    Wyatt lightly punches him in the shoulder, and Ilya opens one eye to see Wyatt holding out his phone towards Ilya’s face.

    Ilya’s eyes grow wide, a sick feeling settling in his stomach.

    The match barely ended two hours ago, and already, there’s an article questioning if Shane had tripped on purpose. If Shane had tripped to let Ilya win.

    Ilya’s initial reaction is that of extreme insult. As if he needed Shane Hollander to let him win.

    But then…fuck. Shane.

    Ilya stands up suddenly and crawls over Wyatt (and steps on his feet none too gently in the process). He strides as fast as he can to the front of the bus towards Coach Wiebe.

    He leans down and murmurs to his coach, and gets a look of complete understanding.

    “As soon as we get to the airport, go,” Wiebe says. “We’ll see you in the morning.”

He tries to steady himself, but his hands are trembling so badly that they fumble over Shane’s body, checking for any sign that he’s okay. A pulse. Anything. His head is racing, his chest tight with panic. When he finds the pulse, fast, irregular, but there, Ilya exhales shakily. But it doesn’t help the wave of dread crashing over him. - Shane passes out during sex, and it freaks Ilya out.

He stared at the message for a moment further, the words blurred from his unshed tears, before violently shaking his head to clear it and pressing his thumb on the delete button. Except that's not what he did. Shane watched in horror as the message went from just a draft to something he actually sent. He sent it. He sent it. OR Instead of deleting the message in episode 2, Shane accidentaly sends it, prompting an entirely different ending to the entire scene.

They finally face one another at a pre-game conference, and the Russian man at Shane’s shoulder acts as though nothing is wrong. After the conference, Ilya corners Shane in a bathroom to antagonize him further and pushes a little too far. When they finally face each other on the ice, Shane does something he has never done in all his years in hockey: he throws a punch.
