   • cliff casually destroying shane's life with one text and walking away oblivious

   • Why do I keep doing this to myself?
   • there are no actual magic wishes involved but i think from shane's pov he might wonder if there was
   • like shane probably spends SOME time wondering if this is a monkeys paw situation
   • ilya: wow it's so weird i can't remember my greatest rival at all!
   • meanwhile shane in the background is just trapped in wordless despair
   • yet somehow i think this fic is mostly lighthearted and a bit soft
   • probably because it's an ilya pov fic and we only see the iceberg of shane's emotional saw traps through the fog

   • this entire thing is handwaved by a doctor in this fic with 'idk man! brains are weird!' so keep that in mind lmao

When Ilya is concussed during a game, he experiences a weird gap in his memories. He has completely forgotten two people he should apparently know: his longtime rival Shane Hollander, and a regular hookup named Jane.
