  1. It’s Ilya who brings it up. He’s in his kitchen, making himself some kind of soup that Shane is already searching for recipes of—it’s called rassolnik. Leaning with one hip against the counter, he asks, “What about your sex dungeon?”

“I don’t have a sex dungeon,” Shane says, both grossed out and intrigued by the idea.

“The apartment, moya lyubov,” Ilya replies, fondness sheathed in annoyance. He slurps loudly, laughing when Shane makes a face at him over their video call. “What will you do with the apartment?”

    “Sell it, maybe.”

    --

Or, Shane doesn't sell the secret-sex-apartment building. He starts renting it out, and somehow ends up with a gaggle of Russian tenants-turned-friends, several stray cats, and one very spoiled hamster.

  2. "Ilya was a genius. Like, actually.
The next match between Ottawa and Montreal was played in Ottawa in three weeks. On April 1st.
    April Fool’s Day.
And Ilya, the ultimate prankster, had the perfect idea.
He just needed to bring Shane on board."

The prank goes exactly as planned. The team never sees it coming.

  3. Set during The Long Game

When Troy first joined the Centaurs, Ilya hadn't exactly been thrilled and in the moment he had decided to save his phone number under a not so flattering name... which he never changed, that is until Troy, almost a year later and by now close friends with Ilya, finds out and demands for his contact name to be changed. Ilya eventually agrees but of course he doesn't make it easy for Troy, who will have to win a bet in order for his wish to be granted.

Feat a small conversation between Ilya and Shane in chapter 1 and a slight side dish of social media-twitter reactions in chapter 2

  4. Kip sometimes teases Scott for how he prefers to stay off social media. But after some of the responses to his very public coming out, it's a survival mechanism more than not caring. Even Kip is less connected online than he used to be.

So the first sign Scott has that something had happened is when his coach catches him after practice — he stayed late to help two of the rookies — and tells him that management wants to talk to him as soon as possible.

Ilya nearly loses it when Shane demonstrates the ‘plow’, his legs over his head and ass fully suspended in the air. He swears he pops a vein when Shane is in a reclined middle split—now that’s just cruel to his psyche. However, nothing could’ve prepared Ilya for— “The downward dog,” Shane announces their last stretch of the day, “A classic that I’m sure all of you know. An easy pose right before our cooldown.” Sure, the pose itself was easy enough. So easy, in fact, that Shane gets into the position without second thought. He’s faced down, and his ass was flexed upwards, and his cheeks were flushed red, and well, fuck. Great, if it wasn’t obvious enough that Ilya was having a mental hard-on at the thought of Shane Hollander on his fours in a very different context outside of the yoga studio, then the thin material of his gym shorts surely betrayed him. Or, Ilya attends a yoga class for the first time.
