Devour was a good word for what Ilya wanted to do to Shane. Eat. Devour. Rolled off the tongue. But he hated that he could not think of an English word to convey the resonant, drilling consonants ringing in his brain when he kissed Shane with depth and hunger bordering on cannibalistic. The consonants in the Russian word that meant an act between consume and gobble up, with hard zh and rolling r sounds, were a crunch so delicious he could chew on it forever. Sometimes Shane felt like that. Like the crunchiest, most delicious hard candy in the mouth. God, the stupid fucking English. or Ilya thinks in English. With Russian subtitles.
