Shane's concussion recovery is pretty clear: nothing too strenuous, nothing that will up his blood pressure, and nothing that will make him too excited. This leaves certain... gaps... in his normal routine. (In which Shane is horny and Ilya is trying his best.)

  2. “So,” Ilya says, dragging the word out. He’s swiping at non-existent crumbs on the counter, avoiding his eyes. “You have dinner at parents on Christmas, yes?” “Yeah.” Ilya nods. “I can house-sit while you are away. Make place pretty, if you have decorations. Make it less boring.” Shane’s eyebrows fly up. “What? You don’t want to come with?” Finally, Ilya looks up at him. Hesitantly, he asks, “You want me to come with?” Frowning, Shane says, “I– yeah. Yeah, of course. You think I invited you here just so you could spend Christmas alone?” Looking away, Ilya shrugs. “I am intruder here, Hollander. You have family. I do not. Makes situation… difficult, maybe. You forget the world thinks we are rivals.” “Not difficult,” Shane says immediately. “You want to come, you’re coming.” Or: Ilya's in Montreal alone during the week leading up to the Winter Classic. Shane doesn't let him spend Christmas alone.

  3. When they had ordered a round of cheap tequila, one of them had questioned Shane briefly. “How old are you, Rook?” “Old enough,” Shane had answered truthfully, but it wasn’t his fault that The Short American hadn’t specified on which side of the border. The drinks kept pouring in after that. Scott Hunter convinces Shane Hollander to join the team at a bar the night after the All-Star Skills Competition. He hadn't meant for Shane to get as drunk as he did.

  4. Ilya Rozanov is the thorn in Shane's side. He's rude, cocky, stressfully perceptive, and his stats are the only ones better than Shane's in the whole OUA. Even worse, they play on the same team, and the only person who might beat Shane out for the C next year is Rozanov. Ilya and Shane are so at odds they can't even manage to complete a stupid challenge at Playoff Camp without making fools of themselves and, according to Hazy, getting cursed. It's frustrating and embarrassing, until it becomes clear that the curse is very very real and it becomes horrifying instead. For the next six weeks (at least) Shane is stuck by Ilya's side, unable to go more than a few feet away without unbearable pain. Now, they somehow have to pull off going to class, winning the playoffs, and not killing each other, not to mention keeping their secret from their friends and teammates. Shane is so fucked.

  5. Shane doesn’t know exactly what led to this, but right now, Ilya’s lips are pressed to his nice and rough, and his hand is on the side of his face. He hears a soft growl coming from the back of Ilya’s throat like he’s frustrated… Wait. Ilya is kissing him. And now he’s not. It’s taking a lot for Shane to ignore the fact that he’s pretty sure he’s mad that Ilya isn’t kissing him anymore. “I- I’m sorry…” Despite English being Ilya’s second language, Shane isn’t sure he’s ever actually heard him stumble over his words. He looks… scared? Another thing Shane isn’t used to. “No. Don’t apologize. Just… do it again.” -or- Shane and Ilya are the same college team. They are also (healthily competitive) best friends. So, what happens when they're watching a movie on Shane's bed and Ilya cannot hold his feelings in anymore.
