Summary:

Don’t ask me questions, he’d say to him, and don’t wonder. For wondering what Ilya was thinking about when he was staring up at Shane’s freckled face was the same as wondering why he needed to breathe - a pointless wonder with an obvious answer: without it he’d die.

The missing intimacy scene in between Ilya's breakdown in Shane's arms and Shane's eventual departure.
