  1. “What the fuck are you doing?” Rozanov shouts, which is just insulting. He’s mourned three of his teammates and now she’s tackling him in his bedroom.

Obviously Jackie’s here to kill him, but he’s looking her dead in the eyes and still can’t see a murderer. Talk about a stereotype.

Or: Jackie Pike’s a serial killer making her way through Boston’s roster. Ilya Rozanov is harder to kill than she expected.

  2. The best time to do it, really, would be just before Rozanov headed back to Moscow. His American friends would think he’d headed home early, and his family in the old country would believe he had stayed in the states longer. The confusion would delay the manhunt a precious few days, enough for Shane to be sure he was well away from the fallout.

So that’s when he would do it, he decided. He would kill Rozanov after one of them won Rookie of the Year.

    -

Shane has successfully gotten away with murder twice by the time he meets Ilya Rozanov, and he’s convinced the man will be his perfect hat trick. After all, such a powerful obsession with Rozanov must go beyond sexual. It must be the urge to kill. It has to be.

  3. The day after getting kicked out of the playoffs by the Centaurs, Hayden Pike shows up for a post-series debrief along with the rest of the Metros. They are greeted by a roomful of cops, a recording of a late-night 911 call, and an empty chair where Shane Hollander should be.

  4. Kip Grady is on a voyage of discovery, backpacking and hitchhiking his way across the United States. He’s read all the literature, of course, on the dangers of hitchhiking, but this is not something that he’s very concerned about. After all, Kip always makes sure that he’s packed everything he could conceivably need in his backpack. But when he’s picked up by handsome Scott Hunter, it turns out that he is not the only one with skeletons (literal and metaphorical) in the trunk of his vehicle.

or - the chances of two serial killers in a car are slim but never none.
