    “Is what you want?” Rozanov says, so goddamn nonchalant. For a second, Shane hates his guts.

    Shane fully intends to say ‘yes’. He needs to forget what happened, and even more so, he needs Rozanov to forget what happened. He can’t have Rozanov telling anyone that Shane Hollander got a hard-on in the locker room showers.

    He intends to say ‘yes’, but what he says instead is, “No.” He swears he opened his mouth and formed the word ‘yes’, but that’s definitely not what came out. He tries again, hoping it was just some Freudian slip, but what comes out is, again, “No.”

    Soulmates can't lie to each other. Somehow, this fixes absolutely nothing.

    After the tuna melt debacle, but before Rose, Ilya makes the reckless decision to go to a gay bar to take his mind off of Shane. When photographs get published, Shane has a realization and devises a plan: he's going to ask Ilya Rozanov to marry him.

    Ilya's going through enough without things he can't have being dangled in front of him. He needs to figure out a different way to avoid going home, because eventually Shane Hollander will realize what Ilya already knows: Ilya isn't worth what Shane wants to do for him.

He watches as Marleau stands up and apologizes to Shane — Ilya has no idea if it was a clean hit, but from Marleau’s face, he’s pretty sure it was accidental. And then Ilya waits for Shane to get up. He doesn’t move. Marleau glances at him as Ilya skates up to Shane, putting a hand on his shoulder as he says, “Hollander?” When he gets no response, he says it again, this time louder and with a steadily rising sense of dread. “Hollander, come on, get up.”
