancelled, and he sees Ilya's messages in real time. To make matters worse, Ilya spends fifteen minutes falling out of the sky and mourning all that he would never have. Or, Ilya's pov of i pray this love changes me (this grief will) ft. the very confused but supportive Centaurs

“How are you not fucking terrified?” His whisper almost sounds angry. “You almost died in a plane crash, and you aren’t freaked out at all. It’s the fucking—the anniversary of it, and you want to get on a plane?” Ilya’s blocked most of that day out, shoved that moment of terror and grief into a little box in a dark corner. He didn’t know it was today. And now he does, and the box unlocks.

Shane put God on a back burner sometime between the ages of eleven and twelve. It was around that time that he barely stepped foot off the ice. His dad would joke that he was born with skates on, while his mother cursed out a grown man for a bad play. God, religion, faith came second to the rush of adrenaline as he flew on the ice.

It takes seventeen years and the love of his life being dead for twenty-eight minutes to relearn how to pray.

Or, Shane's game is cancelled and he reads Ilya's would have been last messages in a tiny hotel room with JJ and Hayden at his side.
