Summary:

In another life, Irina Rozanova dies. In this one, she takes twelve year old Ilya and runs.

They arrive in Calgary, Alberta, with two passports and no luggage. Years later, hockey still carries Ilya toward Shane Hollander, but this time, they don't meet as rivals and instead build something neither of them is ready for.

But Ilya has learned never to trust warmth in the middle of winter.

The cold always comes back.
