Summary:

"The Ottawa fucking Centaurs," Cliff spits, barely even aware of the words coming out of his mouth. "Eight years. Eight goddamned years, we've been building this team! We've made it to the playoffs for years now, we have a fucking Cup! You're the captain, you know this team would follow you anywhere. The fucking kids look up to you! And you've been in Boston since you came from Russia. You have a house here, you host get-togethers for the team, you know all our WAGs and families. And you want to leave this for fucking Ottawa, for the worst team in the league? What the hell, Ilya?!"

---

Or: Before Ilya Rozanov leaves Boston for the Ottawa Centaurs, he invites Cliff Marleau to his house for dinner. Cliff has known Roz for eight years and has been his best friend for almost that same length of time. None of that has prepared him to learn that his captain has, apparently, been in a secret relationship for the past eight years. With Shane Hollander.
