The Big Bad Wolf

by rozanova

Summary

Bridgeford is a small, quiet town. Too dull to hold someone like Ilya, a restless young alpha always chasing something sharper, faster, louder. Too suffocating for Shane, an omega who’s spent too long under watchful eyes, tired of being seen as a social case just because he's an omega.

One last summer. That's all they both have to live through before they're both off to the big city. That was the plan.

Until fate pulls a few strings, and suddenly, two complete strangers feel drawn to each other in all the wrong ways.

OR: a modern, dramatic fairytale of two soulmates finding each other

Notes

HELLO!
My beautiful friends, welcome to another fic! This time I wanted to try writing a/b/o for the first time, and I just beg you to be patient with me as this is my first omegaverse fic. I'm still learning and if there's anything wrong or you have any suggestion about it please do let me know.

A few things about this fic, just to clear it up:
This fic is set in an imaginary town called Bridgeford, near Ottawa. The timeline is also a little fucked up as it's 2026 and Shane and Ilya are only 18 so have that in mind as well.

A few CW for this chapter only: mentions of suicide, mentions of abuse, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, drug date/roofie is being used as well, mentions of vomiting!! please proceed with caution, if any of these are not your piece of cake, take care of yourself there will be more fics to come.

As I said, I am very, very excited about this work, I'm very passionate about it so I hope that if you read it you can leave some comments and kudos because those mean a lot to me!!! I hope you enjoy chapter 1 my beautiful freaks!

Chapter 1

Summer 2026

Bridgeford, ON, Canada

Bridgeford is a place not many know by name. Even though it sat quietly, only two hours away from Ottawa, it's not kind of place you notice, unless you're looking for it... or unless you took the wrong exit off the highway.

It wasn't a big town either, by all means. Compared to Ottawa, it basically looked like a village. There were no big flashy signs, no loud clubs, no fancy restaurants. There was barely even an old wooden sign on the entrance that just said, plain and simple: Welcome to Bridgeford. Although if you asked the locals, that's the least warm welcome sign they had ever seen. If you did end up in Bridgeford, even by accident, you wouldn't see much. There was one Main Street that was the heart and soul of the town. A single, long stretch lined with houses and small local shops. The buildings stood shoulder to shoulder, close enough that there were barely any gaps between them. Most were two stories—shops on the ground floor, living spaces above. Brick and painted wood dominated the street, in soft, weathered tones: creams, faded greens, deep reds that had dulled just enough to feel lived-in.

Bridgeford wasn't really an ideal place for young people. There wasn't really much going on. They had one central park, a few playgrounds for the really young kids, two diners: Michelle's and Crosby's Diner, one cinema, a few local cafés and... that was pretty much it. If you were young, you had very limited options on what to do on the weekends.

It was a quiet place, by all means. Too quiet sometimes.

Too quiet for a young alpha called Ilya Rozanov.

Ilya's parents migrated to Canada from Russia when Ilya was a toddler, so even though he prides in calling himself Russian, he never really was, to be honest. All his life, all he knew was Bridgeford. Same old streets, same old people. Same old scents everywhere around him.

Ilya wanted more.

He always had bigger dreams for himself. Ilya was driven by more than old buildings and boring coffee shops, more than three square feet of parks, ever since he was a teenager. He was driven by music. And by speed.

The music came from his mother's side. Ilya loved listening to his mother, Irina, play the violin ever since he was young. When they moved here, she even took a part-time job teaching kids in a local gymnasium how to play violin on the weekends. She never really did it for money; she did it out of pure passion and love for the music. And Ilya could swear his mother had the voice of an angel, too. Angel sent from heaven. Since Ilya was a baby, he would never fall asleep without his mother singing him old Russian lullabies to fall asleep. He didn't need them much as he grew older, but he would secretly sneak up on her while she was cooking, or cleaning up in the kitchen... and she would be singing.

Irina taught Ilya that life was a song, that life is music and that everything should feel like music if it's right and beautiful.

But over the years, as Ilya grew, and started to present as an obvious alpha, he noticed his mother's voice...quieted. She wouldn't sing anymore on random afternoons, and she rarely ever picked up her violin anymore. Her usual scent, the one Ilya loved the most and the only thing that would calm him down, lillies, had begin to shift into something... not pleasant. Like his mother was withering away.

Nine-year-old Ilya didn't really notice it much at first. If Irina said it was the flu, he believed it.

But twelve-year-old Ilya didn't let himself be fooled by such an obvious lie. Not when he slowly started to show signs of puberty, and his alpha traits, and when they already had classes in school that taught them what it means when an Omega starts to lose its usual scent. It was distress, sadness, depression even.

All his life, Ilya was told one important thing about being an alpha: alphas protect their pack. They are natural leaders, they are strong, powerful protectors. Even at twelve years old, Ilya was aware that he needed to do as much as he could to protect his pack, well, his family. He didn't care that he had two other alphas in the household, his brother Alexei and his father. To be honest... they didn't care much either. It seemed that protecting the pack, protecting the only omega in the house, was the least of their concerns.

But Ilya tried. Ilya always wanted to protect his family; he wanted to be the true definition of alpha.

But poor, little Ilya... he was too tiny. He was too young for everything that crashed onto his small back. He wasn't ready for any of it.

He wasn't ready for his mom to ever stop singing. He would try and get her to sing, even when her eyes were hollow and swollen from crying all night. He would try to make her pick up her violin and play his favorite piece: Moonlight Sonata. He didn't want to admit to himself that maybe his mom would never sing again.

Until her voice went quiet for good. Until he finds her, what it seemed like to him sleeping in her room. It wasn't until he heard the ambulance roaring down the street and tons of unknown people storming into his house that the realization hit him that... maybe his mom's angel voice was never coming back.

Ilya felt like failiure already, at the age of twelve. It didn't help that his father and brother reminded him of what he was every single day.

As he grew older and as he started to resemble his mother more and more, his father stopped calling him by his name and just used the term "son of a bitch" on him. And he meant it, quite literally.

Ilya hated his father, from the bottom of his heart. It wasn’t typical for a young alpha to feel that way about his elders, about stronger alphas. It went against everything they were taught. But then again, it wasn’t typical for an alpha to drive his omega into killing herself either. Because that’s what his father did.

The sacred mark- that's what they called it. The bond between alpha and omega, the bond so strong that no earthly power could really break it.

But Grigori Rozanov did. Not only did he break it. He stomped, spat, and shat all over that mark. When he was the person who should be Ilya's role model in what alphas should be like, he was the exact opposite. He was the picture of what Ilya would never be like, he promised himself that.

But how would you feel if you were shat on by your so-called family every single day? If you were belittled and reminded of how much "you are just like your mother"?

And not in a good way.

By the age of fifteen, Ilya decided that music was definitely his path and his way out. It was his escape. Maybe not the classical, like his mother, but Ilya found love in guitar. Electric guitar, especially. He saved up money for a year, stealing away from his lunch money, so he could buy himself a guitar for his birthday. It wasn't anything special, it was second hand kind of deal, and it was really run down.

The body was scratched to hell, the paint chipped along the edges like it had been dropped more than once. One of the tuning pegs was slightly loose, forcing him to adjust it constantly just to keep the strings from slipping out of tune. The strings themselves were old, rough against his fingers, worn down like they should’ve been replaced a long time ago, but he couldn’t afford new ones. Not yet at least... maybe he could save up until his next birthday.

But even this, it made Ilya feel the happiest he's ever been, ever since his mom died. It was something to cling to when things in the house got rough. He would go to his room and plug it in and just strum for fun at first, until he started learning chords.

The first song he learned how to play fully was About a girl by Nirvana. It took him several months to master it, but once he did, he felt so proud of himself. He wanted to show it off, he would open the window just so the neighbors could hear him play, imagining he's already a rockstar, just like he wanted to be.

But his father wasn't having it. He didn't want that "dumb, stupid, noise" in his house. One day, the fight escalated so much that Grigori almost grabbed his amplifier and tossed it out the window. He threatened Ilya that if he ever heard him play guitar in his house, he would disown him. That he had had enough of his mother's stupid music for life, and he wasn't going to let Ilya be some stupid music-obsessed weak alpha. Rozanov's bloodline didn't hold space for alphas like that.

Ilya wasn't going to give up on music, ever. So he found an alternative. One of his friends, Wyatt, who was a bass player, said that Ilya could come over and practice in his garage. There he met a couple of other cool guys, much more popular guys, Troy and Cliff. Troy played guitar as well, while Cliff was a drummer.

Slowly but surely, they started coming to Wyatt's garage every day after school and practicing there. They wouldn't really call themselves a band, nothing close to that, but they were really good pals, and they worked really well together.

Along with his best friends, he found something else... Troy was the one who introduced him to weed. At first, it was the smell that dragged him into it, it honestly smelled.... really nice. The effect it had on him was even better. For the first time in forever, it felt like his head was at peace. It was another escape from the cruel reality, other than music.

His next passion came on two wheels and was much faster and much more reckless than the previous two. He was always a big fan of motorcycles, he even had little Lego models he collected as a kid, still displayed proudly on a shelf in his bedroom. He remembered once he got a motorcycle calendar when he was younger, and refused to take it down for nearly two years, not caring that the dates were not correct anymore; he would still change the page with every month, just to see the new motorcycle on his calendar.

His friend Harris had one. His parents bought it for him, for his 17th birthday, and even though Ilya felt insanely jealous because those kinds of gift were only luxury imagination for him, he still felt very grateful that Harris let him ride it a few times on empty parking lots.

On his 19th birthday, Ilya finally got himself one. It wasn't much, but it was his baby. Honda Navi, in color 'blood red'. He loved the name, and he always said it proudly. It wasn't as fast or as luxurious as the one Harris had, but it was his first motorcycle, and he loved it dearly.

Then, the races started. Because what else does a young, bored alpha do in Bridgeford?

Every weekend, somewhere between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, they gathered at the edge of town. Where the pavement stopped and dirt road stretched ahead to the distant mountains behind Bridgeford. That’s where it happened.

They’d line up in a rough row, engines running, the sound filling the air in a way that felt too big for a place like that. People shouting over it, laughing, pushing each other around a bit. That nervous kind of energy where everyone acts like it’s nothing, but you can tell it’s not.

Then someone would step in front, wave any kind of fabric that they pretended was a flag, and suddenly drop it. And they were off.

Dirt flying everywhere, wheels spinning, engines screaming as they pushed forward. They thrived on the adrenaline, thrived on every possible danger that could come up if they even moved their little finger in the wrong way, thrived on the thick smell of gasoline filling the air.

Ilya wasn’t the best. His bike couldn’t keep up most of the time, especially against the bigger ones. You could feel it struggling sometimes, like it wasn’t built for this kind of thing.

But he didn’t stop.

If anything, it made him push harder.

He never gave up, no matter how many times he slipped and fell, how many bruised and scratched marks he got, he was not going to give up.

Because this is what made Ilya Rozanov feel alive when everything inside him was rotting away.

~

On the other side of this small town, Shane Hollander lived what seemed to be idilic life. Well, to everyone other than Shane Hollander.

Unlike most of the guys in his friend group, Shane was an omega. Ever since he presented as one, he tried to hide it.

Desperately.

He could swear that he was about to overdose on suppressant pills. Can you imagine that title in local news? A 14-year-old omega overdosed on suppressant pills.

But he was willing to do anything if it would make his scent not so obvious, if it would make his heats go away, and if it would stop the people around town staring at him as if he were some freak of nature. Which he honestly felt like.

He shouldn't really. Male omegas were not a rarity anymore, but that didn't mean that they were well respected in social circles. Whenever he had to say he was an omega, he was met with pitiful eyes of people and the saddest "Oh."

He fucking hated that. Because Shane knew that he wasn't a weak, little omega that everyone thinks he is. He's smart. He's strong. His parents taught him how to be a good person before anything else. He was polite. He helped people.

He was his parents' only child. And giving that he was a product of two betas, which was already rare enough - for two betas to give birth to an omega - he was seriously their pride and joy. He wasn't spoiled, not at all; he was taught that everything comes with hard work. And Shane really was a hard worker. Top of his class, valedictorian in high school, best in any sport he played, spoke Japanese fluently because of his mom's descent, tutored other kids to earn some spare money.

And yet, any time people met Shane Hollander, they all had that same stupid look in their eyes.

Poor, little omega.

Shane was sick of it. He was sick of people looking at him and treating him like he was some lost cause. He was more than that, he knew it, he knew he had it in himself.

He wondered if people in Ottawa were like that. Surely not. People there were probably not so close-minded as people in Bridgeford. There are many male omegas in Ottawa, it must be more acceptable there. He couldn't wait for this summer to be over, he was finally going to start university, he got accepted into the first (and only) uni he applied for, and he was going to study law. He promised himself that he is going to be successful one day, that the whole world will remember the first male omega lawyer, being Shane Hollander. He is especially going to prove it to people in his hometown, the same people who laughed at him or showed pity.

But for now, he has to survive one more summer here. Just one summer. That can't be that difficult, right?

Shane decided to focus on the little friend group he had. It consisted of Hayden, his best friend since dipers, and another beta in his life. His friend Rose, who was an alpha, but a book example of a normal alpha and what alphas should be like. His friend J.J, who was another omega like him and the one who understood all his 'sufferings', the one person Shane could really complain to when things got rough in his head.

Other than this little friend group that he had and cherished dearly, as of recently, Shane had another important person in his life.

Liam. His boyfriend. For what little experience Shane had (or better said, none), Liam was a definition of perfection.

Liam was handsome. Not in an overwhelming, make-your-heart-stop kind of way, but the kind of handsome you could look at for a long time and never get tired of. He was nice, polite, bread and butter kind of boyfriend. He held door open for Shane, he bought him his favorite chocolate bar whenever they met up, he wrote him little notes during last few weeks of high school and snuck them into Shane's locker, he texted Shane 'good morning' and 'good night' every day, he was always there for Shane when he felt like he was getting anxious and nothing seemed to be helping, not even nesting.

Liam was a beta. Which, honestly, Shane was really happy about. Because he couldn't really deal with asshole alphas of this town. Given that Liam was a beta, he had no scent really, which was probably the only downside. Because, contrary to Shane's brain, Shane's body craved scent. It wasn't even him thinking straight; it was his body, his primal instincts needing it to feel calm and safe. He hated the way his own instincts worked against him, the way his body kept reaching for something he didn’t even want.

Stupid omega brain.

He thought Liam's kisses, hugs, and maybe the smell of his perfume would be enough. But an omega couldn’t be fooled. Not like that. Not when it came to something as important as a nest. Liam gave him one of his shirts, covered in his perfume. Seriously...as if he washed it in it. Covered. The scent was strong, artificial, almost overwhelming in the worst way. Shane put it in the nest, adjusting a few pillows and blankets around it, throwing in a few more stuff that were his nest's regulars, and then got in. But the moment he did his stomach flipped because it was just... wrong. His chest tightened, nausea rising fast and sharp, like his body was trying to reject it completely. He felt like throwing up because this scent was a fake one and the omega inside him knew it. He didn't want fake scents; he wanted a real scent, a calming one.

A low growl tore out of his chest before he could stop it and he grabbed the shirt, hurling it far across the room. Away from his nest. It was contaminating it and Shane didn't want that. His omega didn't want his nest contaminated.

You know how people always say - there are two wolves fighting inside of me - well Shane had that, quite literally. It felt like there were two different Shanes inside his head. One who thought things through, who believed in logic, in control, in the life he wanted to build for himself. The one who knew what was right, what made sense. And the other Shane was the omega. The creature that was driven by instincts and primal nature, the nurturing creature who relied heavily on scents to ease his nerves, the creature that had one goal in life: Alpha.

Shane wanted to punch that version of himself so bad. Because it's so stupid! He wasn't a little breeding machine that everyone saw omegas as, it's not the 18th century anymore, and omegas evolved past that.

Liam was enough. Shane strongly believed that. The omega inside him will have to learn to live with it, whether he wants it or not. Because Shane was never going to be stuck with some stupid alpha in his life, begging to be mated and bred, he was never going to sink that low in life and be that pathetic.

Liam was nice. Liam was enough.

Liam's kisses felt... nice. Not wow, not something to make his head spin and his heart jump, but it was nice, really. His touches were soft. Really soft. Liam had beautiful hands. And he knew how to touch Shane to completely unravel him. Compared to Shane, Liam had one previous ex, which already made him experienced enough in Shane's book.

They've been dating for 3 months now, and Shane finally let him get to third base. It was honestly mindblowing. Shane, who relied on surviving through his heats with nothing but his imagination and his old, overused dildo finally felt pleasure from someone other than himself. But he was still not ready for the real deal... not yet at least. It was still too soon for that. And Shane was thankful for having a boyfriend with enough brain cells to understand that and respect all his decisions. Liam was really perfect.

So why did Shane's omega feel like suffering every day? What is it that he needed more?

Shane wasn't sure if he wanted to find out.

Bridgeford, ON, Canada

Do you believe in fate?

You know, like when people say that the stars aligned or everything fell into place in the right time.

Shane didn't. He was never the one to believe in anything he couldn't physically see. But damn, did the otherworldly forces test his patience tonight.

He wasn't even sure why he agreed to come here. Hayden dragged him into it, really. Shane was never the party type. He could count on fingers on one hand how many times he's been to a party. But it was Hayden's girlfriend, Jackie's birthday and Shane was physically dragged to her house. The last summer vacation of their lives has just started Hayden and J. J nagged that Shane needs more fun in his life before he disappears to Ottawa and 'forgets all about them'. As if that's ever going to happen.

So here he was, stuck in the middle of what used to be the living room before a bunch of so-called alphas and betas ran over it and turned it into their own dance podium. Shane was stuck against the wall, trying to avoid the sea of pheromones (because most forgot their patches, or were just too drunk and horny so they took them off, which is very reckless of them). He was very happy with his ginger ale for the rest of the evening. He was a little sad that Liam didn't come with him, so he could at least have someone familiar with him, because Hayden was stuck to Jacki's hip and J. J honestly just forgot all about Shane.

He managed to slide his way through the ocean of heavily drunk boys and girls trashing over the place to what they called music. It was honestly just noise for Shane, and very unpleasant one. He heard the name AC/DC but he had no idea what it meant, it meant nothing to him.

He found the kitchen, finally, where it was still crowded but not as much as the living room. Two guys, whom Shane didn't recognize from their high school, were standing by the kitchen island, making it into a makeshift bar.

"Hey there, buddy! You need something?" One of them said to Shane. They were older. They looked older than them. They sounded older than them.

"I uh..." Shane fumbled, nervously looking for a way out to just get to the fridge on his own and grab a new can of his ginger ale.

"Come on, what can I get for you? We have gin here, vodka, some whiskey, beer..." the guy continued pushing.

"Uh, I'll just... can I get another ginger ale from the fridge please?" Shane's voice was too obvious in how nervous he was, and how much he's not used to socializing at parties like this. Way too obvious. The guy looked at him again, but there was a slight spark in his eyes, that wasn't easy to miss. His brown eyes turned into more amber color. A very clear sign of an alpha. And it wasn't even just about the color change of them, him looking at Shane completely changed too. Like Shane was a silly little lamb and the guy in front of him was a big bad wolf.

"Are you sure you only want ginger ale? You know I can make you a mean gin and tonic to loosen up a little." The guy said.

Shane chewed on his lip nervously. He wanted to disappear, he honestly felt like running to his house and getting into his mom's bed like he was a little boy all over again. People warned him, about mean alphas, and of course, he had encounters with assholes before, but it's always the same. His heart rate always betrays him.

"Can I please just get the ginger ale then? Please?" Shane said. He couldn't help the voice break on that second 'please'.

The guy smirked. Shane hated that God-awful alpha smirk. He knew what it meant. They all had the same smirk.

"Sure, little one." He purred and reached behind him, grabbing the can from the fridge. "Let me just get you a cup or something, okay?"

"Oh, no, no, you don't have to I just.." Shane tried to say but the guy was already gone from in front of him, going over to the counters. He came back a few seconds later with an open can of ginger ale and a cup.

"Here you go."

Shane barely managed a quiet “thanks” before turning away, gripping the can and the cup and bolting out of that kitchen. The sea of people now looked so much better compared to that kitchen. Shane really hated it here.

He found himself back in the corner he previously was, surrounded by loud music and sweaty bodies. The pheromones were going insane, mixed with alcohol and scent of weed in the air, it was honestly the most disgusting thing that Shane ever smelled. He took a few sips of his ginger ale, trying to drown it out. Then a few more.

It wasn't long until the whole can was gone, which honestly was a shock because Shane never drank anything quickly in general. It was as if his hand that held it and his brain were not in communication.

His head felt... a little buzzy too. Like the loud sounds and the smells didn't bother him anymore. He shrugged it off in the beginning, thinking that maybe he just needed this to relax a little.

But then, something shifted. It started with his fingers tingling first. A strange numbness, like they didn’t fully belong to him anymore. He flexed them around the can, frowning again, but the feeling only spread: up his hands, into his arms, feeling heavy and sluggish.

His chest tightened next. It wasn't so dramatic, it just felt like... it was getting difficult to breathe. Like his breaths weren’t going as deep as they should. Like no matter how much air he pulled in, it didn’t quite reach where it needed to.

Shane swallowed, unease curling low in his stomach.

"No." He mumbled to himself, the panic starting to rise inside of him. Because to Shane, there was only one explanation for this feeling.

Heat. Or pre-heat that is.

It's impossible. He had one a month ago. It's too soon; he couldn't be experiencing one. But this feeling... it felt like it. Because Shane didn't know any better.

Shane pushed himself off the wall, a little too fast. The room tilted violently, the floor shifting under his feet like it wasn’t stable anymore. He grabbed onto the doorway next to him to steady himself, heart racing now, breaths coming quicker, but still not enough.

He needed to get out. He needs to breathe. He can't breathe.

But walking felt wrong. His legs were heavy, uncooperative, like they didn’t want to move the way he told them to. Each step was uneven, clumsy, his balance off just enough to make everything harder than it should’ve been. People pushed past him, and he pushed past people, every knock into him feeling like the one that was going to tip him over, and he's just gonna fall right then and there. The scents hit him again, stronger now, mixing and twisting in a way that made his stomach churn.

It was too much. Everything was too much. He needed to get out. He felt like he was going to throw up.

By the time he finally spotted the door, it almost didn’t feel real. Just a blur of shapes and light, something distant that he had to force himself toward step by step, even as his legs threatened to give out beneath him.

He barely managed to get it open.

Hot July air hit him instantly. It stung in his lungs as he took his first proper breath, it felt like it was cold December night and the air felt so cold in his lungs. Shane stumbled out onto the porch, the door swinging shut behind him as the noise dulled slightly, replaced by murmurs of people standing around the house in small groups, like they're not even paying attention to someone almost passing out on the porch.

He pressed his back against the wall of the house, and his knees finally gave out. He hit the ground harder than he meant to.

Didn’t even try to get back up.

"Brea...brea..." he tried to mumble to himself, but he didn't even recognize his voice anymore. He didn't recognize anything and anyone around him. His eyelids started to drop slowly.

In the back of his head, the sane Shane knew that this wasn't just heat. That the guy put something in his drink. But the omega Shane panicked because he thought he was going into pre-heat, despite having one a month ago and despite the suppressants he was taking religiously. He wanted to run away, but he couldn't even manage to get back up to his feet.

Where is everyone? Where are his friends? Where is Liam? He needs Liam right now, he needs Liam to..

"Are you ok?" A voice spoke above him. He tried to look up, but his head only lulled side to side, his look hazy. He could see the figure in front of him, but it was a blur. A messy blur. He only knew it was a man, by his voice and by the shape of the figure.

Shane opened his mouth to talk, but no sound came out.

"Hey, hey, can you hear me? Are you ok?"  The guy crouched down in front of him, closer now. Shane felt a hand on his shoulder, firm but not rough, giving him a small shake like he was trying to pull him back into focus.

Shane blinked slowly, his head spinning worse now, his stomach twisting hard. "I.." he tried but his voice just wasn't working.

The guy didn’t wait.

“Okay, okay...let’s get you up, yeah?” he said, voice low, steady. “You shouldn’t be on the ground like this.”

Hands moved to help him, one under his arm, the other bracing his back, trying to lift him up carefully.

But the moment Shane’s body shifted—

Something snapped. A violent wave hit him out of nowhere. He choked, a broken sound tearing out of his throat before he doubled over, his body reacting before he could even think, and he started throwing up. Violently. It came in harsh, uncontrollable bursts, his whole body jerking with it, breath hitching between each wave like he couldn’t catch it properly. His hands trembled against the wooden porch, fingers gripping uselessly as everything inside him seemed to come up at once.

“Hey, hey, it’s okay, it’s okay,” the guy’s voice cut through, closer now. A hand moved to the back of Shane’s head, steadying him, keeping him from collapsing forward. The other rested against his shoulder, grounding, holding him in place without forcing anything.

“It’s alright… just let it out. You’re okay.”

Shane barely processed the words, too caught up in the violent heaving, the burning in his throat, the way his body felt like it was turning against him completely. It felt like an eternity before he stopped throwing up. His whole face was red and felt swollen, tears streaming down his cheeks, and drool going down his chin. If he were in the right state of mind, he would call himself disgusting.

Shane’s body sagged forward, exhausted, breath coming in uneven, shaky pulls as he tried to recover. His head felt even heavier now, his limbs weak, barely responding.

"You're okay, you're good... feel any better? Did you have a bit too much to drink, huh?" The voice next to him spoke. Shane tried to focus on the voice, but the scent hit him first.

The scent. Alpha scent.

Shane’s body reacted before his mind did. Because he should’ve panicked. He didn’t know this alpha. Didn’t know who he was, what he wanted, or what his intentions were. For all he knew, he could’ve been just like the one who put him in this state in the first place. Every logical part of him should’ve been screaming.

Run. Get away. Don’t trust him.

But his body betrayed him when his shoulders loosened up a bit. His breathing eased only a little. Because this scent was... good. Soothing. Nice Alpha.

Musky, but not heavy. Spicy but not burning. And a hint of something soft in it like... vanilla? Yes, that sounded right. Spices and vanilla.

His fingers curled weakly against the wood beneath him, his head still lowered, resting too close to the other man as he tried to steady his breathing. He didn't understand why he did it, and his mind wasn't completely back yet to even process it, it was only his primal instincts kicking in at this point.

"Let's get you somewhere safe, okay? Can you hear me?"

Shane heard him. Heard him, but he couldn't speak. He just nodded.

"Good... can you stand up?"

Shane shook his head.

"Do you want me to carry you?"

Shane nodded.

The guy proceeded to slide his arms under Shane's back and the other under his knees, picking him up as if he was a doll and not almost two-hundred-pound adult man.

Strong alpha.

Shane's head lulled to the side, absentmindedly pressing into the neck crease of the man who carried him. The scent was even stronger here, of course it was, his nose was pressed against the scent glands on patch-free alpha.

Shane hated how much this scent calmed him down. It shouldn't. He shouldn't depend on an alpha scent to ease his nerves.

"Can you tell me your adress?" The Alpha spoke, his voice low and firm as he also realized - the omega in his hands was scenting him. Shane couldn't speak. Not because he didn't want to, but because he genuinely couldn't. It felt like two seconds until he passed out completely.

"Omega. Tell me where you live." The alpha spoke again, voice lower.

Shane fucking hated being called Omega, like it was a label someone stuck on him. If Shane were in his right mind, he would bare his teeth at the man in front of him, threatening to never call him that again.

But this Shane... he just passed out.

~

Morning in Bridgeford came quietly for everyone except Shane Hollander.

People already forgot that the day before even existed and moved on with their lives quietly. It was a hot summer day, as expected, coffee shops were already putting out tables and chairs for old people who got up early to come and drink their morning coffee, car engines were heard down the street as people rushed to work, and children could be heard playing outside.

But inside... it felt like a tornado swallowed Shane and then spit him out somewhere far away.

Pain hit him as soon as he was aware of himself, even before he opened his eyes. It wasn’t just a headache; it was a deep, pounding throb that felt like it was coming from inside his skull, like every heartbeat slammed against his brain a little too hard. His stomach twisted uncomfortably, sour and heavy, and his mouth tasted awful, dry and bitter of bile like he hadn’t had water in days.

He groaned softly, shifting on the bed... until he realized he wasn't on his bed. This bed wasn't as soft as his was, and he definitely wasn't inside his nest.

The smell hit him next.

The smell was soaked in everything around him. Into the sheets, the pillow under his head, the air he dragged into his lungs with every slow, aching breath. It was warm, heavy without being suffocating. It smelled slightly musky, with a hint of certain spices mixed into it. But at the same time, it smelled...warm and welcoming.

Shane stilled.

His foggy brain took a second too long to catch up, but when it did, it hit him all at once. This was an alpha scent. Unprotected alpha scent.

His stomach twisted, a weak, delayed reaction. His fingers curled slightly into the sheets as his heart picked up, not fast enough to be panic. He was in alpha's space. In alpha's bed.

Shane forced his eyes open despite the way the light stabbed straight through his skull. He squinted, blinking hard, vision swimming before it slowly started to focus again. And if for whatever reason he wasn't sure before, now he was pretty damn sure that he wasn't in his own home.

This room was nothing even close to his. The walls were darker and way too cluttered for Shane's liking. Posters were taped up unevenly, of different rock bands from what Shane could guess with little knowledge he had. A couple of them overlapped like whoever put them up didn’t care about neatness as much as filling the space. There were scuff marks on the wall near the door, like it had been kicked open more than once.Clothes were scattered everywhere: on the floor, hanging off the back of a chair, half-folded on a dresser that looked like it hadn’t been properly organized in years.

On a cluttered desk in the corner stood a helmet. A dark blue motorcycle helmet. Next to it, a pair of gloves. Worn. Used. Definitely not for show.

Shane's eyes moved over the room, scanning every possible way to get out as quickly as he could, not yet noticing the alpha this room belonged to.

It wasn't until he managed to sit up straight, despite the obvious ache in his head, that he noticed him. This man... boy, actually, laid asleep on the floor next to the bed Shane was in.

The guy—no, the alpha—was sprawled out on his back, one arm bent awkwardly under his head, like he used it as a pillow. He wore nothing but a pair of loose sweatpants, the fabric sitting low on his hips, his torso completely bare. And he looked so... relaxed. For a person who slept on the floor, probably the whole night.

Shane’s brows pulled together faintly, confusion cutting through the fog in his head.

That didn’t make sense.
It really didn’t make sense.

Alphas didn’t give up their space. Not like that. Not when there was an omega involved, especially not one that had been in their bed. If anything, it was the opposite. Alphas are territorial, possesive, that's what Shane has been taught his whole life.

His fingers tightened slightly in the sheets beneath him as his gaze flickered between the bed and the floor again, like maybe he was missing something obvious.

This alpha had every opportunity last night.

Shane still wasn't sure that this alpha didn't fully take advantage of him, but the fact that he ended up sleeping on the floor and not next to him was... definitely shocking.

But if Shane wanted to escape this, he didn't have time to sit and wonder who this alpha is and what his intentions were. He reeked of alpha. And he needed to get out and wash that scent off of him.

As soon as Shane shifted toward the edge of the bed, the alpha's eyes opened up, shooting him a look right away.

Blue eyes. Ice blue eyes. If his scent was the warmest in the world, his eyes were like ice daggers piercing through your soul.

"You're up." The man on the floor said, not as a question but more as a statement. Shane's inner omega instantly felt small in this man's presence, feeling like his voice would be too weak if he decided to speak.

"Are you feeling okay? You passed out last night."

"W-what..." Shane tried, feeling his pulse starting to spike up. "What are...who are you? Where am I?"

"Relax. You're in my home, Omega." The guy said, yawning loudly after it and taking one big, long stretch to wake up.

Shane frowned immediately. "Don't call me that ever in your li-"

"You passed out. I tried to ask you where you live, but you were already passed out. And I wasn't going to just leave you on the street like that..."

"So bringing me into an alpha home sounded like a much better idea?!" Shane said, a little too loudly. He honestly had no idea what he was thinking... speaking to an alpha like that. It was seriously unheard of, and giving the pain in his head and the panic and fear flooding his body, he had no idea where he pulled that from."

"Relax, Omega." The man said after a moment. Shane's irritation only grew more. "I'm not a fucking Omega, I have a bloody name!"

There was a growl heard from the alpha, who was sitting up straight now, a quiet growl, but the one deep from his chest. Shane winced, a little too audibly at the alpha's growl. He realized a little too late that his snappy tone was probably a bad idea.

"I would call you by your name, but I don't know it. So how about we take a few steps back, and calm down, okay?" He said, in a very firm tone, the kind that says that Shane was really starting to test his limits there.

"My name is..." Shane started, but his voice was weak and broken. He cleared his throat, then lifted his gaze up at the alpha in front of him now. "My name is Shane."

"Good." Alpha nodded. "See, that's much better. My name is Ilya, Shane. Nice to meet you, I guess."

Ilya.

Shane had never heard such a strange name before. Is this guy even from Bridgeford? He never saw him around... then again, Shane never really went out much, not if it wasn't for going to either school or library. A few times at the diner or movies, if he felt wild enough. But this guy... he didn't see him at school, that's for sure.

He never scented this alpha before. Because if he did, Shane was sure as hell that he would remember the scent as beautiful and calming as this one.

"Ilya.." Shane nodded. "I uh... why am I here? I mean.. I know that but... why did I pass out?"

Ilya stood up from the floor and went over the room, stepping on the clothes scattered across the room until he finally found a shirt to put over his head. He turned around and looked down at Shane. "My guess is you had a little too much to drink last night."

"I don't drink. I never had alcohol in my life."

"Well..." Ilya frowned. "Well if that's the case, my guess is that someone put something in your drink, you know... roofied it."

Shane frowns, his brows coming together. "Roof-.. what?"

"Roofied, you know," Ilya said casually.

"I don't know what that means."

Ilya sighed and ran his hand over his face.

Cute, clueless omega.

"It means someone drugged you, Shane."

Shane's eyes widened as broken pictures from last night started to come back. It wasn't a clear vision but he could remember the kitchen, two older alphas behind the counter, one looking very suspicious.

"Oh my.." Shane was too stunned to say more. If he panicked before, now it got multiplied by ten.

Suddenly, he was hyperaware of the situation he was in. He was in strangers house, after getting drugged at a party, he doesn't know where his friends are, his friends probably don't know where he is.... fuck where is his phone? He lost his phone! His parents... fuck, what are his parents thinking? They probably think he's been kidnapped or sold off somewhere or lying in some dark alleyway, unresponsive.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

“I have to go.”

The words tumbled out under his breath as he pushed himself off the bed too quickly, legs immediately betraying him. The room spun violently, his vision darkening at the edges, but he didn’t stop.

“I have to go—I have to get out...I have to go home, I...”

He staggered forward, nearly tripping over something on the floor, clothes, boots, he didn’t even know, his shoulder slamming into the wall hard enough to sting. Somewhere behind him, Ilya shiftes closer to Shane.

"Hey, hey, hey easy there, calm down.."

But Shane didn't listen. "I can't I... I have to go.."

“Wait...” The alpha’s footsteps were quick now, closing the distance. “You’re not okay, you can’t even stand straight, just let me—”

A hand touched his shoulder.

And Shane snapped.

“Don’t touch me!”

The words tore out of him, sharp and panicked, his whole body jerking away like he’d been burned. He stumbled back, nearly losing his footing again, but caught himself on the edge of a dresser, breathing hard.

"Don't... I can't... you're alpha and don't...don't touch me.." Shane tried to sound reasonable, despite his obvious panic. He could see the confusion on Ilya's face. "Look, thank you for help I guess but... I have to go... I have to go.."

“Just let me drive you—” the alpha tried again, calmer this time, careful, like approaching a wild animal. “You’re in no shape to...”

But Shane wasn’t listening anymore. He couldn’t. He turned on his heel too fast, nearly slipping as he bolted for the door, wrenching it open and stumbling out into the hallway. His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might actually kill him.
Down the stairs, too fast, missing steps, catching himself on the railing, almost falling. Then, finally bolting out the front door, running in the direction of his house as quickly as his legs allowed him to.

Far away from the problems. Far away from this alpha.

~

By the time Shane made it home, his legs felt like they might give out under him.
The house was too quiet at first, eerily quiet. Uncomfortably quiet.  And then the front door slammed behind him, louder than he intended, and everything shattered at once.

His mother was there almost instantly.

She looked like she hadn’t slept at all.

Her hair was messy, like she’d been running her hands through it over and over, her eyes red and glassy, face pale with exhaustion. But the moment she saw him, something in her expression snapped. Relief hit first, sharp and overwhelming, and then just as quickly, it twisted into anger.

Real anger. Yuna Hollander was not an angry person in general and Shane's only seen her this angry a handful of times. And every time it was really ugly.

She was on him immediately. checking his face, his arms, like she needed to make sure he was actually there, actually okay. Her hands were shaking. Her voice was louder than he’d ever heard it, words coming too fast, overlapping, breaking apart between relief and fury.

Where were you?
Do you have any idea...
I called everyone...
Your phone...
Do you know what I thought happened to you?

Shane could barely keep up.

His head was still pounding, his stomach still uneasy, his thoughts sluggish and tangled. He tried to answer, tried to explain, but the truth sat heavy in his throat, impossible to say.

I got drugged.
I woke up in some alpha’s house.

He couldn’t. So he lied. Not well, not convincingly, but it was all he had. He mumbled something about drinking too much, about losing his phone, about crashing at a friend’s place. The words felt wrong even as he said them, flimsy and weak, and judging by the way his mother’s face hardened, it didn’t help.

If anything, it made it worse.

Her voice rose, sharper now, cutting through the house as she yelled in a way Shane had never heard before. She didn’t believe him. Or maybe she did, but it didn’t matter.

He had scared her. That was enough.

Shane stood there and took it, shoulders tense, head slightly lowered, every word hitting harder than the last. He didn’t argue. Didn’t defend himself. He just stood there, letting her anger burn itself out, because a part of him knew he deserved it, even if it wasn't for the reason she thought.

Eventually, it ended the only way it could. With a sharp, final order for him to go upstairs.

And Shane didn't hesitate. He ran up the stairs as fast as he could, thankful that this whole thing was just over.

The first thing he did was head straight for the bathroom. He needed a shower. He needed to wash off the scent of this alpha off of him.

The shower turned on, water hitting his skin almost too hot, but he didn’t care. He stepped under it quickly, breath hitching as the heat spread over him, steam filling the small space. And then he started scrubbing. Hard. Not caring for the burning sensation on his skin, he just needed it off of him. Because that scent was everywhere now... in his hair, on his skin, clinging to him like it had become a part of him already.

He can't let anyone smell alpha on him. No one. Especially not Liam.

For the first time since they started dating, Shane was really grateful that Liam was a beta and not that reactive to scents.

Because if Liam had been an alpha…
If he could smell this...

Shane's chest tightened at the thought alone. He shook his head, trying to shake the thoughts out of his head and just complete this shower in peace. He went back to scrubbing even harder, until his skin burned, until it went raw and oversensitive under the water. Until he could almost conceive himself that it was truly gone.

Only then he stepped out of the shower.

He went and found comfort in the only place he could think of. His nest.

Shane didn’t even hesitate as he crawled into it, pulling the familiar blankets and pillows around himself, surrounding himself with his scent, with something safe, something known.

It helped a little. His body sank into it, tension easing just slightly, the tight grip in his chest loosening enough for him to breathe without it hurting.

The past twelve hours felt unreal. Even though Shane didn't remember much of it, the thought of what happened to him has been the most unreal experience of his life. He was exhausted.

But as he lay there, staring unfocused at nothing, his mind betrayed him. Because instead of settling, instead of quieting, it wandered back. Back to that room.

Back to that scent.

Shane’s fingers curled slightly into the blanket as the memory surfaced, unwanted but persistent. Warm scent. Spicy scent. Calming scent.

How easily it relieved Shane's tension. How it was the most beautiful thing he had ever smelled. How easily he could fall asleep to it now.

If only he took something to bring to his nest...

He felt like all his anxiety would go away if he only had that alpha's scent next to him.

That thought is what Shane feared the most in his entire life. He never wanted to be dependent on the alpha.

But it was insane just how easily that scent crept under his skin, into his head, and decided to just stay there.

July 6th, 2026

Bridgeford, ON, Canada

Shane Hollander didn't believe that everything that happened 3 days ago was not his fault. If anything, he couldn't stop blaming himself because everything looked like it was his fault. He should've been smarter than that, he was taught to be smarter than that, all his life.

Since Shane presented as Omega at the age of thirteen, his mom suddenly became overprotective over him...in a way that felt suffocating. It's not like she wasn't, Yuna was always protective of him, but this was different. Shane being an Omega carried so much more 'problems' with it, even if Yuna tried to mask them in front of Shane and say it's nothing. She would brush it off, saying that there will come time when he's a little bit older and she would explain everything to him, for now he needed to focus on his studies and focus on reading thousands of Omega 101 books she got for him.

The time came faster than Shane wanted to, really. He could still to this day remember the embarrassment and the cringe he felt when his mom sat him down to have the "birds and bees talk".

He wanted to die. Seriously. He could see on his mother's face that she wasn't thrilled about it either, but she still tried to make it... educational, you know. She sounded so off, as if she was a doctor trying to explain it to him, even though by then, just by being a hormonal pre-teen, he knew very well what sex meant and how it functioned. He was never interested in it, but he knew what it was at least. Bunch of his friends, guys who presented as either Alpha or Beta were already deep in it, already talking about... possible mating. Breeding. At barely 14. And Shane just wanted to slap and punch them all, because they genuinely had no idea what they were saying. They also had no idea how hurtful it was for an Omega to hear stuff like that being said, as if they were nothing but walking incubators for pups and it's the Medieval times again.

They are stupid. They have no idea what they're talking about. Shane was never going to listen to them, just as he wasn't really listening to his mom that afternoon, no matter how much she tried.

She tried explaining it to him.

"You know Shane, one day you will maybe meet an alpha... you will want to engage in...sexual intercourse with them and.. you need to know certain stuff about your body, about how it functions now... because being an Omega also means you can get pregnant, and you need to be smart about it."

Shane felt like he was going to throw up at the thought of that. Of course he knew that Omegas could get pregnant, but the thought that he could get pregnant made him sick to his stomach.

"It's fine to be scared about it Shane, it must all sound so terrifying to you now, but baby, we need to start preparing you and teaching you how to take care of yourself."

Take care of yourself.

Protect yourself.

That's all Shane's been doing his whole life. Protecting himself in the early ages from people finding out he's an Omega, until he's grown up enough to take care of himself. Protect his image by not allowing a stupid label to be pinned on him for life, because he knew he was more than that. Protect himself from the watchful eyes of hungry Alphas.

And if he thought his mother's sex talk was awkward, he wasn't ready for the first time she showed him how pregnancy tests work. He just thought in his head: God, strike me. Please. End this suffering.

And if he thought that's where his life ended, he definitely wasn't ready for his first visit to the doctor. Omega doctor is what he called it. Everyone else called it a gynecologyst. The place was awful. The clinic smelled too clean, like disinfectant which Shane just discovered wasn't one of his favorite scents in the world. It made his nose burn.

He sat in the waiting room with his mom, tapping his foot nervously on the floor. He wanted to look away, to distract himself, but the walls were plastered with posters about pregnancy, how important regular check up were, percentage of rapes for male Omegas, statistics about cervical and breast cancer, and holy fucking shit did young Shane feel overwhelmed. He wanted to bury his head between his knees and just sob. Because this can't possibly be his life now?

"Shane Hollander." A young nurse voice cut him out of his panicked thoughts. "Doctor Park is ready to see you now."

He looked at his mom with the same panic in his eyes, only to be met by her comforting, kind gaze. "It's going to be okay, sweetheart. It's just a check-up, okay? And I'll be right here, waiting for you."

"But mom...can't you come inside with me? Please?" Shane said, chewing on his lip nervously.

"It might make you uncomfortable. Baby, I promise, it's all going to be good. Now, go, doctor is waiting for you." Yuna said, rubbing his back gently. Shane looked down at his hands and took one deep, shaky breath before getting up and following the nurse to the exam room.

If he thought the waiting room was awful, the exam room was even worse. The exam bed looked like something out of a torture movie, slightly tilted and it had weird metalic poles on the side of it. There was a machine next to it, which Shane could guess is an ultrasound machine, which honestly was just another torture device for Shane. Next to the bed was a privacy folding screen that his mother told him about. Another thing Shane absolutely hated about this is that he has to get naked in front of this absolute stranger. Fuck, this was just awful.

Nurse came in right behind him, and he hated how relaxed she was. He gets it, this is just a normal, everyday routine for her. But if she was an alpha, or an omega, can't she scent how nervous he was? Can't she at least try to fake a little compassion for him?

"Mr. Hollander, you can get behind the screen here and undress from the bottoms down, then take a seat on the exam table. I'll take a few of your vitals for the chart and then the doctor will be here in few minutes."

Once again, Shane thought: God, strike me down!

Undressing was awful. He felt so exposed and so wrong, even though he told himself and his mom kept telling him that these people are professional and nothing wrong was going to happen. It still felt wrong.

He even felt awkward while nurse was taking his vitals, even though there was absolutely nothing to feel awkward about. It was just a normal temperature and blood pressure check. Still, Shane felt on edge.

When the doctor finally showed up, he could sense that it was an Omega doctor, which honestly made his nerves ease a little. But only a little. He was still scared shitless.

The doctor went on to have same kind of conversation as his mom. What it meant to be an Omega, if he knew what heats are, pre-heat, suppressants, possible pregnancies. Blah, blah, blah. Shane just wished he could tell her to shut up and get on with whatever she needs to do so he could get the fuck out of there and maybe never come back.

When she held up something that was shape of a duck bill, telling him that she will 'insert it inside him now' he wanted to scream. He wasn't that sure, but he thinks he even let out a little whimper and pulled his legs closed. Doctor told him that this was all normal, that he is scared and anxious, but she has to do it for the procedure. So Shane let her.

And, holy fucking shit, it was awful. It was painful and awful, and Shane started crying a little. Because he felt... disgusting. He is not meant for places like this, not meant to spread his legs open like this and just let everyone see his privates and do whatever they want to them, even if they're a doctor. Even so young, Shane knew that this is something he never wants to do again, never be in this kind of position again. And never come back to the doctor unless it's for a yearly check-up, just to make sure he's not dying from the amount of suppressants he's taking.

Once the exam was finished, the doctor still kept talking. Shane stared at the ceiling the entire time, jaw tight, fingers curled slightly into the edge of the table. It felt like she was just talking for a whole eternity. Judging by the size of his womb, he was expected to go into pre-heat in a next month or two, then his first heat couple days later. After his first heat, he could start taking suppresants.

But he had to go through the first heat.

"It hurts... mom!" Shane cried out, rubbing his sweaty forehead against his pillows. "Mom, please just come inside! I feel like I'm going to die, please!"

"Shane, baby, listen to me." Yuna said through closed doors. "I can't just come in there... this is what we've been talking about okay? I know it hurts but I promise it will be over soon, okay?"

It wasn't going to get over soon. It lasted for five days. Five...fucking...long...days.

His body felt like it was on fire the entire time. There was a strange gooey substance leaking down his thigh that Shane had no idea what it was. His whole body was sweating and no cold showers, no ice baths, no frozen towels against his body could help it. It felt like he was burning from the inside. He read in the Omega books what he should do, he read that he needed pleasure. But what fourteen-year-old boy knows what pleasure is? He tried rubbing against the sheets and it helped, a little bit, his first nest which was just a clumsy fucking mess of clothes and pillows stacked together was also a tiny bit helpful, but it still compared nothing to the fact that Shane really felt like he was dying.

He read in those books what was the only thing that could fully satisfy Omega in heat: Alpha. But that was one thing Shane never agreed to in heats. Never an alpha. Never. No matter how hard it got, how desperate he got... he was never going to agree to having an alpha just to satisfy his stupid primal needs, he's never going to agree with sleeping with someone he doesn't have a connection to just because.

So the years went on... Shane's heats became stronger and less bareable over the years. It was probably the cause of heavy suppressants he was on, so instead of getting his heats every three months, he agreed to only having them twice a year, one in summer and one in winter. That was probably the reason why his heats became so painful and agonizing to him, he dreaded that week when his heat was supposed to hit.

Hated it.

Now... what Shane never expected in his life is to become dependant on a scent. Or miss a scent. Because he never smelled anyone that smelled soothing enough, or beautiful enough.

Not until three days ago, at least. But he still blamed himself for everything: if he just didn't go to that stupid party, if he didn't take that drink from that older alpha, if he didn't pass out and had this guy- Ilya, carry him back to his house, let him lay in his bed, covered in his scent... maybe he wouldn't be like this. Maybe he wouldn't spend every waking hour thinking about him.

"Baby... are you listening to me?" Liam's voice rung and pulled Shane out of his thoughts. As he spoke, he reached over and grabbed hold of Shane's hand, tracing gentle circles over the top of it.

"Huh?" Shane shook his head quickly, looking up from the ground back to his boyfriend. "What, sorry?"

"Well, I was just saying that if you don't have plans for tomorrow afternoon, we could get our bikes and go ride to the lake, then maybe get back here and grab a dinner down at Crosby's?" Liam repeated, still lazily dragging his fingers over the back of Shane's hand. They went out for a joined run in the park and just finished it, so they decided to take a seat on one of the benches and spend some more time together since they haven't seen each other for... well four days. Liam wanted to, but Shane didn't, not until he was one hundred percent sure that the smell of alpha has washed off of him. Even if Liam can't smell it.

"Tomorrow?" Shane chewed on his lip. "Yeah, I guess tomorrow afternoon is fine. I planned on going over some of the material I started gathering for uni, but I guess that can wait.."

"Baby, no, if you had plans, I don't want to disturb them." Liam said, with an awfully polite smile. "I just missed you and I thought we could spend some time together.."

"No, no." Shane shook his head quickly. "Tomorrow is just fine. The vacation has just started so... I don't need to go so hard with the uni stuff right away."

"You sure about it?"

Shane smiled as Liam lifted his hand up and pushed loose lock of hair out of Shane's forehead.

"Yes. I'm sure... I want to spend more time with you this summer."

"Me too." Liam said and leaned in, pressing a soft peck kiss on Shane's cheek. "I missed you so much." He whispered and placed another kiss on his cheek. Shane melted under his touch, he really did, leaning his face closer to Liam's.

Liam took this as a sign and shifted closer to him on the bench, pulling Shane close by his hips. He leaned in again, but this time he tucked his face in the crease of Shane's neck, tracing the tip of his nose right over Shane's scent glands. He nuzzled there gently, and the contact alone was enough to make Shane shiver, shoulders tensing just slightly under it. Liam stayed like that for a second, close and warm, his breath fanning softly against Shane’s skin. Then he pulled back just enough to look at him again. His hand moved from Shane's hip and over his cheek, dragging his knuckle over Shane's freckles.

"Did I ever tell you how much I love your freckles?" Liam said in soft voice. Shane smiled again, closing his eyes. "Quite a few times."

"Well, I will say it again... they're the most beautiful thing I ever saw in my life... your face is the most beautiful face ever."

Shane felt his cheeks getting hotter. "Stop, don't say that."

"I mean it, honey." Liam whispered softly. "I fall in love with you all over again, every time I look at you."

Shane felt his eyes burn slightly, with tears. God, this man is the sweetest.

"Babe.." Shane started, but Liam cut him off by leaning in and pressing the softest kiss on his lips. Liam's hand shifted, coming to rest on Shane's jaw, guiding him a little as they adjusted the angle. The kiss lingered, slow and gentle, their lips moving against each other, pressing and easing, finding a rhythm without rushing it.

Shane loved kissing Liam. Liam's kisses were like... comfort. Like safety. It was never mind-blowing, but it was good, and Shane was really convinced that this feeling was enough to make him happy. Liam was enough.

Shane was the one to pull away from the kiss, but only an inch, pressing his forehead against Liam's. He let out a little sigh of relief and pulled his boyfriend closer to him. "I missed kissing you..."

"You wanna skip the bike ride tomorrow then and just come to my house and we can do more of this?" Liam said, a hint of teasing in his tone. Shane chuckled and pulled his face away. "No, you pervert! Bike ride sounds nice... we can ride to Lunar Falls."

Lunar Falls was one of those places everyone in Bridgeford knew about, even if there wasn’t much to it on paper. It sat somewhere between Bridgeford and Ottawa, tucked away just far enough into the woods that you wouldn’t stumble across it unless you were actually looking.

It took about thirty minutes to get there by bike, maybe a little more if you weren’t in a rush. The path to it was mostly dirt and gravel as it sat in the middle of the woods, on a small pond, with a little waterfall. The elders say that if you look at the pond and the waterfall from the sky, it's shaped like a crescent moon, that's why it was given the name Lunar Falls.

There wasn't much to do there, it was basically just nature, but for young people of Bridgeford it was the only source of fun on hot summer days. Even if their parents threatened them not to go swimming in that pond, they of course did. Water was freezing, most of the time, but that never stopped anyone from diving in head first.

For Shane, it wasn't that, he never found thrill in swimming in the pond, but he loved Lunar Falls for different reasons, because of how quiet it was. How he felt connected with the nature when he was there. Before he got with Liam, he would go there on his own, bring a book, or diary and just sit for hours there in peace and quiet.

Now that he had Liam, it was different. He still loved going there with him, but he can't just bring a book there and completely ignore his boyfriend for few hours. They'd sit on the grass or the rocks near the fall and cuddle to each other, sometimes kiss, sometimes just appreciate the closness.

"I can ask my mom to pack us some food." Shane spoke first.

Liam nodded. "And I'll get you your ginger ale and myself some coke, is that okay?"

Ginger ale.

Shane shut his eyes tightly at the memory, trying to stop his stomach from spinning violently. The memory was there, it felt like he was back at that party, with the same ginger ale in his hand that ended up drugging him.

He let out a shaky breath and pulled away from the hug. "Uh, maybe... can you just get me a water? Or sparkling water you know? I don't feel like drinking ginger ale on hot summer days like this you know..." he lied.

"But you love ginger ale, baby." Liam said with a pout.

"I know." Shane gave him his best fake smile. "But it's just gonna be hot tomorrow and... I think water will be a better choice."

"Whatever you say, you're the boss." Liam joked, giving Shane's cheek another kiss.

"Don't call me that."

Bridgeford, ON, Canada

"It's not a party, Shane!" J.J whined like a child. "It's just... some guys playing music, and that's it, just a casual hangout."

Shane raised his brows. "Just a casual hangout in someone's barn? I don't think so, J.J."

"Stop being like that!" J.J frowned. "So what, you got drunk during the last party, big fucking deal, you decided to live a little!"

Shane's whole body tensed. He was thankful for the scent patch he was wearing because if he didn't he feels like he would suffocate J.J with his distressed scent.

He hasn't told anybody about what happened. He lied to all his friends that he got drunk and according to him 'somehow magically stumbled back home and lost his phone on the way'. He hasn't told anyone that he spent the night in unknown alpha's bed.

Mostly because he felt embarrassed about himself.

"J.J, you're acting like you don't know me." Shane sighed. "It's not my thing, okay? I don't like that music, I don't like the crowds and I most certainly don't like the drinking part of it all."

"You don't have to drink! I swear I won't let you take even a sip of alcohol! Okay? Pinky promise?"

"Yeah, pinky promise, just how you pinky promised last time that you won't leave me alone and you did in record time. Twenty minutes J.J!"

"For the last time, I'm sorry! I got... carried away."

"Mhm, by who?" Shane furrowed his brows.

"No one! And not in that way, Jesus, Shane is that what you think of me?"

Shane sighed. "No, J.J, of course not. Just... I really, really didn't like Jackie's party, okay? And I have bad memories from it." Shane lied. God, he lied so much. He had nothing but the most beautiful memory of the most beautiful scent known to a mankind. Of course, the whole overall experience was hell, but the memory that lingered for days is the scent. Alpha scent.

"Shane, I promise it won't be anything like Jackie's party. There's these local boys playing live music and it's gonna be barely 20 people there... trust me, okay? I know this guy, Troy, I know the kind of gatherings he makes and it's never more than 20 people there."

"Twenty very drunk and hormonal people." Shane muttered back.

J.J only rolled his eyes in response and let out another whine. "Shane, come on! Are you really going to make me be stuck there with Hayden and Jackie sucking each other's faces off the whole night?"

"So find someone's face to suck yourself." Shane mumbled.

"First of all, that's the grosest way to say make out... ever. And second, I don't want that, I'm not in the mood for some alpha trying to grab me and shit, I just want to have fun with my best friends. It's our last summer together!"

Shane wanted to slap this annoying person he called his friend. J.J was as relentless as Hayden sometimes, Shane honestly couldn't pick which one was worse.

"Fine, J.J." Shane sighed, followed by J.J's excited squeals. "BUT! If I see you dissappear on me again, or if I get even slightly uncomfortable, I am leaving and I don't care who you're gonna find to keep you company."

"I won't disappear, I promise!" J.J said, hugging Shane tightly "Thank you, thank you, thank you! You'll see Hollander, is gonna be so much fun, I promise."

"I seriously doubt that." Shane mumbled, trying to peel J.J off of him. "Just do as you promised and we won't have any troubles."

July 9th, 2026

God, Shane hated this place so much.

Everything about this barn was honestly awful. The smell most of it... the air was too thick and it smelled like... animal shit, but on a hot summer day. Mixed with pheromones of the people here. It was suffocating, honestly. Beneath it all, there was a hint of weed in the air as well. Shane unfortunately smelled it a few times, enough to recognize it. It made his stomach churn almost instantly, his head feeling just slightly too light just from the smell alone.

It wasn't a real party, J.J didn't lie about that.

It was thirty people at most, scattered in loose groups around the barn. Some leaned lazily against the wooden beams, others sat on overturned crates or old chairs that looked like they’d been dragged in from someone’s garage. A couple of people were already too loud for Shane's liking, looking like they were already starting to get under the effect of alcohol.

There was no music yet, but Shane noticed the setup the moment he stepped in. Right in the center of the barn there was a makeshift stage, or something that was trying to be the stage. A cleared-out space with a drum set that looked like it had been through hell, a couple of amps stacked unevenly, wires trailing across the floor like someone didn’t even bother. Two guitars rested nearby, one leaning against an amp, the other laid flat like it had just been dropped there.

Shane couldn't help but make a grimace the moment he stepped into the barn. Because once again he let himself be dragged into this kind of stuff. He let himself be convinced that it won't be so bad, and every time it's bad.

His shoulders were tense, his posture too rigid as he stood close to J.J who was happily chatting with some of the people they knew from school. Shane did his best to play along and he forced himself to smile when the other person did, even if he barely paid attention to the conversations going on around him. His mind wasn't fully there, he tried to distract himself because it helped with his nerves, trying to think back of a happy memory. Two days ago at the Lunar Falls with Liam was a happy memory. They sat for hours, made out for hours, laughed, chatted, and Shane was really happy and peaceful then.

But his happy thoughts were cut off by sudden yell of people near the stage.

"Come on! Get up there already, start playing something!"

His head spun in the direction of the stage, and he saw the guys starting to come up. First two he knew, it was Troy, the host of this mess and Cliff. Shane knew them both from school, although it was more word-of-mouth talk about them, he never really met them in person. Cliff sat down at the drums and Troy picked up one of the guitars.

But then, Shane's breathing stopped. Quite literally. Because the next person who came up was someone he definitely didn't expect to see there.

It was the alpha he knew. Ilya.

His heart stuttered so hard it almost hurt, breath catching somewhere in his throat as his eyes locked onto him.

How is this possible?

That thought kept replaying in Shane's head as he watched Ilya pick up the other guitar.

How did he not notice him in here? How did he not recognize that scent in here? He was sure that by now he could recognize Ilya's scent in the sea of hundred thousand people with his eyes closed, only because he thought of it so much.

Because now it was impossible to ignore it.

Ilya stepped on that "stage" like he belonged there, like it was his second nature. He was dressed entirely in black, black jeans, black tank top and black leather vest with bunch of pins and patchwork of his favorite bands. Shane didn't notice it before, but Ilya had his right ear pierced, the gold hoop dangling from it. And those curls... now that's what Shane noticed well. Ilya's insane, blond curls. He remembered how messy they looked when he slept on the floor that day, and especially how messy they were when he got up. Shane never knew someone witg curls like that, lush and gorgeous.

They started playing music, but Shane didn't hear a thing. He looked in Ilya's direction, completely mesmerized by him. It wasn't even the scent only anymore, it was this entire being. This Alpha. Shane realized there was no point in fighting it anymore, in fighting the Omega inside of him, when the Omega was obviously smitten by this Alpha. The little people he had around him went crazy about the song they were playing but Shane stood frozen, eyes glued to that stage.

Glued to Ilya.

He noticed everything. How Ilya's fingers dragged over the strings with such precision, the bob of his head to the sound, the lip bite...

Ilya bit his lip and Shane found himself biting lip in return.

And then Shane noticed that Ilya noticed him too. Ilya smiled a little. And then Ilya winked.

And Shane felt like his insides were turning upside down.

He felt dizzy again. His head felt heavy and his vision got blurry all the sudden. Instead of music, there was this high pitched noise that rung in his ears, making him even more dizzy. He held himself up against the wall next to him for support, because he didn't trust his legs anymore.

Is it happening again? Not possible, he didn't even drink anything here. So what was happening to him?

He needed air again. He needed to get out.

"J.J, I.." Shane spoke, nudging his friend slightly. "I need to get out...get some fresh air."

"Come on! Where are you going, they just started playing?"

"I need to get out. I'll just be outside the barn, okay? I just need fresh air." Shane said, not giving J.J any time to reply, already turning around and walking out the barn. He took a deep breath the moment he stepped out and ran his hands over his face.

What the hell was that? Why did his body just betray him? Because Ilya looked at him? Because he winked?

Shane, pull yourself together. This is not normal, this isn't you.

He found some old crates by the barn, taking a seat there and just relaxing back against the wall. He kept on taking deep breaths until he felt the heaviness in his head slowly disappear, his pulse becoming normal again.

He appreciated the quiet, too, it felt like whatever music that was was just too lpud and too much for him. After a few minutes of just sitting alone, and doing nothing, he reached for his pocket and pulled out his phone. Not his phone, but actually some old phone his dad used to have and gave it to him, because Shane was phone-less at the moment and his mother and father were not letting him go out anywhere without one, and he for sure wasn't being that great of a son after that scare for them to just buy him a new one.

He tapped on it, groaning in annoyance as the damn thing was too slow to respond. He finally opened his contacts and decided to call Liam. He needed someone, and what better option than his boyfriend, to pull his head away from thinking about the Alpha behind those barn door.

"Baby! I didn't expect you'd be back home so soon, you're not enjoying the party..?" Liam's voice echoed on the other side of the line. Shane smiled as he heard his voice.

"No, I'm still there I just... I needed to get out and get some fresh air and I wanted to call you."

"Shane, you should be inside, having fun with your friends..."

"I know, just..." Shane bit his lip, trying to think of a lie that doesn't involve Ilya. "The smell inside is disgusting.. I mean it's a barn, so like... ew." He didn't lie that much.

"Awh, sweetheart I'm so sorry." Liam cooed from the other side. "That sucks, I was really hoping you're gonna have fun tonight, you know?"

"I know, I mean... it's good, I'll come back inside I just... I needed some time alone and.. I missed you." Shane bit his lip. "I wish you were here, with me right now."

"Is that what you want?" Liam said, his voice laced with teasing.

"Maybe..." Shane hummed. "There's all these couples here and I just want you... I kinda wish I had you out here with me right now, against this barn wall, you know..."

"Hm, and what would we do if I was there?"

"Whatever you want..." Shane whispered into the phone, squeezing his thighs a little too hard as he felt himself start to get aroused.

"Oh... whatever I want?"

"Well, maybe not whatever." Shane chuckled. "But you know what I mean... I want to feel your lips...your hands.."

"Where do you want to feel them, baby?" Liam whispered.

Shane closed his eyes as he let himself imagine it all. "All over my body... On my chest, my neck, my hips... my... you know."

"Yeah... I especially want to touch your "you know"." Liam chuckled. "And kiss it too... and put it in my mouth and pleasure you, let my baby relax for a bit... you need that don't you?"

"Yeah." Shane sighed, squirming around the crates a little. "I desperately need that. I need you to make me feel better."

"Want me to come there and pick you up and we can come back home?"

"I... you can just-"

"Hollander!" J.J's voice echoed from the entrance of the barn. "Hollander what are you doing there! Get back inside already!"

"In a minute, J.J!" Shane called out then went back on his phone. "I'm sorry, baby, I have to go back now. J.J is being an asshole... is it okay if I come sleep at your place tonight after this is done? I'll text my parents about it?"

"Of course it is, baby. I'll wait up for you, okay? Now you go and have fun, but don't get drunk again!"

"I won't. I promise." Shane smiled to the phone. "I'll see you later then."

"See you, baby." Liam said and then hung up the phone.

Shane did go back inside, but kept himself hidden in the corner where he couldn't see Ilya. He doesn't want to see him, he doesn't want to feel dizzy again only from the sight of him. But Shane didn't stay inside for too long, maybe 30 minutes or so before he excused himself and went out again, sitting next to the barn on those same crates again. The music died down eventually, live sound replaced by the DJ. Shane was really thankful for that, as Troy's voice while singing wasn't really nice to listen to. No offense to Troy, obviously.

He sat in peace, counting down minutes until his friends finally decide they had enough drinks and it was time to go home. He told himself, every ten minutes, it's gonna be any time now. But it never was. Eventually, it was already close to midnight and Shane texted Liam.

Shane: This seems to be going on for forever. If J.J and Hayden don't get their asses moving in next 15 minutes I'll just go on my own so wait up for me. I still wanna do all those stuff we talked about xx

Liam responded rather quickly.

Liam: of course, baby. i'm waiting up for you, just text me when you're close and take care of yourself ok?

Shane grinned like an idiot to the text. What did he do to deserve this incredible boyfriend he had? Liam was serioisly the definition of perfect boyfriend, and Shane needed someone to pinch him because he still can't believe Liam is his.

"To what do I owe this honor that you came and watch me play...?" A familiar voice sounded of close to Shane. He was still busy looking at his phone and texting Liam, that he didn't even notice anyone walk up to him. Shane snapped his head up and was instantly met with the piercing blue eyes. Ice cold blue eyes.

And the scent.

"Uh I... I didn't see you...come here..." Shane spoke nervously.

"Did you enjoy the show?" Ilya smirked, cigarette hanging loosely between his lips. God, up close like this he looked even more breath-taking than on that stage.

"I uh... no. Not really." Shane chuckled nervously. "It's not you just... that, music, it's not my thing."

Ilya cocked one eyebrow up. "Why did you come here then?"

"My friends dragged me here." Shane shrugged.

"Ah..." Ilya nodded, taking one long drag of his cigarette before huffing the smoke out. "And you're always such a good boy you can't tell anyone no? Is that how you got in that mess I had to save you from in the first place?"

Shane felt all kinds of emotions from those two sentences alone. First, there were these butterflies in his stomach. Why would Ilya call him a good boy just like that? And second... who the hell does this guy think he is, just speaking to him so bluntly like that?

Shane frowned. "First of all, that's not true...I can say no. And second, no, that's not how I got into that mess, that mess wasn't entirely my fault, okay?"

"Easy there, Omega." Ilya smirked, inhaling another smoke. "Don't get all snappy with me, I'm just teasing you a little..."

"I told you to never call me that!" Shane snapped again, shifting on the crates to sit up straight. "I have a name, Alpha, so use it."

Ilya's smirk only grew wider at that. "Think of it as a pet name."

"It's not a fucking pet name for me."

Ilya took a step closer to the crates. Then one more. So close that Shane could feel his scent deep inside his nose, like it was engraving itself im there. Ilya was so close that he was almost standing between Shane's legs.

"I liked being called Alpha." Ilya said, his tone low and teasing. "Especially when you said it earlier. I like it coming from your lips." Ilya's hand traced the space right next to Shane's thigh as he leaned closer. "Wanna do it again for me?"

Shane swallowed a lump in his throat. As Ilya was leaning closer, Shane found himself backing up until his back hit the wall. He let out a shaky breath, looking at the alpha's eyes right in front of him. "What do you think you're doing?"

"We're talking, no?" Ilya mumbled. "I wanna hear you say my name again..."

"Ilya, I have a-"

"No, pretty boy, not that one. My other name." Ilya whispered, his face so dangerously close to Shane's that he could feel Ilya's breath over his lips. Ilya's breath smelled of alchol, weed and cigarettes, clashing with his usual vanilla laced scent. For Shane, it was making him dizzy all over again, the proximity and the scent making it hard to breathe.

"This is such a bad idea, Ilya, I think you should get off. I have to get going." Shane mumbled, his sanity hanging by a thin thread.

"What's the rush? Got somewhere better to be? The night is still young, Shane. We could have so much fun..."

"This is not my kind of fun." Shane mumbled.

"What do you find fun then?" Ilya smirked, his hand finally coming to the side of Shane's thigh, his fingers digging into the flesh covered by jeans. "I can do pretty much anything, you just need to tell me."

"Ilya, I.." Shane whimpered as Ilya touched him finally, his touch sending electricity up his leg and up his spine. It felt so wrong, yet nothing has felt more right in Shane's life before this.

"That's not my name." Ilya leaned in again, nuzzling his neck against Shane's scent gland before tracing it up to Shane's ear, breathing against it. "What's my name, Shane?"

Shane shut his eyes tightly. He felt so hard.

"Ilya." Shane whispered, his breath shaky again. Ilya clicked his tongue and let out a little "tsk-tsk" at Shane's answer. "That's not my name... you know my name, Shane. Say it." He whispered, and then his lips made contact with Shane's ear, his lips closing around his lobe to suck on it gently.

Shane melted and completely lost whatever sanity he had left. He wasn't Shane anymore, because Shane would never do this. He was reduced to his Omega. He tilted his head slightly and pressed it against Ilya's, seeking more touch, needing more from him.

"Alpha." Shane purred.

There was a growl coming from Ilya. A low, primal wolf growl coming deep from his chest. His teeth grazed over Shane's lobe, dragging it slightly before he released it and moved his head so that he's looking at Shane again.

"Good Omega." Ilya mumbled and leaned in, finally connecting their lips.

The second their lips met it was like the world stopped. It wasn't cute and gentle at all, from the beginning it was hot and messy. Shane made this small, broken sound into the kiss, already leaning in harder, already chasing more before the first second even passed. Ilya didn’t hesitate either, his hand coming up to Shane’s chest, squeezing his pecs over the fabric of Shane's shirt, making Shane whimper in kiss. They kept missing each other slightly at first, tilting the wrong way, bumping lips, breathing unevenly—but it only made it feel more real, more desperate for each other. Their tongues danced together outside their mouths, breaths mixing with each other, the kiss being so messy but both of them didn't give a fuck about it. It was pure need.

Shane’s hands moved without thinking, gripping at Ilya’s butt and pulling him closer. He shifted in his seat, legs coming up around Ilya’s hips almost automatically, locking him in place. It was his body reacting, before his brain could even process anything. Ilya’s hand dragged from Shane’s chest down to his hip, holding him tightly in place as he towered over him, making Shane lean more against the barn wall.

Nothing about it felt normal. Nothing about it felt like something Shane should be doing, or would ever do.... but it didn't matter at this point. The damage was already done. And he couldn't possibly think about pulling away from Ilya's kiss now. Because somehow, impossibly, it felt right. Too right. Like everything in him had been building up to this exact moment and he just hadn’t known it yet.

His head felt light, his chest tight, his whole body reacting all at once. It was too much and not enough at the same time. His thoughts were gone, completely drowned out by the feeling of Ilya’s hands on him, his lips on his, and the way Ilya held him like he was just meant to be there. In Ilya's hold. Under Ilya. With Ilya's lips on his.

It wasn't until Ilya's hand lowered dangerously close to his crotch, that something in Shane snapped. The kiss was still going, but Shane moved his hand and held Ilya's tightly in place.

"Don't." Shane mumbled.

"What is it, Shane? You don't want me?" Ilya whispered against Shane's lips.

"N-no, it's not t-that." Shane spoke breathless, still seeking for Ilya's lips, whenever Ilya tried to pull away.

"So?"

"I-I have uh... I have a boyfriend."

Ilya stopped. Shane thought he completely screwed it up then and he was about to be met by this Alpha's rage.

But Ilya... smirked. And chuckled. And his eyes went dark.

"I don't see him around here... and it's not like you're gonna run to tell him what you did, are you?"

"N-no of course not, he can't know I.."

"He can't know how much you enjoyed cheating on him just now?" Ilya whispered, his hand snapping out of Shane's hold and finally pressing against his crotch. "Because look how much you enjoyed it. I can feel how much you enjoyed it."

"Ilya, stop..." Shane whimpered. "We shouldn't... I can't."

"But you want." Ilya mumbled and kissed Shane again, just as desperate and heated as before. Shane's arms wrapped around Ilya's neck, holding him close so he can't pull away as easily again.

"Tell me, Shane." Ilya mumbled in kiss. "Tell me that you want me."

"N-no, I.." Shane whispered, gasping for air as Ilya's kisses became too much, as it became too hard to breathe.

"Say it." Ilya growled against his lips. "Say it you want me... deep and hard, say how much you want my knot inside of you, Shane."

Shane shut his eyes tightly and let out a moan into Ilya's mouth, followed by a soft. "Alpha..."

There was another low chuckle from Ilya. A low, evil chuckle. His kisses slowed down after it. Until they fully stopped.

Ilya pulled away from Shane, slowly, looking down on him like a predator watching his pray. That awful alpha smirk was still there, but instead of Shane hating on it, this smirk only made him even more hard.

"I'll see you around, pretty boy." Ilya muttered in low voice and took a step back from Shane. Then another one. Then another one before he fully turned around and started walking away, back to that barn.

Shane didn't move at first. Not at all. It was like his body stopped functioning the moment Ilya left him there. His lips were still slightly parted, chest rising unevenly, like his brain was still trying to process everything that happened. That Ilya kissed him... that it was the most mind-blowing kiss of his life.

And that Ilya just left him there.

Painfully hard and insanely aroused with nothing and no one to help him with it.

And with Ilya's scent still lingering on him.

Chapter 3

Chapter Notes

cw for this chapter: homophobic language!!

July 10th, 2026

Shane woke up to the feeling of kisses over his shoulder. It took him a second once he opened his eyes to remember exactly where he was, because even though he slept peacefully, the moment he woke up his mind started racing again.

"Good morning, handsome..." Liam's voice was soft behind him, his lips soft against the bare skin on his shoulders. He could feel his boyfriend's heat pressed up against his naked body under the covers. Liam's palm slid over Shane's thigh and traced it's way up to his butt, moving in gentle circles over it.

"Morning.." Shane whispered.

"Did you sleep well?" Liam asked, pressing one kiss between Shane's shoulder blades, making him shiver.

"Like a baby. And you?"

"Hmm, after your performance last night?" Liam chuckled lightly. "I was gone."

Shane blushed and hid his face in the pillows. "Don't say it like that."

After Shane managed to collect himself last night, at least in his head, he ran to find J.J and Hayden to tell them that he has to go. Right now. He couldn't wait anymore, he couldn't stand to be in that place anymore next to Ilya, after whatever-that-was happened between the two of them. He was still painfully hard and he could swear there was slick starting to ooze out and he was not going to let bunch of people see it thinking that he maybe peed himself. He ran to Liam's house, calling his mom on the way. Thankfully, his parents loved Liam so much that they didn't even question it.

The moment the doors of Liam's room closed, Shane was on him. He gave him, to quote Liam: the most mind-blowing blowjob of his life. Shane went on it for a whole hour, taking him in, swallow after swallow until Liam went completely dry and when Shane wasn't satisfied enough yet, he let Liam finger him, just to get the slick in control and just so Shane could have an orgasm too. Even though he came twice while sucking him off anyways.

"I mean it..." Liam smiled and pulled Shane closer to him, pressing Shane's ass against his groin. "What has gotten into you last night?"

Shane bit his lip. Liam can never find out the real reason as to why Shane was like that.

Liam can never find out that one single kiss from Ilya last night felt like fireworks, that one single kiss from Ilya felt like a thousand kisses from Liam. He can never find out that Shane felt so miserable because Ilya left him there, when all he wanted was for Ilya to stay and take care of him. He can never find out that Shane fell asleep, thinking he was under Ilya, under alpha, instead of cuddled by his loving, gentle boyfriend.

"I don't know, I just missed you..." Shane lied, turning his head to side. Liam leaned in and pressed a kiss on Shane's cheek.

"Maybe we shouldn't see each other more often, if you're gonna be like that every time..."

Shane smiled, but the smile hurt. Not physically, but he felt pain in his soul. It was the kind of pain that can't compare to any physical wound, ever.

"You know, last night..." Liam continued, tracing his fingers over Shane's hip again. "I was thinking we're finally gonna do it.."

"Oh.."

"You know, we've been dating for almost four months now and..." Liam shifted in place, letting his slowly hardening cock rub against Shane's ass. "We can....now.."

"Liam, I..." Shane sighed. He felt pleasure from the touch, obviously. He couldn't think of a better person to lose his virginity to. But he's just not ready for it.

"I really want it Shane..." Liam whispered against his skin.

"I know, but..." Shane bit his lip. "Can we not? N-not now, at least, please... just...give me a little more time, okay? Soon. I promise."

And as easy as it was for Liam to get hard, that denial from Shane made him go soft in seconds. "Of course.." Liam said, with that God-awful polite smile. "Whatever you say, baby."

Shane spun around so that he faced Liam now, dragging his hands up to Liam's shoulders. "I'm sorry, really..."

"Shane, don't apologize for stuff like that." Liam said, caressing Shane's cheek gently. "I told you, it's fine and we can take whatever pace you set... I'm too much in love with you to lose you over a stupid thing such as not having patience to wait for you. You, your comfort and your happiness are the most important things."

Shane smiled and leaned in to press a soft kiss on Liam's lips. But it was just a peck, before Liam pulled away quickly. "Uh-uh! Morning breath..."

Shane scoffed. "You were willing to have sex with me two minutes ago but suddenly morning breath is a big deal?"

"Let's go brush our teeth quickly and then we can get back here?" Liam chuckled. "I'm not letting you leave my bed today."

"Deal."

"Wow... you found your way back home, huh, Lassie?" Ilya's brother, Alexei muttered from the living room couch, not really bothering to look Ilya's direction at all. He just knew it was him. Really, though, Ilya hasn't been home for a few days now. Last time he properly slept over at his house was when he brought Shane. He's been crashing over at his friend's houses, changing the adress every couple days.

Ilya wouldn't really consider this place home. It's a house where he grew up and where his father and brother lived. And that's all it is now.

This hasn't been a home for him ever since his mom died.

If he had money, if he had opportunity, he would've moved out a long time ago. But money has always been a struggle for him, and even if he does end up saving some money, something always pops up and suddenly, poof, it's all gone again. He promises himself, after every angry fight with his dad or his brother, next month he's gonna move out. Then that month stretches out to two months, then three, and suddenly he's in this limbo that he can't escape from for six years already.

This summer was different though, Ilya really felt like this summer will be the last he spends in this hell hole.

"I just came to pick up a few stuff and that's it." Ilya mumbled as he kicked off his shoes by the entrance, walking past the living room. He was already at the bottom of the stairs when his dad emerged at the top of them, stopping him in his tracks.

"Where do you think you're going without any explanation where you've been for days?" His father, Grigori, asked him in Russian. The man never bothered learning proper English, and if he did speak it, it would always be outside the house. Inside the Rozanov household, English was strictly forbidden, ever since Ilya was young.

Ilya sighed and walked up the stairs, pushing by his dad to walk past, not really bothering to answer him. He was seriously there to pick up a few stuff, some money from his secret stash and he would be off again. He doesn't really know where, but he just didn't feel like spending time here.

"Answer me!" His dad called out after him. "How dare you behave like that?!"

Ilya stopped again, in the middle of the hallway. He spun around, keeping a safe distance from his father, but even at this distance, even this far away, Grigori's anger burned him like open flame. Over the years, Ilya learned to be somewhat immune to the elder alpha's rage, but that doesn't mean that he's become completely heartless to every single insult Grigori throws his way.

"Look at you! Look at how you dress, like a fucking faggot!" Grigori yelled. "What the fuck is that?! What happened to your jeans huh, why are they all cut up like that? You don't have money to buy new ones so you walk around the town like a fucking homeless person! A disgrace to Rozanov's that's what you are. Do you even know what people are telling me and how they're talking behind my back because of you?"

Ilya tried to keep poker face, even if the anger was reaching boiling point inside of him. If his face remained still, there was one thing that he couldn't hide, and that was his scent. It burned eyes, the spice in it, when Ilya was angry his scent turned actually spicy, like someone pouring chilli in your eyes and nose.

"This is all your stupid mother's fault, raising you like this!" Grigori made a disgusted face.

"You don't get to say another word about Irina, do you understand that? Because I swear to God, one day I will walk back into this house with a fucking shotgun and end you for it." Ilya bared his teeth at him, snarling.

"Oh will you now?" His father mocked. "The only thing you keep bringing back to the house is those dumb breeding machines! Whoever you brought couple days ago has stunk up my entire fucking house!"

Ilya's jaw flexed so hard it hurt. His father was talking about Shane, and about Shane's scent.

Ever since that morning, Ilya wasn't able to pull the sheets off of his bed and wash them, only because they smelled like Shane's scent. Even if he wasn't home, and didn't sleep there most of the nights, he didn't have the heart to do it because his bed still smelled of Shane. That was partly the reason Ilya came back now, is to lay down in his bed for a little and soak up his scent. He didn't get enough of him last night.

Shane smelled like... the most beautiful garden. Or the most amazing fruit. Or a mix of both. His scent was sweet yet fresh at the same time. He smelled of pear and lily of the valley.

Shane's scent was the closest thing to his mom's scent, the only one he ever smelled that even remotely reminded him of Irina and her comforting scent.

"Stop fucking saying shit like that!" Ilya growled. "Can you just leave me the fuck alone so I can get my stuff and get out of this place already?"

"And where do you think you're going? Back to that garage to practice your shit noise? What about your homework, when do you plan on doing it?! You have school to finish Ilya and I'm not gonna let you become some low-life!"

"Father." Ilya frowned. "I finished school. Couple weeks ago. High school is over, it's summer. Did you forget to take your pills again?"

Grigori made a face, like his brain was obviously delayed for a few seconds as he tried to remember. "Of course. Still, you're not going anywhere! Get in your room and don't come out until I call you!"

Ilya shook his head and just shrugged off. Because there was no point in fighting Grigori Rozanov when he knew he's not going to listen to him anyways. Ilya went into his room and slammed the door shut, the anger still tingling under his skin.

But the moment he closed those doors, he was met with the scent again. That beautiful Omega scent. Pear and lily of the valley. It was like a massage for his brain and heart, compared to the god awful metalic scent of his father just a few moments ago. This was soothing and calming, and Ilya needed that desparately.

He buried his nose deep into his pillow the moment he climbed on his bed. It felt as if his head was a giant hot baloon, about to pop and suddenly someone held it and gently released the hot steam out of it. It felt like all the anger, tension, nerves that Ilya felt a second ago didn't matter anymore, as long as he was surrounded by this scent.

He thought he had enough of it last night, when he kissed Shane. He didn't realize how little he had it back then, and how much more he needed, desperately. Because the truth was, Ilya got slightly scared last night. He got scared how much he enjoyed Shane's scent that he thought it was better to leave, especially when Shane told him he had a boyfriend.

Not because Ilya cared, about that man whoever he was and if what they were doing is going to hurt his feelings, but because if Ilya continued to kiss Shane, he was afraid he's not gonna be able to stop himself. That his alpha wouldn't be able to hold back, and seeing how Shane didn't want it, Ilya didn't want to be that asshole. He didn't want to turn into his father, or his brother, or any other asshole Alpha who take Omegas by force.

But now, it's been days since Shane was here, and his scent is slowly fading away. It was still there, but Ilya had to sniff really hard to get that strong feeling again. The morning Shane left, Ilya spent whole day in his bed, surrounded by Shane's scent and he felt like he was floating on clouds. But now, as each minute passed by, Ilya begged every otherwordly force for Shane's scent to stay. Just a minute longer. Just until he's ready to go.

But as each minute passed, Ilya felt like his mind was playing tricks on him. Because one moment the scent would be strong again, as if Shane was right next to him and the next one it would be completely gone, as if no matter how hard he sniffed nothing was on there anymore.

"For fucks sake..." he muttered under his breath as he finally pulled his head away from the pillow.

He managed to peel himself off of the sheets after a few minutes, getting the things he came for, some money and then finally ended up leaving the house. Quietly, unlike when he came in.

Contary to many beliefs, summer vacations are actually Shane's favorite time of the year. Summer, in general. Because summertime in Bridgeford makes it look like the town is actually alive, compared to the rest of the year when the streets look as if it's a ghost town. During summer, everyone is outside. Parks are full, diners, coffee shops are bustling with people and even if there's notning special to do, people would just sit on the curb or on some nearby bench and talk and talk for hours until sunsets.

Shane's favorite thing was spending time in a park. It wasn't a big park by all means, but it was cute and had just enough trees to make shade so that it's not hot like in actual pits of hell. Most of the days, he would go there for morning runs, or afternoon walks with either Liam or his friends. Sometimes, they'd even bring a small blanket and sit on the grass to hang out. Sometimes they'd take their bikes and just ride laps around the park until they got bored.

Today, however, they picked the lazier option. He was hanging out with Hayden, walking their fifth lap around the park as the sun was slowly starting to go down. Shane appreciated the sunset so much, as it felt like a gentle blanket slowly covering his town, the loud noises and chatter of people slowly dying down as if they're being put to sleep. Hayden on the other hand, was too busy appreciating the ice cream in his hand to acknowledge the beauty of the sunset.

"Mmh, this is amazing." Hayden mumbled. "Tell me again, why do we not eat ice cream more often? Just in general, as humans, what's wrong with having ice cream for breakfast lunch and dinner during summer?"

Shane rolled his head to the side, giving Hayden a look. "Are you seriously asking that or..?"

"I'm being serious! Like...this is like source of happiness in a cone, who wouldn't want this multiple times a day?"

"Because..." Shane sighed. "Because first of all, it's bad for your teeth. Second of all, it's not nutricious and third of all you'll get a brain freeze from that amount of ice cream."

Hayden mocked. "Oh you'll get a brain freeze, blah-blah."

"Actually scratch that one." Shane pouted. "There's nothing to be frozen in your case."

"Fuck you, Hollander." Hayden rolled his eyes. "You're always such a kill-joy you know, you managed to take the fun out of ice cream."

"You asked!"

"It was a retorical question, dumbass." Hayden huffed. "Wow, you're on edge these days..."

"No, I'm not." Shane said quickly. Too quickly. So quickly that it felt like a confirmation for Hayden, that there was definitely something going on.

"Right, right, buddy." Hayden chuckled lightly. "Wanna tell me what's going on?"

"Nothing's going on, Hayden." Shane said, looking away to the other side. Hayden nudged him on the side. "Troubles in paradise with Liam?"

"What?" Shane frowned. "No, I told you, nothing is wrong.

Hayden rolled his eyes, yet again. "Shane, you know you can tell me whatever embarrassing thing you did, okay? I'm your best friend, I won't judge you."

"I didn't do anything!" Shane defended himself, praying that Hayden won't notice the blush on his face as scent patch took care of the scent problem for him.

"Wait! I know what it is!" Hayden said, little too excited. "You two finally did it! You did it and now you hate it and you wanna break up with him!"

"What?!" Shane scoffed. "Hayden you're being ridiculous. We didn't have sex if that's what you're refering to."

"Come on, what else could it possibly be? It's okay to admit if your first time was awful Shane, you know, when I had my first time-"

"I don't want to know Hayd!" Shane cringed visibly. "And I'm telling you, it's not that, we didn't have sex at all... nothing is wrong, Liam and I are perfectly happy okay?" Shane smiled bitterly.

Perfectly happy.

"So why are you miserable then?"

"I'm not." Shane whined. "I started these new suppressants, maybe it's a side effect or something, but I'm not miserable."

"Fine, fine." Hayden pouted. "But listen, tomorrow is the town's fair, you're going right?"

Shane nodded. "Of course. I'm going with Liam first but maybe we can meet up there?"

Bridgeford town's fair was an annual manifestation there, and during the fair the city lit up like Las Vegas. It felt like every single person in Bridgeford had to be there, it was always way too crowded. It wasn't big, it only had a handful of rides that Shane and his friends are now way too old to ride anyways, a dingy Farris wheel, those teacup rides, carousel and a few bumper car rides.

Of course, there were the games too. Game booths were lined on one side- ring toss, balloon darts, knock-the-cans-over, basketball shots, all kinds of games that Shane could swear were rigged. But him being a fool, he still played those every year.

And then there was food. If you ask Shane's friends it was arguably the best part of the fair. The whole town smelled of cotton candy and caramel apples. Of course, there were also corn dogs, funnel cakes covered in powdered sugar, popcorn, lemonade, maybe a local BBQ stand or pie booth run by someone’s grandma. But the cotton candy was Shane's favorite.

So yes, he was very excited about the fair. Even though Shane didn't really know how to show it.

"This is so stupid babe, remind me once again why am I doing this? It's rigged!" Shane whined after tossing yet another dart, trying to pop the spinning balloons attached to a wheel.

"It's fun baby! Come on I know you can do it!" Liam chirped next to him. "One more baby, come on!"

Shane rolled his eyes and threw the last dart, missing a balloon, of course. He felt his shoulders go slack from disappointment and a pout form on his face. Liam noticed it too. He scooted closer to Shane and wrapped one arm around his waist.

"No, honey don't give me that pout, please... you did a great job." Liam smiled sweetly, kissing his cheek. "You hit one!"

"Yeah, well one is not enough for a prize." Shane huffed. The vendor came over and gave him a smaller prize, a consolation prize which was.... a keychain. A car key chain.

"I wanted the big stuffed bear." Shane mumbled sadly. Liam leaned in again and placed a few more quick kisses over Shane's cheek and one final one on his lips. "I'll get you the biggest stuffed teddy I can find, yes? But how does cotton candy sound now?"

Liam could see Shane's pout turn into a smile slowly. "You know what will always make me happy."

"Of course I do." He said and gave him another quick kiss. "Come on, gorgeous. My treat okay? And we can grab those caramel apples too.."

Shane held his hand as they walked hand in hand down the crowded path. It truly felt like Bridgeford' fair was the center of the world tonight.

"Just cotton candy is fine. I want the strawberry one.."

"I'll get the blue one." Liam smiled.

"Baby, the blue one colors your tongue." Shane chuckled. "I don't want you to kiss me later and then we both turn blue like aliens."

"Why not, it would be fun." Liam smirked. "And besides, I don't plan on making out with you here, later, I'll take you home and then we can make out and nobody can see our blue tongues there."

"Stop!" Shane chuckled. "Fine you can get your blue cotton candy, but I can't go home with you later... I promised mom and dad I'll be home tonight because in the morning we're going to visit my grandma."

"Of course, baby." Liam nodded and once they finally reached the cotton candy stand, Liam turned to vendor and ordered their cotton candy.

Shane felt happy. Really. Like he was a child again, discovering this fair all over again. Whatever direction he turned his head in, he could see people smiling, laughing, small groups of friends hanging out together, children laughing and screaming on the rides, people getting messy from all the food and drinks they're shoving down their throats. They say Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth, but for whatever reason, Shane could argue that Bridgeford during fair days was the happiest place on Earth.

"Here you go, baby." Liam said, passing him his cotton candy stick. They once again walked hand in hand around the fair, eating their cotton candy in peace. Soon, they met up with Shane's friends, with Rose and Hayden.

They all walked as a group for a while more and then they finally met up with a larger group of friends, in a little empty field between the Farris wheel and a haunted house. The space was empty there, as many people used it for parking, and there was even this group of bikers there, parked in a circle like some kind of cult.

Shane was never big fan of motorcycles, so now that he saw so many of them, he made a disgusted face. They all looked... kinda dirty. The people, he meant. They always had... slightly greasy hair. Most of them were some slightly older men who look way too creepy. That same awful alpha smirk seemed glued to their faces, and of course, most of them were alphas. They all wore black, those worn leather vests with random logos or straight-up pictures of their bikes stitched across the back.

And all of them had awful scent. Awful. Whatever it was, mixed with gasoline was definitely not Shane's favorite scent. If anything, it made him gag any time he sniffed one of them. He wasn't even sure why he was looking at them now. He had his boyfriend's arm protectively wrapped around him, he was with his best friends there who were too busy chatting to realize Shane wasn't paying attention to them. Why was he even paying attention to these bikers?

It wasn't until he noticed someone among the sea of those people that he realized why he was unconciously looking in that direction this whole time. First he saw the curls. Then he saw the back, the broad back he remembers very vividly. Then he noticed a cigarette in his hand. Finally, Shane's eyes traveled up and he saw the face. It was Ilya.

Shane's breath caught for a second and he blinked fast a few times, as if he wasn't even sure that who he sees is really Ilya.

But no. It was definitely him.

Shane's chest felt weirdly warm from the moment he saw him. It was almost uncomfortably wrong, like there was something spreading under his ribs, like a slow burning flame. His mind didn’t stay in the present for long, not when it had something better to latch onto. It dragged him back to that night when Ilya and him made out, behind that barn. It dragged him back to Ilya's touches, Ilya's voice, Ilya's lips, Ilya's eyes undressing him much before Ilya even touched him.

Shane swallowed a lump in his throat, trying to force his eyes away from the alpha, but it was impossible. It felt like as if he was under a spell whenever Ilya was there and like it was just impossible for Shane to look away from him.

Then Ilya saw him too. Their eyes met across the field and neither of them moved.

The noise around them, the voices, the revving of the bikes, it all faded into nothing, it was all silence around them the moment they looked at each other. Shane barely registered any of it anymore. All he could see was him.

Ilya didn't look surprised at all, which was probably the worst part. He looked as if he knew Shane would be there all night and he was just waiting for moment to see him.

There was this imaginary pull between them and both of them didn't even try to ignore it. Like an invisible string connecting them and slowly dragging them to each other, metaphorically speaking of course. Because Shane was still glued to Liam's side, Liam's hand still around his waist.

Ilya saw it, one moment his eyes went down and saw the way this guy was holding Shane.

Ilya smirked.

Shane’s brows pulled together the moment he realized what Ilya had been looking at and grabbed hold of Liam's hand on his waist, his fingers tightening around his hand. However, it was still impossible for him to look away from Ilya.

And then, Ilya moved. It was just a subtle tilt of head though, followed by a lazy flick of his hand, gesturing somewhere off to the side… behind the old haunted house ride sitting at the edge of the fairgrounds. It was small, and not obvious to anyone who wasn't paying attention. But it was clear as hell for Shane. A clear sign that says: follow me.

After that, Ilya turned on his heels and disappeared into the sea of people, going into the direction of the haunted house.

Shane froze for a beat... maybe even two. His heart was definitely pounding now, threatening to jump out of his chest. Because this was both thrilling and terrifying. Thrilling because in some sick and twisted way, he was excited to see Ilya and excited that Ilya wants to see him, alone again. But also terrifying because... what if Ilya tries to kiss him again? This is reckless, his boyfriend is quite literally glued to his side, all of their friends are here. What if someone sees?

But that stupid invisible string....

“Hey,” Shane said suddenly, turning his head toward Liam, his voice coming out just a little too quick. "I'm just gonna go and find the toilets, babe.."

Liam looked at him right away, a small smile on his face. "Want me to come with you?"

Shane shook his head right away, eager to just get out of there. He hoped that it just wasn't too obvious how eager he was. "No, it's fine. I'll be right back, okay?"

He didn't wait for Liam to respond after that. He started walking toward the direction of the haunted house, trying to keep his pace normal, not too fast, not too obvious. Halfway there, he glanced over his shoulder, just to make sure that Liam or any of his friends were not looking at him.

Shane exhaled quietly when he realized that no one was watching him and continued his way to the haunted house. The closer he got to it, the faster his heart was beating. Then in last second, he made a sharp turn and went behind the ride.

Ilya was there already, leaning against the wall, one boot pressed flat against it. He brought the cigarette up for one last drag, the faint glow lighting up his face for just a second before he pulled it away and flickered it away from him.

"For a second I thought you're not gonna show up." Ilya said calmly as Shane approached him.

"What the fuck was that? Why did you call me here?" Shane pouted and crossed his arms over his chest.

Ilya shrugged, his posture as calm as always. "Isn't it obvious why? Wanted to see you."

"Yeah..." Shane frowned. "Care to explain what you were thinking when you kissed me a few days ago? I told you I had a boyfriend and... fuck, why did you leave then?"

Ilya chuckled. "Decide on what you want, Omega. Do you wanna be angry with me because I kissed you in the first place or do you wanna be angry because I left you horny?"

"Fuck, I told you to not call me that!" Shane snarled, pushing a finger against Ilya's chest. "I have a name! I'm not some stupid Omega, okay?! I have a name and you better start using it before I..."

Shane wasn't able to finish his sentence. Ilya grabbed his wrist hard and spun them around, pressing Shane's back against the cold wall. Ilya stood close to him, so close that Shane could feel Ilya's breath on his lips. Ilya shifted one leg between Shane's own, spreading them apart slightly and pushing his thigh against Shane's crotch.

"Before you what, Shane?" Ilya hummed.

"W-what are you doing?" Shane said, his voice shaky.

"I know why you followed me here Shane. And it's not to ask me why I kissed you the last time..." Ilya smirked, his lips lazily tracing along Shane's jaw. "I think you want more. That's why you followed me here."

"Ilya, stop.." Shane breathed out, but his head was far too gone already, without Ilya even kissing him yet. All it took was Ilya's proximity, Ilya's lips barely on his skin and Ilya's scent around him again.

Vanilla. Spices.

"Do you really want me to stop, Omega? Because your body is telling me different story.." Ilya nuzzled his nose against Shane's scent gland, sniffing him. "Hmmm... you smell so beautifully... so fucking amazing. Your scent is telling me you want this.."

"Fuck.." Shane whimpered, his hips relaxing and grinding against Ilya's thigh. "Ilya..."

"Not my name." Ilya said in kind of a singing voice.

"Fuck. Alpha. N-not here...p-please.." Shane whimpered.

"Not here? Why not?"

"B-because.... because he is out there." Shane said quietly.

"He? You can't even say your boyfriends name in front of me?" Ilya smirked. "Is it because you feel guilty that you're turning into a needy little thing for some other man?"

"Stop it." Shane said with a growl. "Don't say shit like that..."

"Oh, pretty boy, don't even try to deny it." Ilya whispered, licking a stripe up Shane's neck to Shane's ear. "You can't even look him in the eyes anymore because you know how much you want me and not him.."

Shane bit his lip and just shut up. Because unfortunately, he can't deny it. Everything Ilya was saying was unfortunately true.

"S-still... not here.." Shane said quietly.

"Okay... so where then?" Ilya asked.

"I-I don't know... not here."

"Wanna invite me to your house later?" Ilya said, as obvious joke. But the look on Shane's face was definitely obvious sign that he did not take that as a joke.

"Are you fucking serious?! I can't let an alpha into my house just like that, you're out of your fucking mind!"

Ilya chuckled. "Relax, Shane. I'm just joking. Joke, ok?" He said and pressed one tender kiss on Shane's jaw, making Shane melt under his touch again.

"Fine, if you don't want me here and your house is out of question... I'll pick you up later and we'll go somewhere out of town then. So you don't have to worry about your perfect little boyfriend or anyone finding out what you're doing..."

Shane let out one more shaky breath. He felt fucking disgusting for wanting exactly that.

"W-where will you p-pick me up?" Shane mumbled.

"By the diner? That okay for you?"

Shane gulped and nodded.

"Midnight good?"

Shane nodded again.

Stupid, stupid, stupid Shane.

"Good." Ilya said and stepped away from him. It took Shane some time to find stability on his own two legs, now that he didn't have Ilya to support him. He straightened up and adjusted his clothes, trying to adjust the tent in his pants to not be so obvious.

"I uh... I'll...see you later?"

"See you later, Shane." Ilya said with a smirk and pulled out a cigarette to light it up.

The walk of shame back to his friend group for Shane felt awful. Embarrassing. He wanted to punch himself for even agreeing to whatever Ilya was offering back there, but there was no going back now that he agreed already. Stupid Omega brain. Stupid Alpha pheromones. Stupid Shane.

"Baby!" Liam said excitedly. "I was wondering where you were, I was just about to go look for you..."

Shane faked a smile and stood close to his boyfriend again. "Sorry. The line for the toilets was long..."

"We were just saying we wanna go grab a few more snacks before we're off, wanna come with us?" Hayden said.

"Sure uh... but I'll have to go soon. Gotta go to my grandparents house in the morning."

"Want me to walk you back home, baby?" Liam asked, tracing his fingers along Shane's back.

"Uh... no it's fine, baby. You can stay with them... it's a short walk, anyways, I'll be fine.."

"You sure about that?"

"Of course." Shane smiled. "What can go wrong, it's just a five minute walk."

"If you say so." Liam said and held Shane's hand as they all walked away. Hayden walked in front of them all, and Rose kept to the side.

Rose kept looking at Shane. Looking at frowning. Because even though Rose was the nicest alpha he knows... she was still an alpha. And she could still smell other alpha's scent on Shane.

~

The neon sign flickering on the diner was incredibly annoying. Shane was already tense and nervous, and the flickering pink and blue sign was not helping this situation.

Shane stood off to the side of the building, just out of direct view, shifting his weight from one foot to the other like he couldn’t stand still for more than a second.

Where was Ilya? It was midnight already, why the fuck is he late?

His eyes darted everywhere: down the road, toward the parking lot, back toward the direction of the fair like someone might suddenly appear and catch him there. He was so scared that someone will see him. He lied to Liam and his friends that he was going home, so if any of them show up now, what kind of excuse does he have?

Five minutes passed, and Ilya was still not there. Shane was preparing to leave when he saw a motorcycle headlight in the distance, approaching him and stopping by the curb right in front of him.

"You're late!" Shane muttered. "Where the fuck were you, I was getting ready to go home!"

"Easy there." Ilya said as he lifted his helmet just enough so Shane could see him. "I got busy talking to a few friends... get on now. If you're so impatient. The other helmet is in the casette in the back."

Shane went closer to him and grabbed the helmet from the back. He stared down at it for a second before putting it on. He suddenly remembered just how much he hated motorcycles, and how never in his right mind would he get on one.

But Shane wasn't really in his right mind.

He climbed on the bike behind Ilya.

"Hold on tight, right here." Ilya said and moved Shane's arms in front of him, locking them around his waist. That same warm feeling in Shane's chest returned the moment he was close to Ilya again.

Shane barely had time to registed anything before the engine roared back to life under him. Ilya didn't even think twice before revving the machine and riding off down the street. Fast.

Shane’s stomach dropped so hard it felt like it got left behind on the curb. His arms tightened around Ilya’s waist on instinct, fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt. There was no real way to tell Ilya to slow the fuck down now, so this was the only thing Shane had. He squeezed his eyes shut almost immediately, pressing his head against Ilya's back as the town lights started to disappear behind them.

Streetlights were gone, replaced by long stretches of dark road lit only by the bike’s headlight cutting through it. Trees started closing in on both sides, as they started to ride into the forest. The road grew narrower, rougher, winding deeper between the trees. The air felt colder here, heavier somehow.

The longer they were riding, Shane felt the tension in his shoulders starting to ease out. He saw how confident Ilya was with his bike, which somehow made Shane feel confident about Ilya.

The ride lasted no longer than ten minutes. It wasn't until Shane could feel the scent of water under his helmet that he realized where Ilya was taking them.

Lunar Falls.

The bike slowed as they approached, the engine dropping from a roar to a low rumble before Ilya finally pulled off to the side. Gravel crunched under the tires as he parked, cutting the engine completely.

Ilya got off the bike first, taking off his helmet and running his hand through his messy curls. "Woah...that was great, wasn't it?"

Shane didn't feel so confident about standing up right away. His legs still felt like jelly. He took off his helmet and looked at Ilya. "Great? That was terrifying! What were you thinking driving that fast through the town?"

Ilya chuckled and leaned against his bike. "The streets were empty. And I'm not driving this baby 50 km/h, she's meant for more."

"I'm not meant for more!" Shane frowned and stood up finally, turning around and looking through the absolute darkness surrounding them. It was almost creepy how dark and empty this place was, how place that usually brings him peace suddenly felt insanely creepy and scary to him. It felt like being here at this hour is just wrong.

Ilya snuck his arms around Shane's waist and pulled him closer until his back was pressed against Ilya's chest and his ass pressed against Ilya's crotch. "I think you secretly love it... all of this. Thrill."

Shane whimpered from the contact alone. And the low voice of the alpha behind him made his insides twist and turn. Shane moved one arm up and behind him, his hand going to the nape of Ilya's neck to pull him closer. "You're such an asshole Ilya.."

Ilya buried his face into Shane's neck, pressing soft kisses over his scent gland. "I think you secretly love that too..."

"Oh fuck.." Shane keened as he felt Ilya's tongue graze his scent glands.

"So fucking sweet... I just wanna eat you, little one.."

"Fuck my life.." Shane mumbled and spun around, leaning in to kiss Ilya. Their lips collided hard, slightly off at first, then adjusting quickly as Shane pressed closer, one hand coming up to grab at the front of Ilya’s shirt, bunching the fabric in his fist. Ilya’s head tilted instinctively, meeting the angle, his hand coming up just as fast to catch Shane by the jaw, thumb pressing under his chin to hold him there.

Shane moaned into the kiss and Ilya took that as an invitation to slide his tongue into Shane's mouth, exploring it. Ilya’s other hand dropped to Shane’s side, fingers pressing into his waist, holding him steady as their bodies bumped together, crotches rubbing against one another.

"Mmh, Ilya..." Shane moaned against Ilya's mouth, his hands tightening around Ilya.

"Uh-uh.." Ilya whispered. His hand slid from Shane's hip down to his ass, squeezing it lightly, making Shane yelp. The kiss deepened as they devoured each other, licking, biting and kissing for what felt like eternity to both of them.

Shane was the one to pull away, but only just slightly. His breathing was heavy as whatever sanity he had left in his head disolved into that kiss.

"Ilya.." Shane whispered, lips red and raw from the kiss. "Alpha. Take me, please. I want you."

Chapter 4

This is such a bad idea.

Amongst all the bad ideas Shane has in his life, which honestly, there were not that many, this is by far the worst idea he ever had. Any normal person with at least one braincell in their head would turn around and run. Run as far into the forest. Until they reach the town again, or they get mauled by a bear. Even that would be better for Shane now.

But no... none of it mattered now. Not now when he's naked in front of this alpha. Naked and devoured by the alpha'a gaze and lips all over his chest.

"Oh my God.." Shane cried out as Ilya left hot, open-mouth kisses over his pecs, his teeth and tongue grazing over the sensitive skin around his nipples. Ilya's hands moved over Shane's side, over his ribs and down to his waist, holding the squirming Omega tightly in his place. Ilya's piercing blue eyes looked up at Shane, taking in the sight of Shane's completely lost and already fucked out face. God this man was beautiful.

"So fucking pretty..." Ilya mumbled against his skin, leaving one hot breath over Shane's nipple. "Perfect tits...perfect body..."

"S-stop." Shane whined. "Don't say stuff like that.."

"Why?" Ilya said with a smirk. One of his hands found its way down to Shane's ass and between his asscheeks, smearing the slick that was already pouring out of Shane uncontrollably. "Look how wet you are for me already. I know you're loving it, so why should I stop?"

"Oh, my God!" Shane yelped as he felt Ilya's hand there, his hips absentmindedly rolling into Ilya's hand. He had no idea what he was doing or why he was doing that, but it felt so damn good. Ilya rubs two fingers around Shane's hole, playing with the slick that's oozing out of him. The smell is divine, honestly, Ilya could seriously eat him in one bite because Shane smells and tastes fucking delicious. Ilya attaches his lips back to Shane's neck, licking and biting over the sensitive spot Shane has there, that he discovered not that long ago.

Shane needs to do something. His hands feel awkward, glued to his side, he needs to do something with his hands.

He lifts his arms up and rests them on Ilya's hips, his fingers tracing over Ilya's jeans, as if testing the waters. Ilya growled in response, a clear 'yes' for Shane to proceed.

Shane moved his hands and unbuttoned Ilya's jeans in quick motion, sliding his hand inside his jeans and boxers.

Oh boy...

Shane always heard stories about alpha cocks and the fact that they were usually quite big. Compared to regular sizes of Betas of course and... whatever Omegas had, you know.

But my-oh-my was he not ready for the size the alpha in front of him was packing. Ilya was huge. He had fat cock. Huge and fat. Shane couldn't help but wonder how would that even fit? It's impossible. It had to be at least 9 or 10 inches long, and by knowing human anatomy just enough, Shane came to conclusion: it's impossible, this won't fit.

That doesn't mean Shane wasn't willing to try.

"You like my cock, pretty boy?" Ilya purred just under Shane's ear. Shane moaned and tilted his head to the side, resting it against Ilya's. His hand starts moving up and down along Ilya's length, as much as the space in Ilya's boxers allows him to.

"Y-yes.." Shane whimpers. "So big..."

There's a proud smirk on Ilya's face that Shane can't see, but he can feel against his skin. Stupid alpha smrik.

"You can take it out you know." Ilya said. "Appreciate it in it's full glory."

"Fuck." Shane muttered and pushed down Ilya's jeans and boxers to his thighs, letting his big, hard cock spring free between their bodies. Shane almost choked on his own spit when he actually saw it for the first time. It was glorious.

Shane didn't realize when and how he dropped down on his knees, but there he was. Ilya leaned back and sat down on the bike, looking down at Shane on his knees, Ilya's cock pressed against his chin.

"Can I...?" Shane asked shyly, licking his dry lips.

"Go ahead, sweetheart." Ilya smiled.

Shane leaned in and licked one testing stripe over Ilya's tip. Ilya's cock twitched in response, the tall alpha already grunting and groaning from barely any touch.

"No teasing, though." Ilya growled. "Get on with sucking."

Shane swallowed a moan, because Ilya just sounded so fucking hot. He leaned in and wrapped his lips around Ilya's hot, throbbing tip, swirling his tongue over it to pick up some of the precum already leaking.

Ilya's hand flew up and his fingers tangled in Shane's hair, pushing his head down lower on his cock. "Like that, sweetheart...there you go. Much better, no?"

Shane moaned and shut his eyes tightly as he was barely halfway down Ilya's cock but he was filling his mouth already. He swallowed around Ilya's thick cock, moving his head back up before sinking down on it again. He found a steady pace with his sucks and Ilya's fingers relaxed in his hair, his chest raising and falling in rhythmic breaths.

"Fuck, Omega, you're so fucking good at this..." Ilya groaned, throwing his head back in pleasure. "That little boyfriend of yours let you practice on him before you got a taste of real dick?"

Shane whined a "fuck you" around Ilya, then flattened his tongue on the underside of Ilya's dick, trying to remember, to engrave every ridge and vein of Ilya's cock. Ilya tasted so fucking good... it felt like Shane was getting high off of Ilya's cock scent, musky and spicy.

"I'll take that as a yes." Ilya chuckled and looked down at Shane, his eyes dark and possesive. "Good fucking omega mouth... fucking made for me and my cock."

Shane cried out, the praises making his stomach twist and turn and his hips roll against the ground uncontrollably. It was like Ilya's words were soap pump for his ego and the more he praised him, the harder and faster Shane sucked. And the greedier Shane became, the louder Ilya's moans and grunts were, turning absolutely feral.

"Oh fuck.... fuck 'mega..." Ilya grunted, exhaling loudly through his nose. Shane managed to open his eyes and he looked up at alpha above him, moaning once again at the sight alone. Ilya looked massive. His muscles were flexed, his abs were showing and his face was the one of absolute pleasure. Shane knew he was doing a good job, but this sight only encouraged him more. He pulled away to Ilya's tip again, swirling his tongue around it some more. He suckled sweetly on the tip alone, making soft noises around it.

"You love it, don't you?" Ilya said through a breathy chuckle. "I didn't know you were that cock-hungry..."

Shane pulled away with a soft pop. "Shut up, I'm not..."

"Not?" Ilya slid his hand over Shane's cheek and down to his chin, raising his head up to look at him. "Why are you sucking my dick like your life depends on it then?"

"F-fuck you..." Shane breathed out. "Don't say stuff like that I..."

"You're what? Getting wetter?" Ilya smirked.

"Fuck." Shane cried out and rubbed his hole against his heels. "D-don't know, maybe... I'm just not used to shit like this, okay?"

"Don't worry, little one.." Ilya said softly and helped Shane up to his feet, pulling him closer to his own body. Ilya leaned in and pressed one soft kiss on Shane's lips, before whispering against them. "I will teach you everything I know... you will be so perfect for me."

"Yes..." Shane closed his eyes and leaned into Ilya's touch. "I want that. I want you so bad..."

Ilya spun them around so Shane was the one sitting on the bike this time. Ilya quickly kicked his jeans and boxers fully off then hoisted Shane's legs up to wrap them around his waist.

"Are you scared?" Ilya whispered as he kissed along Shane's jaw.

"A-a little." Shane said, tracing his hands over Ilya's back. He pulled him close, so close that it was getting harder to breathe. He wanted to be completely smothered by Ilya.

"I will take care of you, omega..." Ilya mused against his skin, one of his hands sliding down between their bodies and back to Shane's leaking hole. "I just need you to relax for me first, okay?"

"Fuck." Shane yelped as he felt one of Ilya's fingers slide inside him. This was nothing new, really, he got fingered before, but with Ilya every sensation felt completely new. His grip tightened on Ilya's shoulders and even though he wanted his body to relax, it only got more tense.

"Relax, sweetheart...can you do that for me, hm?" Ilya's voice was as soft as honey. Completely oposite to a few minutes ago and his usual alpha demeanor. Shane tried, tried really hard to relax, but it felt like every nerve in his body was on fire.

"I-I can't..." He cried softly. "Alpha, I can't..."

"Shh..." Ilya cooed, leaning in to kiss over Shane's jaw, kissing his way up to Shane's lips. He kissed Shane softly, their mouths fitting against each other like they're molding together. Shane exhaled softly into the kiss and wrapped his arms around Ilya's neck, pulling him closer. As the kiss went on, Shane felt his body relax. The moment Ilya felt Shane's hole loosen around his finger a little bit, he started pumping it slowly, Shane immediately whimpering into his mouth.

"Does that feel better?"

"Yes..." Shane breathed out, throwing his head back in pleasure. "Oh, Ilya... fuck.." he moaned as Ilya pumped his finger in and out, his whole hand already coated in Shane's slick.

"You're so wet for me, look at you... so beautiful and wet and ready to take me..." Ilya hummed, speeding up his finger movements. "Tell me what you want, Shane...tell me what you need.."

"Oh fuck..." Shane whimpered. "I-I don't know...fuck, ah!" He moaned as Ilya reached deeper inside him with his finger. "Want you... want you to..."

"To what, sweetheart? Say it." Ilya said with a low, possesive growl from his chest.

"F-fuck me?" Shane said quietly, something between a question and a statement. Honestly, he wasn't even sure, I mean... poor boy never did this. And he was already far too gone to have a coherent thought in his head, so he just went with his instincts.

Ilya slowly slid a second finger inside him, stretching him even further. "Say it nicely. Say: I want you to fuck me."

"Oh my God!" Shane yelped as Ilya started thrusting two of his fingers now. One of his hand was holding tightly onto Ilya's neck and the other one went down to hold onto the bike for support.

"Say it, omega." Ilya ordered. Shane cried out again and finally managed to mutter "I w-want you to fuck me...alpha... please. I want you so much, alpha, please!"

"You're killing me, sweetheart." Ilya groaned, pumping his fingers more vigorously now. "We gotta work you open first...and then I'll fuck you, just how you deserve to be fucked." He said, leaning in to kiss over Shane's neck, taking in his enhanced scent from all the pleasure. "Your body deserves so much Shane, it's a shame you haven't been fucked properly yet... or fucked at all."

"Oh God, Ilya d-don't speak like that I feel...." Shane whimpered then, feeling his thighs start to shake around Ilya's waist.

"Feel what? Feel like cumming already, baby? You can, I'm not stopping you..." Ilya said and started scissoring his fingers to open up Shane further. "You can cum from my fingers and then from my cock."

"F-feels too much already, I can't.." Shane cried out. This time, there were actual tears rolling down his cheeks. Nobody has ever made Shane cry like this... Shane wasn't a big cryer in general, but thinking of crying during sex? It honestly sounded pathetic to him. Yet, here he was.

"You can, omega, I know you can do it..." Ilya encouraged. "You've been so good for me, sweetheart, go on..."

He thrusted his fingers hard in and out of him. "Let me see you fall apart..."

It was like a switch inside Shane just flipped, and he looked down at his throbbing cock that rested against his stomach, starting to cum all over himself. Completely untouched.

"Look at that..." Ilya said in adoration. "So beautiful, look how much you came already for me, sweet little omega..."

"Oh my God, Ilya, don't..." Shane whined. "I can't, please..."

"I know, omega, I know.." Ilya whispered and finally pulled his fingers out of Shane. "You'll get it."

Shane braced himself harder on the bike once he saw Ilya reach for his cock. He knew it's really happening. This is not a dream anymore or some kind of fantasy he had. He's actually about to have sex, with no other than alpha. One thing in his life he wanted to avoid, is actually happening to him right now.

"Are you ready?" Ilya asked. Shane bit his lip hard and glanced a few times between Ilya's face and his cock before nodding.

"Y-yes." He said, but he sounded unsure. And scared.

"It's gonna hurt but..." Ilya gripped Shane tighter. "I got you, okay? You tell me when to slow down, and I will..."

Shane nodded again. He looked up at Ilya's face again, as looking into Ilya's eyes and Ilya's reassuring gaze helped ease his nerves a little. He felt the tip of Ilya's cock press against him and his whole body tensed once he felt Ilya push inside even the slightest.

"Wait, wait, wait! Ilya!" Shane spoke quickly "Wait, no!"

"Hey, hey, hey, look at me, Shane." Ilya said, his voice soft yet commanding. "Look at me, omega...you're okay. I'm not gonna hurt you."

Shane felt another stream of tears go down his cheeks, gripping Ilya's neck tighter with one hand. "I'm just scared."

"I know..." Ilya shifted closer and hugged Shane close to him. "Here..."

Ilya pulled Shane closer to his neck, letting Shane scent him and letting his pheromones calm the omega down. Shane whimpered as he felt Ilya's scent surround him, nuzzling his nose into the crease between Ilya's neck and shoulder. He rubbed his nose over the skin there, inhaling the scent deeply until he felt it in his bones.

Ilya took that as a chance while Shane was distracted to push the tip inside him. "Is that better?"

"Yes..." Shane exhaled softly. "Alpha... so much better..." Shane purred. Ilya held Shane tightly to his body so he doesn't fall off the bike and continued pushing his cock inside of him, very slowly and very carefully. He stopped every now and then when he heard Shane wince, but Shane being busy taking in Ilya's scent definitely felt more relaxed like this. Definitely not painfree, but the scent helped soothe him so much.

"Is this okay?" Ilya asked once he was halfway in, Shane already being stretched beyond his limits. "Does it hurt?"

"A-a little... fuck." Shane winced. He pressed his lips over Ilya's scent gland and kissed it a few times. "T-this is helping... keep going, please."

Ilya did as he was told to. He slowly eased into Shane until he bottomed out, letting out a long shaky breath as he did so.

"Oh my fucking God... oh my God... Ilya it's... fuck.." Shane whimpered, his hole already clenching around Ilya's cock. It was big. Too fucking big. But it filled him so fucking good, it was like a whole new world.

And for Ilya too. Ilya felt like he was born again. Like he was put on this Earth only to be inside of Shane. Like he finally fullfiled his purpose. He felt like he could breathe in full lung capacity now. It felt so fucking awesome.

"You feel so fucking good around me, omega..." Ilya grunted. He didn't dare to move his hips yet, but even the slightest shift of his or Shane's hips made them both moan and groan. After a few minutes of Shane getting adjusted, he finally spoke. "I-I think you can... now... now, Ilya."

Ilya pulled away from Shane's body only enough to look down at him, and he pulled his hips back, pulling his cock out all the way to the tip before slamming back inside him. Shane opened his mouth, but nothing but a choked out breath came out. His eyes rolled to the back of his head out of pleasure and his whole head lulled to the side.

"Hurts?" Ilya asked as he repeated the motion.

"N-no. Fuck... no..." Shane moaned. "I-it doesn't hurt....it feels good."

"Good, huh?" Ilya said, finding a slow starting pace of his thrusts. Shane was so wet by this point that his cock thrusted in and out of his hole with such ease.

Shane held tightly onto the bike with both hands now. The machine started to rock slightly from Ilya's thrusts. Ilya held Shane by his thighs, rocking his hips in a steady pace.

"Fuck, Ilya...alpha, this feels so good!" Shane cried out, his head falling back from pleasure. His mouth hung open as strings of "ah, ah!" and moans flew out of his mouth with every thrust Ilya made.

"You take me so well.." Ilya growled, a feral, wolf like growl. He leaned in and buried his nose into Shane's chest, huffing and grunting against it. "Such a perfect little omega for me..."

"Alpha, please!" Shane cried out, pushing his chest more to Ilya. He started kissing over Shane's chest, his mouth finding its way to one of Shane's sensitive nipples. Ilya rolled his tongue over the sensitive bud and Shane mewled in response, encouraging him to do it again. Ilya, of course, did, locking is lips around Shane's nipple and sucking on it lightly.

One of Shane's hands flew up and held Ilya's head tightly to his chest, moaning lewdly as Ilya sucked on it.

"Such perfect tits.. perky and beautiful." Ilya praised, trying to look up at Shane from his chest. "All for me, right little one?"

"Shit, yes...yes, it's for you." Shane whimpered, his whole body jerking up and down on the bike as Ilya gradually speeds up his thrusts. Ilya's thrusts became quite ruthless at this point, fucking into Shane as if he hates him.

"Oh, fuck, omega I don't think I can l-last long..." Ilya groaned, licking around Shane's chest.

"Alpha, give it to me...fuck, please, give it to me!" Shane spoke, or better said, his Omega spoke. Shane would never say that. He moved the hand down from Ilya's heas and attached it to his own cock, starting to pump his fist quickly to meet Ilya's thrusts. He felt on edge this whole time, like every second he was close to cumming again. His tip was already swollen and red from his previous orgasm, now turning raw and painful as he jerks himself.

"Are you gonna cum for me again, Omega?" Ilya growls and kisses his way up to Shane's neck again, kissing right over his scent gland.

"Yes! Yes, fuck, it feels so good, it feels so good..." Shane moans and leans into Ilya's kisses, just in time as hot shots of cum start to shoot out of his cock and land over his tummy again.

"You're such a good Omega for me, you came twice sweetheart, making me so proud.." Ilya whispered against Shane's hot and sweaty skin, kissing the tender skin over his scent glands. His own thrusts slowly became erratic and uneven as he felt himself getting close, and knot starting to form at the base of his cock.

But just before it was time to bury himself in, and just as it was time to cum, he pulls out quickly and jerks himself until he cums over Shane's stomach too. It hurts like hell, cumming with a knot not inside an Omega, but Ilya couldn't possibly knot Shane. He was a virgin until few minutes ago, knot would quite literally break him.

But little, insecure Omega Shane didn't seem to agree with that. He whined as he felt Ilya pull out of him, suddenly feeling all empty and desperate.

He let out a little, annoyed omega growl, pulling Ilya close to him so he could bury his face into Ilya's neck again for... soothing purposes. So he doesn't go fully feral on him. "No, alpha, why did you do that? Why did you pull out I..."

"I'm not going to knot you right now, Shane, you're a fucking virgin." Ilya chuckled, his breath uneven and heavy as he tried to collect himself.

"Well, I'm not anymore!" The annoyed Omega in front of him cried out. "And I wanted to know how it feels..."

"Next time, okay?" Ilya said softly, rubbing Shane's back gently. Shane pulled his face away from Ilya's neck and pressed their chests together, looking up at Ilya with a pout. "W-wait...next time? There will be a next time?"

"Of course.." Ilya said and leaned in to press one soft kiss on Shane's lips. "I got you now, pretty boy and I'm not planning on letting you go any time soon..."

Next time.

Those words echoed in Shane's brain louder than they should have. All Shane could think about is how wrong all this is. How wrong everything he just did was and how he should probably feel like the worst person on the planet.

He thought of Liam. His sweet, gentle, caring, loving Liam. Poor Liam, who never pushed, never demanded, who looked at Shane the wrong way, who had nothing but love and respect for him. And Shane had already ruined it. He didn’t even have the right to think about what came next because he’d crossed that line the second his lips touched Ilya’s, the second he let himself give in, the second he stopped caring. The damage was done. There was no undoing it, no pretending it didn’t happen. Especially not now when Ilya and him already had sex. So what now? What kind of person did that make Shane now? Asshole? Cheater? An idiot? A heartless moron? Maybe all of the above? Maybe he does deserve those labels. His stomach twisted at the thought of Liam finding out, of that look on his face, hurt and confused and quiet in the worst way possible. Was this worth that? Was any of this worth hurting someone who had only ever been good to him?

And then Ilya leaned in again, just a brief kiss, and Shane realized.... it was worth it. Unfortunately.

Even for this kiss alone, it was worth it. For Ilya's touch alone, it felt worth it. Hell, even dying for Ilya if he asks feels worth it. Maybe it was just Shane's fucked out brain or his primal instincts speaking now, but Shane couldn't deny it.

Having Ilya and letting himself belong to Ilya like this... it made everything worth it.

July 15th, 2026

Morning

Shane doesn't remember when and how Ilya and him fell asleep. He was drunk on Ilya's kisses, his touch, they ended up making out for hours, even came close to having sex again, but Ilya refused strongly, saying that it already hurt Shane once that night, he doesn't wanna hurt him further. Shane huffed and puffed and really tried to go all angry on Ilya for that, but this annoying, silly pup wouldn't let him breathe from his kisses, so it wasn't that easy, trying to stay angry at Ilya.

They ended up on the ground somehow in that whole making out scene. Ilya had one blanket that he kept in his casette for some critical times when he...had nowhere to sleep. Just so he wasn't cold. Shane didn't want to question the reason he had that blanket there and just let Ilya lay it down on the ground and lay Shane over it. They made out for hours. Seriously, hours. And now, Shane doesn't really remember when exactly they fell asleep.

So now, there he was, waking up. Cold. Ilya was not next to him anymore. He shifted in his sleep, trying to open his eyes but he was blinded by the morning sun shining through the tree branches. He turned to the side and saw Ilya sitting on the edge of the blanket, having a cigarette.

"Morning..." Shane mumbled in his low, morning voice, rubbing his palm over his head. He didn't realize how cold the mornings near the Lunar Falls were, but then again, he never woke up on a morning near Lunar Falls, especially not naked.

"Good morning." Ilya said with a smile, turning around to look at Shane. "I didn't hear you wake up..."

"What time is it?" Shane grumbled. Ilya flicked the cigarette away from him and crawled over to lay across Shane, leaning down to press a few soft kisses over his jaw.

"Way too early for you to be up, little one."

"No, seriously, Ilya...what time is it?" Shane said with a pout. "I didn't even realize we fell asleep..."

"It's around...8, 8:30, something like that?" Ilya said casually.

Fuck.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!!!

Panic spread through his body like wildfire. Because all of the sudden he remembered that he was supposed to be home. Long time ago. Fuck, he was already supposed to be at his grandparent's place at 8 am, which is one hour drive away. Oh he's fucked. He's dead. He's so fucking dead.

"We have to go!" Shane said in panicked voice, pushing Ilya off of him and scrambling up to his feet to get dressed.

"What? Go where? What's wrong with you?" Ilya asked, confused.

"We have to go! Ilya, fuck, get ready, we have to leave, now!" Shane growled, putting on his pants and shoes.

"Shane, you're freaking me out a little bit, care to tell me what the fuck is going on?!" Ilya asked with a frown.

Shane groaned. "Fuck, fuck, fuck!!!" He yelled. "I was supposed to be home already! I was supposed to be home because I was supposed to travel with my parents to my grandma and grandpa's house and we were already meant to be there! Fuck my mom's gonna kill me!"

"Shane, hey...." Ilya stood up to his feet, reaching over for Shane'a hand. "Hey, listen to me, we'll get there, calm down okay?"

"I can't calm down! My mom is gonna kill me! I haven't called her and... and fuck, I told all my friends I'm going home!" Shane's hand shook violently as he managed to put on his shirt somehow. "They're going to kill me, Ilya, who knows what they're thinking now!"

"Hey, hey listen to me please." Ilya stood in front of him, resting his hands on Shane's shoulders. Shane was so upset, so panicked that his whole body was visibly shaking. "Listen to me, it's gonna be okay, I'm gonna drive you there now... want me to go in with you and explain or?"

Shane frowned. "Are you out of your fucking mind?! What do I tell them, sorry guys I was with this random ass alpha in Lunar Falls, fucking last night when I have a boyfriend?"

"Okay." Ilya pouted. "So maybe not come in. Got it."

"Just get fucking dressed and drive me already!" Shane growled, picking up his jacket and putting it on quickly, already getting on the bike. Ilya didn't want to argue any further. He picked up his clothes and got dressed quickly, picking up the blanket and just dumping it in the back casette.

The enging sprung back to life once Ilya was on the bike and Shane just held on tightly. The bike shot forward faster than it probably should have, tires biting into the road as they sped off from Lunar Falls and back toward town. Shane tried not to think, but his thoughts were roaming around his brain faster than the bike. His stomach churned violently, nausea twisting deep in his gut, and he had to swallow hard just to keep from throwing up right there on the back of the bike. He didn't know what to expect when he walks into his house. What if his parents called the police or something? What if all of his friends are at the house as well? What if Liam was there?

His thoughts spiraled so fast it made him dizzy, his breathing turning shallow under the weight of it all, and at one point, he actually wished something hit them right there on that road. A car. A truck. Anything. Just pick them up and make them crash on the side of the road so he doesn't have to face his parents. Awful, I know, but even thinking of facing his mom now felt worse than death.

Because this was the second time now that he had to lie to his mom's face about where he'd been and what he was doing. And if you knew Shane, you know that before Ilya, Shane never lied. Not to anyone. Especially not his parents.

But nothing happened. Of course nothing happened. The road stayed empty, the ride stayed steady, and Ilya didn’t slow down until the familiar streets of Bridgeford started to appear around them. They neared his street, and Ilya parked just arouns the corner.

For a second, he didn’t move. He just sat there, frozen, his hands still gripping Ilya like he didn’t know how to let go. But he knew he had to. Slowly, reluctantly, he pulled his arms back and climbed off the bike, his legs feeling unsteady the moment his feet hit the ground. His hands were shaking as he took the helmet off and put it back in the casette, looking at Ilya again. Ilya pulled his helmet up just enough to look at him.

"I'll see you again, right?" Ilya asked.

Shane let out a shaky breath, glancing toward his house before looking back at him. “Maybe… I don’t know,” he said honestly. “If I survive this… then yeah. Maybe.”

Ilya smiled softly, looking down at Shane's hand. He wanted to reach out and hold it, steady his shaking hand, maybe even pull him to a hug to ease his nerves with his own scent. But he knew it probably wasn't the smartest idea. It's not what Shane wants.

Instead, he huffed out a small laugh. "I hope if you don't survive you won't come back to hunt me for putting you into this mess.."

But Shane didn't laugh. He didn't find it funny. So Ilya didn’t push it. Instead, he leaned in just slightly, pressing a quick kiss to the tip of his own finger before gently tapping that same finger against Shane’s lips. It was his way of affection, when one couldn't be shown. No matter how much the alpha and omega wanted it.

"You'll be okay," Ilya said softly before putting his helmet back down. "I'll see you around, little one."

Shane nodded and stepped back from the bike. Ilya kicked the bike back to life and sped off, leaving only dust and memories of last night for Shane to hold onto. To help him go through whatever was waiting for him now.

Shane stood there for a moment more before taking a deep breath and turning to his street, walking to his house. Each step toward his house felt heavier than the last, his chest tightening with every inch closer to the front door. His hand hovered over the handle for a second, mind racing through every scenario and every excuse he could come up with, but then he finally pushed the door open.

"Where the hell have you been, Shane Hollander?!" The voice of Yuna Hollander echoed through the hallway, landing into Shane's face like a punch. "Do you have any idea how scared I was, I almost called the police a few minutes ago!"

First of all, Shane was so thankful that she didn't.

"I'm sorry, mom, I just..." Shane tried, but Yuna didn't give him a second to breathe. Her hands were as shaky as his, the obvious distress in her voice and on her face. "Do you have any idea what you put me and your father through this morning when we opened the door to your room and you weren't there?!"

"I know I just..."

"And don't even get me started on your phone! I called a hundred times, did you lose it again?!"

"N-no, mom, my battery ran out... I'm really sorry, I...."

"What?!" Yuna yelled, putting her hand over her chest as if she was trying to calm down. "What now?! What excuse do you have now, Shane?"

"I just... I slept at Liam's last night and...my phone died, that's all mom. I'm so sorry, we slept in and... I'm really sorry, okay?"

The look on Yuna's face made it seem like she wasn't buying it. Honestly, he didn't know how convincing he sounded, but that was the best he could do now.

Instead of shouting, Yuna's voice turned softer. But not soft.... almost disappointed.

"What is happening to you, Shane?" Yuna frowned. "Since when did you turn like this? Since when do you not answer my calls and don't come home at night...? Since when did you start lying to me like this?"

"Mom, I'm not lyi-"

"Go to your room." Yuna ordered. "Go to your room, right now. Since you're behaving like a pre-teen looking for trouble, you might as well get treated like one!" She said with a frown. "You won't leave that room until you decide to stop lying to me and tell me where you've been the entire night!"

"Mom, I am not lying I swear!" Shane tried to defend himself, but it was pointless.

"You reek of cigarettes Shane. You wanna tell me now that you smoke too? Or that Liam smokes?"

Shane opened his mouth, but closed it just as fast. Because he couldn't argue with that. He knew she saw through him and read him like an open book. But he couldn't possibly, ever in his life tell her what actually happened last night.

"Go to your room, Shane." She said, in much calmer, but disappointed voice. "I'm so disappointed at you, son. This is not like you."

Shane looked down to his feet and chewed on his lip to fight back the tears forming in his eyes. He disappointed his mom. That was the one thing he never wanted to hear in his life. He disappointed her and...for what? For an alpha?

Shane moped up the stairs slowly, head still hanging low all the way to his room. He only raised it once he was inside his room and once the door were locked.

Instead of taking a shower like last time, he went to his nest right away. He needed comfort. He needed something, anything to get this God-awful feeling of guilt in his chest.

The scent of Ilya rubbed on from him to his nest. He could feel him...as if he was there. Which was just slightly comforting.

He closed his eyes and tried to recollect his thoughts about all the crazy shit that happened to him last night.

He just lost his virginity.

On a damn motorcycle.

In middle of nowhere, Lunar Falls.

To an alpha he barely knows.

It was the most insane experience of his life.

Sure, he disappointed his mom. Yes, it's fucking awful. Yes, he will never in his life forgive himself for it. Never. Never.

But was it worth it? It was damn worth it.

Shane smiled at those thoughts.

Bridgeford, ON, Canada

Shane hasn't left his house in quite a few days. It was slightly embarrassing at first, the fact that he was grounded at eighteen, when Shane was never previously grounded in his life. But his mom was seriously angry with him.

Every time he would go downstairs to get food, or drink, or just to see his parents because he's bored sitting in his room, her interrogation would start all over again.

"So did you decide to tell me finally where you've been that night?"

"Do you realize what me and your father went through?"

"You shortened my lifespan by 10 years in last two weeks, Shane."

And every time, Shane would repeat the same lie, that he slept over at Liam's place and they just overslept, that he's sorry and that he will never make the same mistake again. But she didn't buy any of his excuses and she would just send him back to his room.

To Liam and his other friends, he lied that he's sick. Honestly, Shane has been lying so much in past days that it's becoming his second nature... and he absolutely hated that about himself. But the fact was that he was willing to lie, as much as he has to, to protect his secret. To protect Ilya.

"When can I come and see you, baby?" Liam asked over the phone, one night while Shane was laying in the bed.

"I don't know..." he faked a cough, and just prayed that Liam would believe it, because it sounded awfully fake. "Maybe in couple days, my cough is still there and I don't know, my whole body feels painful."

"But I want to help you." Liam cooed. "My heart is breaking that my boyfriend is far from me right now, hurting and I can't just help him... can I at least bring you over some medicine? Or my mom can make you her chicken soup, you know, she makes a mean chicken soup."

Shane bit his lip. "I know, Liam, I'm so sorry... but just for a few more days, okay? I don't want you to catch whatever I have..."

"Fine, baby." Liam sighed. "Oh, by the way, did you hear what J.J did today?"

And that's how Shane spent most of his days and nights in the house. He would sit or lay on his bed, talk to Liam or any of his friends for hours, and if any of them were busy, he would just read books or study from the uni materials he had. He was so bored, especially after hearing stories of Hayden, J.J, Rose, going out to picnics, hikes, just enjoying their last summer in their hometown.

He missed them all so much.

But most of all.... he missed Ilya. He wondered if Ilya thought of him just as much as Shane thought of Ilya. He wondered if Ilya thought of the same memories he did. If Ilya wanted him again just as much as he wanted Ilya.

Those thoughts scared him so much. He shouldn't be thinking that, especially seeing how much trouble Ilya is getting him in and what kind of person Shane is turning into because of Ilya. But the worst part wasn't the guilt, or the fear, or the consequences that this, whatever him and Ilya had, were bringing. It was the fact that there was nothing strong enough to make Shane feel like he had to stop. To say goodbye to Ilya forever. It didn’t feel like a choice anymore, it didn’t feel like something he could logic his way out of or bury under excuses about right and wrong. It felt… inevitable. Like something already written long before he had any say in it. Like there was this invisible thread tied somewhere deep inside his chest, thin but unbreakable, pulling him in a direction he knew he shouldn’t go, tightening every time he tried to resist it.

And no matter how much he tried to tell himself that this is wrong, that bringing pain to others like this is not the way out, there was one painful truth that Shane realized: being pulled to Ilya didn't feel wrong in the way it should have been. It felt like gravity and it felt like something he couldn't escape.

But he also couldn't afford to lose Liam. Liam seriously made Shane happy, however stupid that sounded, it was true. Shane really liked Liam. And he saw how much Liam liked him back, how much he appreciated him, how Shane was Liam's whole world these past few months. And Shane knew that Liam didn't deserve any of this, he was way too sweet to have Shane play behind his back like this, but just the thought of breaking Liam's heart made Shane want to throw up, because seriously, he never wanted to hurt Liam. That was never his intention.

Maybe just a little longer. Just until he realizes clearly in his head what he wants, because now he's not completely sure.

July 19th, 2026

It was Sunday and Shane started to think he was slowly, but surely, losing his mind. He felt like a bird trapped in a cage and his mom was not letting go. He seriously felt like he was fourteen years old again and just gotten into first of his many troubles and now his parents are grounding him, not letting him go out and play for the whole summer. This is ridiculous.

It was late already, and Liam as he told him has already gone to bed as him and his family were going on a week-long vacation tomorrow. Shane tried to beg his mom to let him go out that evening with Liam, just so he can say goodbye as he didn't see him for four days already, and he's not gonna see him for whole week more! But no, Yuna Hollander was not the type of person to let go that easily. This was stupid. Absolutely incredibly stupid.

There he was, laying on his bed, with a book in his hands but he wasn't really paying that much attention to it.

His phone buzzed against the mattress beside him, screen lighting up the dim room, but he only glanced at it for a second before looking away again. Unknown number. He frowned slightly and let it ring out, shifting on his side and pretending to focus on the same line in the book he’d been rereading for the past five minutes. But then the phone kept ringing, again, and again, and again, until it was impossible for Shane to ignore it anymore.

He sat up on his bed and reached over for his phone, picking up the call with a frown. "Hello?"

There was no response on the other side. Only soft breathing could be heard.

"Hello?" Shane repeated again. "Who is this?"

For a second, he almost thought it was some kind of mistake. Or a prank. His grip on the phone tightened, ready to hang up, but...

"Hey there, little one."

Shane's whole body went still and his insides turned slightly gooey as Ilya's soft voice echoed from the other side. Shane could swear he felt tears starting to gather at the corners of his eyes.

"Ilya...?"

"Missed me?"

"Oh my God..." Shane sighed and rubbed his palm against his face. "Ilya what...how did you..."

"How did I get your number? I have connections in this town." He chuckled, but then his voice turned soft again. "Are you okay, Shane? How are you?"

Shane bit his lip as one tear rolled down his cheek. "No. No I'm not okay, Ilya." He sniffed, trying to keep his voice down as much as possible so his mom doesn't hear him. "I fucked up so bad... this whole thing, I... my mom is so angry and she's like keeping me locked in my room like I'm Rapunzel and I can't go out and... this is so messed up, all of this and I just want..."

"Hey, hey, Shane.." Ilya cooed from the other side. "I'm so sorry. This was all my fault..."

"No, don't apologize, it's not.."

"Yes, it is." Ilya sighed. "I mean... it was my idea to go there and we got carried away, I didn't even think that maybe you.."

"No, Ilya. This is my fault... I mean... I loved that night so much but if I knew I had plans in the morning I shouldn't have agreed to go with you in the first place.."

There was a moment of silence on the other side.

"Do you... do you regret it, Shane?"

"What?" Shane frowned again. "No, Ilya. Did you hear what I just said? I said I loved it I... the timing was wrong. This whole thing, the timing is....so wrong. On so many levels."

"Do you...wish you could repeat it?"

Shane bit his lip. "Don't ask me questions like that when you know the answer."

"Well uh... I'm.. just around the corner you know." Ilya started.

"Ilya." Shane warned.

"If you want, you can sneak out... we can go for a quick ride and I'll get you back there in an hour. Pinky promise."

"Are you insane? Haven't you heard that I'm grounded?"

"Yes but... your parents are asleep, right? You can sneak out the window and I promise I'll get you back there before 1 am. I promise." Ilya sighed. "I just need to see you Shane. Please."

Ilya's voice sounded really sincere. Shane could swear that he could even hear his voice crack in the end. But this was so beyond reckless...

"Ilya, I don't know, I... if they catch me, I will actually never leave my house, ever in my life."

"I promise I will get you back home in an hour, okay? I promise, Shane."

Shane sighed and shook his head. "You are insane. You, stupid alpha, will get me killed one day. I'll be there in ten minutes, okay?"

Shane barely wasted a second once he hung up. He grabbed the first hoodie he could find off the chair, pulling it over his head while hopping on one foot to get into a pair of jeans. He paused at the bed, quickly stuffing a pillow under the blanket, shaping it with a couple of impatient pats until it vaguely resembled a body. Another pillow went on top, tugged just enough to look convincing in the dark. It wasn’t perfect, but it would do. Just to at least try and make it look as if there was someone sleeping there, just in case his mom walks in.

The window creaked softly as he pushed it open. Shane swung one leg out, testing his weight against the familiar tree branch. His fingers curled tight around the rough bark as he shifted his balance, pulling himself out carefully before lowering his body down. The branch dipped slightly under him, leaves rustling as he slid his hands lower, gripping, releasing, gripping again, until his shoes finally hit the ground with a muted thud. For a second, he just stood there, glancing back up at his window. He hasn't done this in ages, climbing out through the window and onto this tree to sneak out. And every time he did it, it was when he was a little boy and it was to sneak out and play in his back garden while his mom thought he was in his room doing homework.

He shook off the thoughts and ran down the street right away. He ran as if his life depended on it, as if he seriously needed to get away from that house as quickly as possible. His breathing was heavy but he kept going until he reached the corner of the street, and there he was. Ilya was waiting for him. Leaning against his bike, like he'd been waiting for forever. And Shane didn't slow down, if anything, he sped up even more. Ilya straightened the moment he saw him, one arm already opening, and Shane crashed into him with such force that it pushed them both back a few steps. Shane wrapped his arms tightly around Ilya's neck and pulled him down until their lips met.

The kiss was rough and needy from the start, as if they've both been starved for days and this kiss right now was their food. Shane pressed in closer, one hand sliding up into Ilya's hair. Ilya's grip tightened on Shane's waist and he tilted his head to the side, deepening the kiss.

This was reckless, and both of them knew it. Anyone could see them. One of Shane's friends could drive by and see them kissing like that. But did he give a fuck? Absolutely not.

Not now that he finally had Ilya's lips back on him.

"We have to go." Ilya spoke in kiss. But Shane wasn't really ready to just stop kissing him yet. He cupped Ilya's cheeks gently and flicked his tongue over Ilya's bottom lip, sliding it into his mouth right after. Ilya slid his hands under Shane's hoodie and traced the soft skin of his hips and tummy with his fingers. Shane let out a broken sound into Ilya's mouth, their tongues dancing together in perfecty rhythm.

"We have to go, little one..." Ilya spoke again after a minute. "Not here."

Shane pulled away, reluctantly and with a whine, kissing Ilya peck a few more times before stepping away from him. "Where are we going?"

"I don't know. I'll find out." Ilya said and picked up his helmet. "Get on."

Shane knew where to find the other one already and he picked it up, put it on and quickly got on the back of the bike, behind Ilya. This was already familiar to him, and even though it was only his third time on a bike ever, he wasn't scared anymore. He wrapped his arms around Ilya, and he drove off quickly, leaving behind Shane's street and leaving behind Bridgeford soon. They knew they didn't have time to travel far this time as they only had an hour with each other, so as soon as they were out of Bridgeford and the forest appeared, Ilya just parked on the side of the road.

"Here?" Shane asked with a pout as he took his helmet off.

"We don't really have whole night again to travel around."

"No, we don't but..."

"But what?" Ilya frowned. Shane bit down on his lower lip and got off the bike to stand in front of Ilya. "Just...what if someone drives by?"

"No one will. Look at the time." Ilya said and pressed up against Shane, backing him up against the bike again. Shane sat up on the bike, looking up at Ilya. "You sure?"

Shane found himself bent over the bike faster than he expected. Ilya wasn't going slow on him at all, not with the limited time they had tonight. And they were both overly horny anyways, like two hormonal teenagers. Poor Shane, he had to hold onto that bike so tightly that he feared they're gonna just roll over it. Because Ilya was like a feral animal that night. He held tightly onto Shane's hips until his knuckles went white and until Shane's skin went red and purple. His balls were slamming into Shane with every hard thrust and when it was time, he finally slid his knot inside of Shane, pumping him full of cum. Probably not the smartest idea, but when did they ever have a smart idea?

"Oh my God!" Shane cried out as the knot stretched him, actual tears rolling down his cheeks. "Fuck, Ilya, it's too much, it's too fucking much!"

"Hey, listen to me.." Ilya spoke softly, pressing his upper half against Shane's back "The less you move, the less it will hurt..."

"Oh my God, I did not fucking expect this. Holy fucking shit... fuck.." Shane tried to breathe, but his brain focused only on the stretch in his hole, as if that was the center of gravity in that moment. Ilya's knot was big and heavy inside of him, the cum still pumping out of him warming him up to some degree, but it was still not enough to distract him from the sting.

"You did so fucking well for me..." Ilya whispered and pressed kisses all over Shane's back. "My perfect little omega, always so good for me and now you're even taking my knot..."

"Fuck, Ilya." Shane whimpered, melting under his kisses. "This was so hot, but holy shit the knot.."

"I know, little one. I know it must be a bitch, but... you'll get used to it."

You'll get used to taking my knot over and over and over again, little Omega.

Shane bit his lip and tried to look over his shoulder at Ilya. "How long until it goes down for you?"

"It depends. Sometimes couple minutes, sometimes up to twenty minutes, there's never a strict rule."

"Twenty minutes?!" Shane's eyes widened. "We're gonna stay locked like this for twenty minutes?"

"That's a maybe." Ilya pouted. "And why? Do you not wanna be locked with me? Got somewhere better to be?"

"No, I didn't mean like..." Shane groaned. "Fuck, Ilya, I didn't mean it like that just... for God's sake, we're on the side of the street, butt naked and what if someone drives by and sees us?"

"I think if no one drove by in last ten minutes while I was fucking you, no one is gonna drive by now." Ilya said, moving one hand up to caress Shane's cheek softly. "Can you relax for once?"

"It's not that easy to relax for me when whenever I'm with you I feel on edge."

Ilya frowned. "So it's my fault then?"

"I didn't mean it like that." Shane said quickly. "It's just.... the whole hiding thing."

"So break up with that boyfriend of yours and we won't have to hide. Can you imagine, it's as simple as that Shane?"

"No, it's not so simple, Ilya."

"How is it not simple? The hiding bothers you, yet you don't wanna break up with him and stop hiding?"

"Can we not talk about this while your knot is still inside me please?" Shane sighed.

"You started it."

"Shut up already." Shane said and shifted his hips slightly, letting out a moan as he felt Ilya's knot move inside of him.

"If you keep moaning, this thing won't ever go down." Ilya said and pressed Shane's hips down. "And stop squirming around too."

The knot ended up going down a few minutes later. When Ilya slid his cock out of Shane, he felt weirdly empty. And sad. He got dressed and yet he still felt like crying. Which was awful because... why would he feel sad because he's empty now and Ilya's knot was out of him? That makes no fucking sense.

Ilya got dressed too and picked up his pack of cigarettes, lighting one up before they get going. He leaned against his bike as he smoked and Shane scooted closer in front of him, and leaned in, hugging Ilya and laying his head on Ilya's chest. It helped the sadness. The scent helped too. He had to distract himself from this feeling inside his stomach because he's all empty now.

Ilya exhaled a puff of smoke and brought his non-occupied arm up to Shane's back, rubbing gentle circles over it. "Everything okay, little one? Did I hurt you?"

Shane shook his head quickly, nuzlling his face against alpha's chest. "No, you didn't... I'm just... sad."

Ilya looked down at the cuteness under him, Shane's face buried in his chest as if he was scenting him, his small hands gripping the fabric of his shirt. "Why are you sad, what's wrong?"

"I don't know. I feel empty and sad. I never felt this before just..." Shane exhaled loudly. "Just let me stay like this for a bit, okay?"

"Pup, you can scent me as long as you want now, but we have to go soon." Ilya said, followed by Shane's whine. Post-orgasm Shane was honestly the cutest, it's as if his Omega surfaces and he turns into this cute little puppy in need for attention.

"I know just... I need something to cling onto until I meet you next time, okay? Let me scent you, I want to remember your scent..."

Ilya sighed and pulled him for a tighter hug. "I know... I know, trust me. I feel the same kinda.."

"You..." Shane looked up at him. "You missed me too?"

"Of course I did." Ilya smiled weakly, like a broken smile. "Why do you think I called you in the middle of the night?"

The truth was... Ilya had probably the worst week of his life. One of the main reasons Ilya took Shane to a dark place, with no light source and the reason he had Shane bent over and facing away from him is so he didn't have to see the ugly bruises on his sides, the ugly purple shade on his ribs. He had probably one of the worst fights of his life with his older brother and it escalated so much that they actually got into a physical fight. A few scratches on his arms here and there, but Ilya got a few pretty strong blows to his ribs that it was actually difficult to breathe properly. After that, his father told him to officially pack all of his belongings and get lost. Those exact words, but in Russian of course. So... Ilya is technically homeless now? Well, not really, of course. He managed to get Wyatt to let him sleep at his place, technically in garage they practiced in. It had a little old couch, and honestly Ilya didn't really need more than that. Anything was better than the idea of sleeping in a park.

But this sweet, little Omega didn't need to know all that. Not now. Not yet.

"I think I'm gonna break up with Liam..." Shane said after a few minutes of silence. Ilya looked down at him again. "What?"

Shane gulped. "Like... maybe not tomorrow right away because, he's on trip with his parents but... when he comes back I... think I'm gonna break up with him."

"Shane.."

"I can't hurt him like this and I can't possibly stay away from you. I don't know what it is about you but... I just can't. I want you too much. But Liam doesn't deserve this..."

"Are you sure about that?" Ilya asked. Shane didn't reply but he just nodded. Honestly, Shane wasn't sure. He wasn't sure about any of this, nothing with Ilya should be taken for granted, hell, they don't even know each other properly. But it was just obvious enough that they can't seem to stay away from each other.

Ilya let out a little sigh and leaned down to press a soft kiss on Shane's lips. Shane tangled his fingers in Ilya's hair and brought him closer, deepening the kiss. The kiss went on for minutes, Ilya completely forgetting about his cigarette until he felt warmth around his fingers, the cigarette burning to the filter. "Fuck!" He winced as it burned him slightly, throwing it away from him as far as it went. Shane let out a little chuckle and put his head on Ilya's shoulder. "You know, smoking is really bad for you."

"Yeah... many other things are too, but I still do them." He shrugged.

"Like what?"

"Oh, I don't know...drinking? Driving fast? Smoking weed?"

Shane chewed on his lip. "Do you... do you ever plan on stopping all those?"

Ilya was silent for a moment. He looked away from Shane and somewhere to the right, looking into the dark. "I don't know Shane. I haven't yet found the right reason to give up all of those..."

Shane felt something weird bubbling in his stomach. Because he wanted to scream: I will be your reason! I don't want to see you die on your bike, or drink yourself into an early grave, Ilya, I will be whatever you need me to!

But of course, he couldn't say that.

"Let's go... the one hour mark is already up and I have to go back now."

"Of course." Ilya said.

~

By the time they reached Shane's street again, Shane had that same feeling in his chest like the last time he had to say goodbye to Ilya. Pain.

"So uh... I guess I'll see you soon?" Ilya asked from his bike, helmet fully off now.

"I guess..." Shane sighed. "I don't know how long my mom plans on keeping me locked up in there. But you know, now that you have my number, you can text me whenever you want? If you want, of course..." Shane said quickly.

Ilya chuckled and reached out to hold his hand. "You're cute, little one. Of course, I'll text you. You'll wish I didn't."

"That's impossible." Shane said with a small smile.

"Hey, do you..." Ilya bit his lower lip, his gaze shifting down before it went up to Shane again. "Hold on..."

Shane watched with a pout as Ilya took off his hoodie, leaving him only in a thin tank top on a (relatively) cold July night.

"Ilya, what are you doing, you're gonna get sick!"

"Here." Ilya smiled and passed Shane the hoodie. "Take it... in case you miss me or if you wanna put it... you know."

Shane looked down at the hoodie, then back up at Ilya. "For me? For my nest?" he said. His Omega was bouncing from happiness inside of him, squealing in excitement because his alpha gave him his scent for his nest.

"If you want it, I mean, you don't have to... I just thought.."

"No, Ilya, I love it..." Shane smiled and leaned forward to hug him. "Thank you, alpha... for your scent."

Ilya wrapped his arms tightly and possesively around Shane. "You're welcome, little one." He smiled. "But I have to go now, okay?"

"Yeah.." Shane pulled away reluctantly, clutching the hoodie close to his chest. "Text me when you get home, okay?"

Ilya smiled bitterly at that. What home?

"Of course... good night, Shane."

"Good night, Ilya." Shane said and stepped back from the bike. Each step back hurt more than the previous one. He watched Ilya put on his helmet and ride off down the street, turning around the corner and only when Ilya was out of his sight did Shane move. He walked down the street and toward his house, holding Ilya's hoodie tightly to his chest. He couldn't wait to put it in his nest, to cuddle it, to fall asleep to Ilya's scent, finally a real one in his nest. He knew it wouldn't be a real thing, but at least he can imagine it as if Ilya was there, hugging him.

He climbed back into his room and was very grateful to see it just as he left. His mom and dad were still asleep in their rooms which made Shane extremely happy. This night was a success. Shane quickly changed back into his PJ shorts and a random t-shirt, eager to just put the hoodie in the nest where it belonged and to just crawl in.

Shane hovered over the edgr of the nest, thinking of placement at first. He needed it to feel just right. He placed it in the middle at first, but his face twisted right away because he just wasn't satisfied with it. A quiet, irritated sound slipped past his lips as he immediately reached back in, tugging it free again and shaking it out before laying it down more carefully this time. Still wrong. His brows furrowed as the Omega was getting grumpier and grumpier, and also irritated with the clash of scents. It was too much him and not enough Ilya.

"Ugh, why is this so fucking difficult.." he muttered under his breath, already grabbing one of his old shirts and yanking it our, throwing it somewhere on the floor far away from the nest. Then another followed, and another, until the space felt cleaner, emptier. Only then did he try again, placing the hoodie right at the center, smoothing it down slowly. And finally, it clicked. It felt right. The omega inside him purred.

He finally got into the nest and laid down, cuddling to the hoodie. The scent was too much, too overwhelming, making him smile right away. He felt fuzzy on the inside, protected, as if the alpha was right there with him, protecting him and the nest. His alpha.

Shane smiled as he closed his eyes.

Then his lip trembled.

Then a tear rolled down his cheek quietly.

He wasn't exactly sure why he was crying, but there he was. Clutching the hoodie for support and soothing, but he ended up crying until early hours of the morning.

July 27th, 2026

Bridgeford, ON, Canada

Who would've thought one month of the summer vacation was already gone?

Truthfully, he spent almost half of the month locked in his room. But three days ago, it seemed like some switch flipped in his mom's brain and she just called him down and apologized for acting like that. He felt weird because... why is she the one apologizing? Is she testing him? But no, Yuna Hollander was damn serious. She apologized for treating him like a pre-teen and not trusting him more, saying how if she doesn't trust him now, she won't survive him living in Ottawa on his own, so she had to trust him now and had to come to terms that her baby is not her baby anymore and he's all grown up and has right to stay up all night if he wants to. That almost made both of them tear up.

Little did she know that ever since that first night Shane snuck out with Ilya, he's been sneaking out almost every night after that. It didn't matter if it was for an hour, for a quick fuck or if they spent the whole night out and Shane crawled back in just before sunrise, they were together whole night. Sex with Ilya was an opportunity too good to miss. And ever since the first time he knotted him, Shane couldn't go one day without having a knot inside him, otherwise he would turn all grumpy on Ilya even over the messages.

But today, Liam was coming back from his vacation. He already texted Shane that morning that him and his family are on their way back to Bridgeford and Shane was restless. Because he knew today he has to break up with Liam.

He was mentally and emotionally preparing himself for that conversation whole morning. He ran through the scenarios, picking and choosing what is the best way to tell Liam without hurting him too much. There was no easy way to break up, that was Shane's conclusion. Whatever he said, Liam is going to be heartbroken. And Shane couldn't believe he's about to lose his first, actual boyfriend. And the best one he probably had so far.

Around five in the afternoon, Liam called him, saying that he was back, he showered and was already on his way to pick up Shane. To say that Shane's heart was beating a thousand beats per minute was an understatement.

He waited on the porch for him, pacing around and chewing on his lip. His lip was already close to bleeding from how much Ilya bit him last night there, but now he was just making it rawer and hurt even more. Maybe he was supposed to hurt. He's supposed to be the one in pain. For what he's about to do to Liam.

Liam came running once he turned the corner on Shane's street, running to Shane's porch and straight into Shane's hug. The moment Liam crashed into him, Shane wrapped his arms around him just as tightly, almost instinctively. And it felt good. Liam felt warm and familiar again. He had missed him. God, he really had. The past week felt off without him, quieter, emptier in places Shane hadn’t even realized Liam filled.

“Baby…” Liam breathed out against his ear, pulling back just enough to look at him, a wide smile breaking across his face. “I missed you so much.”

"I missed you too..." Shane said quietly, keeping his arms wrapped around Liam's neck. Liam leaned in and closed the distance between them, pressing a soft but hungry kiss on Shane's lips. Shane, of course, kissed him back automatically. But there was something wrong twisting in his gut. It didn’t feel the way it was supposed to.

Before that uncomfortable feeling spread through his entire body, Shane pulled away. His hands slipped from Liam’s neck down to his shoulders and he forced a small smile, already stepping half a pace away. "Hey, uh... let's go for a walk?"

"Yeah... of course.." Liam smiled.

So they went for a walk. They walked laps and laps around the closest park. Their hands found each other easily, fingers lacing together like they always did, like nothing had changed. But everything had. Shane could feel it in the way his grip wasn’t as firm, in how aware he was of every little movement, every brush of their hands. Meanwhile, Liam was nonstop yapping: about the trip, the vacation, the people there, the food he tried out, everything, he wasn't shutting up.

Shane nodded, forcing out small reactions here and there, but his mind was nowhere near the story. It was flooded with plans of the conversation they were about to have, just repeating the same sets of sentences in his head.

"It's not you Liam, it's me. I don't feel like this is going anywhere. I really care about you but I think we should stop before it gets too serious..."

Nothing seemed to he subtle enough or soft enough to not break him. He kept waiting for the right moment to start it, but with Liam's excited talk about his vacation, Shane couldn't really find the right moment. He couldn't even look at him, smiling like that anymore, knowing that he will wipe that smile off of his face soon.

By the time they stopped to get lemonades, Shane’s nerves were so tight he felt like he might snap. Liam suggested they take a seat on a nearby bench and they did. Shane stared down at his drink for a second, his fingers tightening around it.

This was it. This was the moment.

"Liam.." Shane said, quietly at first. "Babe, I...I think I have something to tell you.."

"Me too, baby.." Liam said. Shane snapped his head up at him. "You..you too? What do you have to say?"

"No, no, you first Shane." Liam smiled.

"No, go ahead, I wanna hear you first."

"Alright I..." Liam took a deep breath. "Actually, no, close your eyes, ok?"

Shane looked at him with a pout.

"I promise, it's cute. Close your eyes, please?"

There was something about the way Liam said it, gentle, hopeful, that made Shane’s resistance crumble far too easily. Slowly he closed his eyes shut. He could hear Liam shifting slightly in front of him, the faint rustle of fabric, the quiet hitch of breath. Shane’s own breathing turned uneven, his hands curling into his jeans. His heart pounded way too hard in his chest.

"Okay baby, now open them."

Shane opened his eyes slowly. Liam was sitting there, right in front of him, holding a small box in his hands, already open. Inside, resting against the soft lining, was a ring. Small ring, nothing special, nothing too flashy.... but a god damn ring. Shane's first reaction was to only blink. Once. Twice. Then he parted his mouth slowly.

"Liam... Liam what is this?" His voice came out quiet, too quiet, almost like a whisper.

"Hey, okay, don't freak out," Liam chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his neck. But his eyes... his eyes were steady, his look soft and full of affection. "I'm not proposing or anything. Not yet."

Not yet.

“I just… I didn’t know what to get you,” Liam continued, glancing down at the ring for a second before looking back up at Shane. “And then I saw this and I just...I don’t know. I could see it on your hand. It felt right.”

Shane couldn't move. He couldn't breathe properly. He couldn't look away.

“It’s not an engagement ring,” Liam added gently. “But… think of it as a promise ring.” He swallowed, and for a second, there was something vulnerable in his expression, something raw and genuine. “Because, Shane… I love you. Like, really love you. And I can’t imagine my life without you in it.”

Each word felt like it was pressing down on Shane’s chest, heavier and heavier.

“You mean too much to me,” Liam went on, his voice quieter now, but more certain than ever. “So I just… I want to promise myself to you. My body, my soul, my heart… it all belongs to you now, Shane Hollander.”

Shane felt like his whole world was shattering. His head was running wild, a thousand miles per hour, yet it felt emptier than ever with Liam's words echoing through it.

"I-I..." he tried, but nothing he wanted to say came out right. Every word broke apart in his throat before he even managed to say it. "I..."

But Liam just smiled, soft and understanding, completely misreading the silence. “I know, it’s a lot,” he said gently. “You don’t have to say anything right now.”

And then Liam reached for his hand.

Shane should’ve pulled away. He should’ve.

But he didn’t.

His fingers felt numb as Liam slid the ring onto them. And just like that, it was there... like it always belonged there. Like it was made exactly for Shane's finger. Shane’s breath caught sharply as he stared down at it, his entire body going still. His thumb brushed over it instinctively, turning it slightly, because it didn't feel real. He must be dreaming right? He is supposed to break up with Liam just now, this can't be happening.

"So..." Liam's voice cut him out of his thoughts. "What did you wanna tell me baby?"

Shane went completely still again. This was his chance, this was the moment right now to just split his heart open and say everything. Admit.

I want to break up with you.

There is someone else.

I don’t know what’s happening to me.

But they wouldn’t come out. His gaze dropped back down to the ring, his thumb tracing over it again, slower this time.

"Nothing..." Shane said quietly. He shook his head slightly, forcing something that barely resembled a smile as he looked back up. “Nothing, baby. Forget about it.”

Ilya spent yet another sleepless night in Wyatt's garage. Drunk and high out of his mind. He didn't bother switching any light on, not while he was just sitting on the couch, bottle of vodka in his left hand and a joint in his right, being the only source of light that night. What was even the point of turning on the light? There's nothing to see. He felt like he belonged in the dark. Like his whole life past six years were dark, so why does he need light now?

He took another slow drag of his second joint that night, feeling like this hit, this inhale might actually do something for him. Make him feel something, anything... but no. The emptiness didn't go away. It always felt like he had a huge hole in his chest that nothing could ever fill.

Except...

No. He shut that thought down immediately, jaw tightening.

Because that was the problem, wasn’t it? The only time he didn’t feel like this, like he was rotting from the inside out, was when he was with Shane. He was the only one able to fill the void inside Ilya's chest, even if it was for a few hours Ilya would see him.

He tipped the bottle back, taking a longer sip this time. He barely even felt the sting anymore as the liquid made its way down his throat. His tolerance had built up fast, too fast, but he always joked that's because he was a true Russian. Totally not because ever since he was fifteen, he would drink way too often. And that was his enchanted circle that night... Drink. Smoke. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. None of it fixed anything.

How the hell did it end up like this? Why is it only him that feels like suffering in this world, what the hell did he do for the little time he lived on this Earth to end up with this kind of punishment?

Is this his punishment for not being a good son? For not saving his mom in time? He needed answer.

This can't be his life now. Sleeping on a worn-out couch in Wyatt’s garage, living out of a bag, pretending like it was temporary when deep down he had no idea where else he’d go.

Was there even place for him anywhere?

Because for Ilya right now, it didn't feel like there was anything he could call home. Family. Pack. Sure, he had people he could rely on to maybe let him sleep over but... there seemed like there was no one truly there, willing to help Ilya.

Except...

There was always that one, stupid, fragile exception in his mind. Shane. Shane felt like home. Shane felt like warmth. Like warm cookies and milk on Sunday morning in a happy house. Like sun kissing his skin back in Lunar Falls. Like his mom's voice, back in the kitchen. Like the Moonlight Sonata on her violin.

But everything else besides Shane was dark. Emptiness. Storms. Hail. Thunders. Hurricanes. End of the world catastrophies. Everything but Shane.

His jaw tightened slightly again at the thought, though there was no real anger behind it. He was too tired for that.

Did anyone even notice?

And not in some surface-level shit. Not the drinking or the smoking or the attitude. That was easy to see. But the rest of it. Ilya's face that didn't resemble his anymore if you even looked close enough. Nights like this, lack of sleep, lack of energy.

Did anyone see that? Or did they just not care enough to look?

His grip tightened slightly around the bottle again, knuckles paling for a moment before relaxing. Why did he even think like this? It's not like thinking will change anything.

He took another drag of his joint and let his head relax back against the couch.

Maybe this truly was his punishment, and he is meant to live through it. If there are pits of hell, if they really exist, they are not filled with fire and rocks and screaming. They are emptiness, quiet and hollowness in his chest, people who avoid him, people who hate him and not having the people he loves next to him. That is Ilya's hell.

~

"Are you drunk again?" Wyatt asked as soon as he stepped into the garage that morning. Ilya didn't even know that morning came. "Jesus Christ, man, this place stinks!"

"Morning to you too, Hayes." Ilya mumbled drunkly from his spot on the couch, the bottle of vodka now fully empty next to him.

Wyatt walked next to him and picked up the empty bottle, the discarded joint and cigarette butts off the floor and throwing them in the bin close to the couch. "Jeez, man, I really don't mind you staying here but if my mom and dad find all this..."

"I know..." Ilya muttered. "I know, they'll throw me out....again. I know it all Wyatt..." Ilya hiccuped, placing a hand over his mouth to try and not throw up. "I don't need a reminder..."

"No, Rozanov, that's not what I meant..." Wyatt sighed. "Are you okay? Wanna go up and take a shower?"

"Mmh, I don't think I can really stand up right now."

"Come on, I'll help you up." Wyatt said, reaching out for him. Ilya barely reacted when Wyatt grabbed him, only letting out some low, irritated sound under his breath. His body felt dead weight, completely uncooperative, like it didn’t belong to him anymore. His head lolled forward, chin nearly hitting his chest, and when Wyatt finally managed to drag him halfway up, Ilya’s knees buckled almost instantly.

"Come on, Rozanov, man, just stand up for a second!" Wyatt strained, one arm hooked around Ilya’s back, the other trying to keep his balance as Ilya leaned practically his full weight onto him. Ilya’s legs gave out like they weren’t even there, and the both of them stumbled, Wyatt barely managing to keep himself upright as Ilya slipped straight through his grip and dropped heavily back onto the couch.

"Fuck..." Wyatt breathed out and ran his hand through his hair. "Rozanov, you're really fucking out of it.."

"Told you..." Ilya muttered, failing at keeping his head up straight. His chest rose and fell unevenly, breaths coming in slow, shallow pulls like even that took effort. His hand moved weakly over his stomach, fingers curling into his shirt like he was trying to hold something in place. "I think I'm gonna... I'm gonna be sick, maybe?"

Wyatt moved fast at that, grabbing the trash can and shoving it toward him just in time. Ilya somehow managed to lean his body forward over the couch before he started heaving, his whole body jerking with it, coughing and gagging as it flew out of him without any control.

"Easy there, it's okay... there you go bud, you're good." Wyatt stood by his side, keeping his palm pressed on Ilya's back for support. Ilya’s breathing turned ragged when it passed, his body slumping forward, forehead nearly hitting the edge of the bin. Wyatt's grip tightened on his shirt and he pulled him backwards, letting him lay back down against the couch.

"Yeah, no, this is not good or fun, Rozanov." Wyatt mumbled as he set the bin to the side. "We should go to the hospital, they need to pump your stomach or some shit..."

Ilya let out a weak, breathy laugh that didn’t sound like a laugh at all. “Fuck… no…” he mumbled, words slurring together, barely understandable. “No hospital… no fucking way…”

"Yeah, Ilya, you don't really have a say in this right now."

"No." It came out a little stronger this time, even though his body was not matching it. His eyes were closed now and his fingers barely managed to hold grip on his shirt.

"Ilya, I'm calling Troy and Cliff and we're taking you to the hospital."

"I'm not going!" Ilya managed to snarl, baring his teeth at Wyatt. "Can't you just leave me the fuck alone?!"

"Ilya..." Wyatt sighed. He took a seat next to him on the couch. "I'm your friend, yes? And I want to help. I really do. But I can't help you if you don't wanna help yourself..."

"I don't need help..." Ilya slurred, his words not even coming out right. "I just...need.."

"Just need what?"

But Ilya didn't respond after that. He passed out, after whole night of drinking, he finally managed to fall asleep. Well... not really fall asleep, but actually just pass out.

July 30th, 2026

"Rosie!" Shane smiled excitedly as he ran to hug his best friend. He loved Rose so much. She was honestly one of the best friends he could ever ask for.

"Babe, I missed you so much..." She said as she hugged him back. "God that cold really kept you out for a whole week huh?"

"Yeah." Shane smiled faintly. "It wasn't fun at all.."

"Glad we could meet up like this without boys hovering over our heads." Rose giggled and patted Shane's shoulder. "We have a lot to talk about, you know.."

Rose called him to meet up for a little coffee date. It was true, Rose and Shane never really hung out on their own, without Hayden or J.J being there to bother them and not let them breathe. They met by the local coffee shop one afternoon, and once they got in and got their drinks, they sat in the little booth in the far corner of the shop.

"Sooo... Liam is back from his trip right? Did you see him?"

"Of course." Shane smiled weakly. "I spent last three days with him, honestly...it feels good that I'm with someone else now, he wouldn't let me breathe." He chuckled.

Rose smiled in response. "So... how are things between you two going?"

Shane let out a small, almost rehearsed laugh. "Great!" He said, playing with the cup in his hands. "Really amazing you know, Liam is just... he's a sweetheart, really."

Rose watched him the entire time, her expression not changing much, just a faint smile on her lips, but her eyes did most of the work. They scanned Shane, every expression he made and every shift of his body. "Right. Great." She repeated after him.

Shane swallowed, the smile on his face starting to feel tight. "Yeah, it's awesome... he even got me this ring on his trip just now." Shane said, showing off his hand.

"That's so cute! Really..." Rose said, taking a sip of her drink. "It's just..."

Shane shifted in his seat, the fake smile now replaced with a pout. "Just what?"

"You look like shit, Shane."

Shane blinked, caught off guard. “Thanks?”

"No, I will rephrase that. You smell like shit." Rose said.

"Um, excuse me, do I not see a point in us meeting today, did you call me here to belittle me on purpose or?" Shane asked with a frown, the grip on his cup tightening.

"No, babe. Not at all." Rose started. "I called you because I thought you're gonna tell me on your own. But seeing how easily you were willing to lie to my face just now changed things..."

Shane forgot one thing. Rose was an alpha. A very strong alpha, with a very strong nose. If he felt safe around Liam or his parents because they were Betas and did not react to scent, Rose did.

"I'm not sure I understand what you mean, Rose."

"Right, of course." She frowned. "So all of this... that fake happiness and smile. It has nothing to do with the mysterious alpha you've been seeing?"

lt like the ground dropped out from under him. Shane’s head snapped toward her so fast it almost hurt, eyes wide, breath catching in his throat. "I... what?"

"You reek of him Shane." Rose said flatly, then leaned back against the booth. "So I'd appreciate if you stopped lying to my face."

Shane felt his mouth go dry, no matter how much saliva he swallowed, it would stay dry. "I... Rose, it's not what you think, I swear."

"Enlighten me then, Shane. What is it?"

"It's...just..." Shane bit down on his lip hard enough to hurt. "How the hell did you know?"

"I have a nose, Shane. And you reeked of that alpha ever since the fair. When you said you went to find the toilets, you actually went with him, right?"

Shane was so embarrassed. He didn't even realize how reckless he'd been and honestly started to wonder if anyone was as clueless as he thought. Or if he was just that stupid.

"Rose, I swear it's..." Shane sighed. "Fuck..."

Rose sat patiently and waited. It was almost scary how calm she seemed, how she just waited for him to spill it all out, as if she already knew the whole truth. Shane looked away at first. He couldn't look her in the eyes, he doesn't deserve that. He took a deep, painful breath and finally spoke.

"It's uh... Look, I know I messed up Rose but... it's not how you think it is."

"Shane." She warned. "Just tell me what you did already."

"It's uh... it's this guy, alpha...remember that one night when you all thought I got drunk at Jackie's party? Well um... actually, I got... drugged. Some alpha drugged me and he was there for me, he helped me out and since I passed out he took me to his house..."

"Jesus Christ, Shane!!!" Rose almost jumped out of her seat. "Don't tell me he..?"

"No!" He shook his head quickly. "Nothing like that, I swear. He took care of me, and... he ended up sleeping on the floor and I woke up and I was so awful to him but..." he felt himself tear up. "Rose his scent..."

"Shane..."

"No, don't... I don't think you understand it, Rose. I didn't want it, I swear... but I just couldn't stop myself it felt like... I don't know, it just felt like this whole time I was just waiting for him? Like his scent was right and I know, I was always the one to yap about not needing an alpha but... he is different."

"Shane, babe, you have a boyfriend, this... it's not right." Rose said, reaching over the table to hold his hand. "Whatever it is that guy has, it's not worth losing Liam over it I promise.."

"But see that's the thing..." Shane huffed out a small laugh through his tears. "It actually is worth it, Rose. He's worth it, he just... he understands me and he doesn't even know me right... and when he kisses me, everythig feels worth it."

Rose sighed a heavy breath and looked down at their hands. "How long has this been going on, Shane?"

"Close to a month now..." Shane said quietly.

"A month?!" Rose said, a little too loud. Shane's head snapped up at her, shushing her. "Jesus, Rose! I don't want the whole town to find out!"

"And this whole time you've been...?"

"Lying to you all. Yes." He finished her sentence for her. "I was never sick... my mom grounded me because...that night after the fair we went to Lunar falls and I ended up coming home in the morning and my mom completely freaked out."

Rose nodded slowly. She expected stuff... but she honestly didn't expect all of this. "Did you two...?"

Shane's lips tightened. He stayed silent for a moment before nodding slowly. "Yeah..."

"Oh my God, Shane, no..." Rose sighed, disappointment written all over her face. "Why did you do that?"

"What do you mean why, Rose? I wanted it and... I don't know, it felt right in that moment."

"But Shane, what about Liam? You've been waiting to sleep with him for so long and now..."

"Don't bring him up, please." Shane sniffed. "It hurts too much already to know I'm doing all this behind his back, I don't need a reminder Rose."

"So what are you going to do then?" She frowns. "You think you can just keep doing this behind his back? Because that's very asshole-y of you, Shane."

"Thanks, I know." Shane sighed. "I don't know Rose... I'm confused. I wanted to break up with Liam when he came back from his trip, but then he gave me this promise ring and he caught me completely off guard and I just didn't have the heart to break up with him then."

"So how long do you plan on doing this for? Until he finds out by himself, is that what you want Shane?"

"No! Of course not, Rose!" Shane said quickly. "Jesus Christ, you're not helping at all.."

"I'm not trying to." She said with a pout. "Look, Shane, babe, you are my best friend and I love you to death, right? But right now, I feel like I need to slap some sense into you, because this... is so fucked up. You need to stop that with that alpha guy, Shane, you're confused, you're scent drunk on him and you don't know what you're talking about... you're willing to lose Liam, a guy who truly loves you for the first alpha that you meet?"

"Rose. It's not like that at all... I am not confused about my feelings for him, I..." he exhales loudly, trying to gather strength for the next sentence. "I feel like he's actually the one, Rose. Like that soulmate mark shit our parents were talking about, I feel like that's him."

"Babe, listen to me." Rose said in a warning tone. "I know this may sound hypocritical of me, but that guy is an alpha. Nothing else than that. You said it yourself: all alphas are the same. I mean, I'm sorry for saying it, but you'll be fun to him until he finds some other Omega to empty his knot into. I know this is not what you want to hear, but it's true, especially the assholes here in Bridgeford..."

"Rose, stop." Shane whined through tears. "You don't even know him, why are you saying shit like that?"

"Because I know alphas, Shane! I am sorry if I'm crushing your dreams but I don't want you to find out the ugly way that I was right!" Rose rubbed gentle circles on the top of his hand. At this point, Shane was crying so much that his shoulders were trembling. He kept his head low, away from the eyes surrounding them in the coffee shop. "Look, baby... break things off with that guy. You don't even have to tell me who he is, okay? Break things off with him and continue being with Liam, okay? That boy loves you so much, he doesn't deserve this, Shane. This is the nicest way I could possibly say this but: you're such an asshole for doing this to him..."

Shane shut his eyes tightly, and it only forced more tears down his face. Everything Rose was saying was right, that was the worst part of it all. Shane already knew of the lines he crossed. Liam didn't deserve all of this and that was the truth that hurt the most. And the things she said about alphas, about Bridgeford, about how they use and leave and move on like it’s nothing, those were also truth. Hell, he would even say those exact words himself if he wasn't in this situation. He knew all of that. He believed it.

But still, none of those descriptions fit Ilya. Because Rose didn’t know him, didn’t know the way his voice softened only for Shane, or the way his arms felt around Shane's smaller body. The way his hug felt like a shelter. She didn’t know how Shane’s entire body gave in the second Ilya pulled him close, and how every stupid, stubborn thought just went quiet when he heard those low, affectionate nicknames they picked up over this time together, like 'little one' or 'baby' and 'pup'. She didn't know how much Shane needed Ilya's kisses, like oxygen. She didn't know that the only thing keeping Shane sane at this moment were the thoughts that he will see Ilya soon. Maybe tonight. Maybe tomorrow. But soon. That he’d be back in his arms, kissing him, feeling him everywhere.

Rose didn't understand. She never would.

"Okay..." he nodded. "Okay, fine, yeah... I'll break it off."

He lied. He lied so openly again, because there was no point in fighting it anymore, not with someone who will never understand the imaginary thread between him and Ilya.

~

August 1st, 2026

"Harder, alpha! Please!" Shane cried out, hands gripping the grass under him. This was the second time that night he was bent over, face pressed into the damp ground under him, and his ass high up in the air with alpha pounding into him from the back. "Yes, yes, yes, right there Ilya!"

"Jesus, you're fucking mouthy tonight, little one." Ilya groaned, his hips jerking into Shans's with brutal force. His hands laid flat on Shane's ass, nails digging into the soft flesh. "You're fucking needy tonight, you missed me that much Omega?"

"Yes, alpha!" Shane moaned, shutting his eyes tightly, letting his whole upper body go slack. "Missed your cock so much, missed my alpha so much... nngh, want your knot again, please!"

"Your alpha?" Ilya chuckled darkly, pride spreading through his chest like wildfire.

"Mmh, mine! My alpha! Fuck..."

One of Shane's hands moved down his body, to his achingly hard cock. He started to jerk himself fast, matching the pace of Ilya's thrusts. He was so close to cumming again, third time that night. He came once from Ilya's mouth, then when he fucked him first time, and now this.

"Say it again, baby, say I'm your alpha.." Ilya grunted in fucked out voice. His knot was beginning to form again, only a small bubble at the base of his cock for now.

"My alpha!" Shane cried. "Mine, mine, mine, mine.." he whined cutely.

"Fuck, baby...come here," Ilya slid out of Shane quickly, but only enough to roll him around and lay him down on the grass. He pressed Shane's knees up to his chest and slid back in, fucking him in deep, hard thrusts.

"Oh yes...oh fuck!" Shane lolled his head back, his eyes rolling to the back of his head. "Fuck me, alpha, fuck me hard please! Give me your knot, please.."

"Shane," Ilya gasped, pushing his knot inside him but continuing to thrust in shallow moves. "Fuck, little one is this what you wanted? To be fucked stupid and full of my cum again?"

"Yes, yes! Thank you!" Shane cried out, grabbing Ilya's shoulders tightly. He was completely fucked out, brainless and moaning mess. Ilya thrusted some more before he started cumming, filling Shane so full of cum that it began to overflow at this point. For the second time tonight.

"Oh baby..." Ilya laid flat on top of Shane, nuzzling his face into Shane's neck. They were locked, sweaty, wet and honestly Ilya was exhausted. Shane completely drained his balls for the night. "You killed me, Shane."

Shane whined cutely, pushing his neck and chest up to Ilya. "Again, alpha. Please."

"Shane." Ilya growled against his neck, still trying to catch his breath. "You drained me, I can't.

"Please alpha, I need..."

"Shane!" Ilya growled again, a little firmer this time. "Calm down, Omega."

As on command, Shane stilled under him. He let out a whine here and there but he just ended up cuddling the alpha closer to his chest and his neck.

"You did so well, little one, but I need to breathe, okay?" Ilya chuckled against his skin, pressing a few soft kisses on his neck. His hands traveled up his thighs and over his waist, resting at his sides.

"I'm sorry..." Shane whimpered. "I missed you. I'm sorry."

"Hey..." Ilya looked up at him. "Don't apologize.."

Shane looked up at him with doey eyes. "Are you mad at me, alpha?" He said quietly, his eyes seeming like they were already filling with tears. Ilya shushed the omega gently and shifted his body up, his knot pushing deeper inside Shane which made him moan absentmindedly. He leaned in and pressed one soft kiss on the tip of Shane's nose, then one on his cheek, then another one to the corner of his mouth. "Shane, of course I'm not mad at you. I missed you too, trust me... I just didn't expect you to be this insatiable, that's all."

Shane's lips turned into a pout. "Well I'm like this because of you, you know?"

Ilya smiled widely. "Oh so this is my fault again, too?"

"Yes." Shane huffed. "It's all your fault. Because you just walk up to me all hot, and handsome and smelling like that and you expect me not to behave like a rabid animal."

Ilya pressed their foreheads together then leaned down to kiss Shane softly. "I love that you're like that for me..." he spoke in kiss. Shane closed his eyes and kissed him back with as much passion, his hands coming up to cup Ilya's cheeks.

Ilya felt something weird about Shane's hands. Something metalic that's not usually there. As he pulled away, he looked to the side at Shane's hand, noticing the ring. "Oh? What's that, baby, I didn't see you wear that before?"

"Oh..." Shane bit his lip, his eyes widening in the moment. Stupid Shane. Fucking stupid, stupid, stupid. He totally forgot to take the ring off before meeting Ilya.

"That, uh... it's nothing, it's just some old ring I found around the house. I forgot to take it off, don't wanna lose it out here."

"Ah..." Ilya smiled. "It's nice baby." His thumb brushed over Shane’s knuckles once more before he leaned in again, pressing their lips together. Shane melted into the kiss again, the tension he felt just a minute earlier as he had to lie to Ilya completely disolving. Ilya's hand slid along Shane's neck and up to his jaw, tilting his head to the side just as he wanted, sliding his tongue inside Shane's mouth. They kissed for minutes, but every passing minute felt like eternity as they kissed.

Ilya was the first one to pull away again. He looked down at Shane as he spoke again, voice a little more serious this time. "Hey we didn't really have a chance to talk as we got here but...did you have that talk with your boyfriend? Did you two break up already?"

Shane froze on the spot. Well, he kind of expected a question like this, but he didn't really expect for Ilya to jump him with that question after a mind-blowing kiss like this. He gulped and looked down, looking at Ilya's cross dangling between his pecs. "I uh...I didn't have time."

Ilya didn't respond immediately. His gaze stayed on Shane's face, scanning every expression as if testing him. "But it's been days Shane."

"I know uh.." Shane spoke weakly and nervously. "I didn't really see him. I mean.. I did once but we were with our friends, and..." He let out a weak, fake laugh. "I couldn't really break up with him in front of everybody."

Something inside Ilya tightened the moment he saw Shane laugh about this matter.

"Can't you just text him, or call him and finish it?" Ilya said firmly.

"I'm not gonna do that, Ilya," Shane shot back immediately, shaking his head. "That's childish, I don't wanna break up with him like that."

That was when whatever strength Ilya was carrying finally gave in. His face dropped fully. "No, Shane it's okay. If you don't wanna break up with him, just say it..."

Shane’s chest tightened painfully. “What? No,baby, what are you talking about? Of course I do.” He said quickly, cupping Ilya's cheeks. But Ilya raised his hand up and tugged his hands away from him.

"Really Shane? Because all I hear is excuse after excuse.." Ilya's jaw tightened despite him, eyes narrowing as he looked down at Shane. The God-damn knot was still locking them in which made the whole thing even more awkward.

"Ilya, I promise it's not an excuse just...This is not eady for me, okay?"

“And you think it’s easy for me?” Ilya shot back instantly, his tone much more raw this time, his composure cracking completely. "You think this is all perfect and enjoyable on my end?"

Shane didn’t think. He just reacted.

“Well, you’re an alpha!” he snapped. “Everything in life is easier for you.”

Shane's mouth were left open as he said that, because even he realized at the moment those words left his mouth, how stupid that was to say. And Ilya's reaction only confirmed it. Ilya went completely still, not even looking angry anymore... but more like heartbroken. And Shane regretted his words right away.

"Is that what you think life is like for me?" Ilya asked quietly. "Is that all I am to you? An alpha?"

Shane's stomach dropped and he tried to hold Ilya's face again, but Ilya moved away quickly. "Ilya, I didn't mean it like that..." he rushed out, panic flooding him.

"No, Shane." Ilya sighed. "It's fine. Really."

"I'm sorry baby, I really-"

"Let's just wait until the knot goes down and I'll drive you back home." Ilya said flatly.

"What? No, no, no, no, listen to me," Shane cupped his face despite Ilya's pulling, his voice coming out quick and cracking around the edges as emotions start to take over him. "I want to stay with you tonight, I don't want to go anywhere. It's only you I want Ilya, please."

"Shane, no." Ilya warned. "I am not going to sit with you tonight knowing it's yet another night you will go back to him. I did it for a month, but I don't want to do it anymore."

"Please, don't say that... I'll break up with him, I promise..."

"When?!" Ilya's voice came out harsher than he wanted, a feral snarl toring through his chest, making the smaller Omega under him flinch. "When do you plan on doing it Shane?! Because if it's only me you wanted you would've done it a month ago!"

Shane's whole face went still, his lips trembling at the harsh tone of Ilya's voice. "Alpha..." he said, voice barely above whisper.

Ilya blinked, looking down at Shane's frightened face now. He realized he sounded too rough, too harsh probably, immediately feeling bad about it. "Fuck..." Ilya muttered under his breath, shaking his head. "The knot is going down soon. Let's just get dressed and I'll drop you off home after that..."

"Ilya, I'm really sorry, things have just been very difficult for me lately..."

And you think my life has been easy? You think you're the only one struggling here, little one? Do you have any idea what my life looks like right now? Do you know where I sleep? Do you know what it feels like to not have a place that’s yours anymore? To have your own father throw you out like you’re nothing? You get to go home, lay in your own bed, eat homecooked food, smile with your family and I don't! You have people who care about you, who are waiting for you. I have a fucking couch in someone else’s garage and a bottle to get me through the night! Do you know how that feels, little one? Don't stand there and tell me how much you want me but things are difficult... because if you truly wanted me you'd choose me. And you still haven't.

Ilya wanted to say all that to Shane. He wanted to open up his heart and soul, he wanted to scream, to cry, for once to not care who will see him or what they will think, he just wanted Shane to understand, to finally realize that he is Ilya's only lifeboat on this rocky sea.

But of course he didn't say any of that.

"I know, Shane."

Chapter 7: Sorry

Hello, my beautiful freaks! I'm guessing this is not what you expected to see when you clicked on this fic :(

After thinking for a bit, I think I will be deleting this fic off my AO3. This decision did not come easily for me and trust me, I do it with heavy heart. This fic is my first a/b/o baby but for the sake of not spoiling what I had planned for the plot, I don't think I want to continue writing this fic and possibly make some people uncomfortable. That is never my goal.

This fic is truly my baby, I worked very, very hard on it but I didn't think ahead before already writing 40k words that some of the actions in this fic might make some people uncomfortable and that is my mistake.

I am aware that so many of you liked this work and for that I am really really grateful. Trust me, I read every comment that you left and it always made me smile so wide. I hope to see you all again in some next fic, maybe another a/b/o fic I decide to write.

I will leave this fic up for a few days, just in case any of you maybe want to download it?? Maybe, idk.

But that's it. Thank you all so much for all the love, I love every single one of you 🤍

See you in the next one!
