Old Shane chuckles sadly, running a hand through his hair. A glint of something on his finger catches Shane’s eye. A ring? He’s married??? Something twists in his stomach. If he’s married, that must mean— No, he won’t let himself think it. Rozanov is just a— a fuckbuddy. It doesn’t matter. It’s just— nothing. It’s just nothing. OR In a twist of fate (or cup magic), Shane Hollander gets visited by his older self, causing a crisis of feelings.

When they’re alone, Ilya pops a foot up on the bench of his stall, typing his shoe. It makes his shorts stretch obscenely around his thighs. Shane swallows. Is this a sex thing? If so, Shane will have to shut it down (regrettably). He will not be caught hooking up in the locker room, even if it is with his husband. “So, how was first practice with the Centaurs, rookie?” Ilya asks. Shane’s brows knit together. “I’m not a rookie, Ilya.” Ilya looks at him. “Try again,” he says. Oh. Oh. This is definitely a sex thing, even if it’s not the kind of sex thing Shane had originally thought. He takes a moment to get into character. “I mean, it was great, Mr. Rozanov, it’s so cool to be playing with some of my biggest heroes.”

Shane leans his head against the elevator wall, wanting nothing more than to cry. His eyes are red rimmed, he knows, and the pressure behind them is building. They didn’t even kiss. He just has to wait until he’s back in his hotel room. Then he can turn on the waterworks, maybe turn on a bath and sink beneath the surface so he can’t feel the hot tears slipping from his eyes. The elevator dings at his floor. He reaches in his pocket for his keycard, but doesn’t find it. He searches his other pocket, then the pockets of his jacket. Nothing. Or, Post episode two, Shane loses his key and has to go back up to Ilya's room. And has a panic attack about it.
