The house is quiet. One, warm lamp illuminates their bedroom.
“I told you,” Ilya says as he scrolls his way through Twitter. “He wants to fuck you. Is all it is,” Of course, Comeau added the pilates post to his likes where everyone could see. So did everyone else. If Ilya’s tweets didn’t have to be pre-approved by PR, he’s sure he could’ve given Comeau a run for bad press.
“Shut up. No, he doesn’t,” Shane laughs sleepily. They’re lying in bed together, and he’s got his head on Ilya’s chest, slow blinking in that way that tells Ilya he had way too much to drink earlier. His cheeks are pink and pretty, and there’s still the barest smudge of red lipstick at the corner of his mouth—Ilya wants to kiss him.
“You’re terrible at knowing when people want to fuck you,” he says, stroking Shane’s cheek with his thumb, “must be spelled out for you, dorogoy.”
Shane rolls his eyes. “Everyone on the Metros who hates me does not want to fuck me, Ilya.”
“Is the ones who don’t hate you too.”
“That includes Hayden and JJ.”
“Yes,” Ilya nods, “is what I said.”
Shane lets out a surprised laugh and sits up. “Oh my god, you’re such an asshole!” He takes Ilya’s phone from his hand and locks it before setting it on the nightstand. “I don’t care about anyone who wants to fuck or not fuck me but you,” he says softly.
“Ah,” Ilya chuckles. “What praise my husband has for me. He cares if I want to fuck him.” He pulls Shane in close, pressing his lips against Shane’s neck.
“Yeah,” Shane sighs, “I care so much I’ll even put the shorts on for you,”
Ilya goes quiet, his brain screeching to a halt.
“The little green ones from your class?”
Shane nods. Ilya can feel the hitch of his breath against his ear.
“I am luckiest man in the world,” he says.
This time, he can hear the smile in Shane’s voice.
“Can’t be because that’s me.”
