Shane and Ilya's first photoshoot post-coming out. It goes as well as you'd expect it to. ___ Then Ilya whispers, right into the shell of his ear, “Now we look like penguins.” And it’s not at all what he expected to hear. He makes a strangled sound, his hands flying down to cover Ilya’s own on his waist. “What?” Ilya rocks them side to side, small and deliberate, like they’re waddling. “Penguins are romantic. They mate for life. You are my penguin.”

Ilya’s perspective of a few scenes from “something you can build” (and one scene that came after). Featuring: intense yearning for your committed long-term partner, supportive but confused himbos, Yuna Hollander’s momager energy, Scott realizing he’s a side character in someone else’s even crazier story, and a quick trip to California for Very Boring, Extremely Casual, Not-At-All-Romantic Reasons (aka, the epilogue).
(Companion piece! You will need to have read the rest of the series for this to make any sense—here be spoilers!)

Heated Rivalry (TV)

“I think we tell world now,” Ilya declared grandly, pacing across Shane’s living room in Montreal. “Big announcement. Maybe fireworks. Maybe airplane banner over city—” Shane, sitting curled on the couch in sweatpants, nearly choked on his tea. “No,” he said immediately. “Absolutely not. No fireworks. No banners. No announcements. I’m not letting you hard launch us into oblivion.” --------- Five times they soft launch and one time they hard launch, or Ilya is given free rein to soft launch their relationship.
