Shane was starting to sweat a little with nerves, second-guessing his plan, not feeling nearly as brave as he did when he made the decision to do this at dinner.
“What is it?” Ilya asked as he opened the box. He held up a small plastic remote control with two buttons, turning it in his hand, trying to find an indication of what it was for.
Extremely gratuitous anniversary dinner smut.

Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have conquered the NHL, but their biggest challenge yet is waiting for them at home: a four-month-old named Wyatt who has Ilya’s eyes and Shane’s nose.
From the terrifying ordeal of six-month vaccinations to the heartache of missing first words over FaceTime, Shane and Ilya navigate the messy, exhausting, and perfect reality of fatherhood. But as the season wears on and the milestones fly by, Ilya realizes that being a legend on the ice is no longer enough.
The "Long Game" is over, and Ilya is finally ready to claim his prize—not a trophy, but the life waiting for him when the buzzer sounds.
