Scott + Ilya vs. The Homophobes
Summary
Scott and Ilya put up a united front against all the homophobic assholes in the league. Well, maybe not that united. But at least they're changing the narrative a bit, one homophobe at a time.
Notes
This fic is inspired by a comment (deekilpatrick credits to you) I got on another fic in this series.
So consider this some sort of sequel. It's inspired by the premise I set up in chapter 2 of the bisexual fairy godmother of the NHL
Feel free to read that whole fic, or just check out that one chapter, that should give you enough backstory to get into this fic.
It can also be read as a standalone!
I was planning on making this a bonus chapter at first, but I got so many ideas, that I decided to give this it's own spot in my texting fic series :)
I hope you enjoy, I don't know how many chapters it's going to be yet, so make sure to subscribe and I promise to not leave the chapters on a cliffhanger!

Chapter Notes
Biggest Asshole In The League
You play Detroit in a few weeks right?
We had a game against them today
I heard one of the players use a slur
I think his name was Russell?
It was not against me, but still
Wanted to let you know
Rozanov hadn’t responded. Had he read their last conversation all wrong? He didn’t think so. The Russian had been surprisingly okay with his sexuality and had even insinuated he himself would sometimes fuck men. Now Scott was wondering if that was all some elaborate prank that would come back to bite him in the ass next time they played Boston. It freaked him out. He hoped he didn't set himself up for the biggest slur fest the world had ever seen.
He sighed as he sank deeper into the couch, arm still slung around his boyfriend. His boyfriend. He didn’t know if he would ever get used to that. He still thanks god every day that Kip had decided to take him back. He couldn’t offer him everything just yet, but at least he was now sure that he didn’t want to wait until retirement.
“Are you okay, baby?” Kip snuggled against him.
He sighed again and pressed a kiss on his hair. “I’m fine, let’s just watch the game.”
He didn’t particularly feel up to telling his boyfriend that the one ally that he thought they had, might not be much of an ally at all. Also, Kip did not deserve Scott freaking out on him again. He tried to focus on the game, now in full blast on the TV. The Boston Raiders vs. Detroit. Normally he didn’t really watch that many games from other teams. Sometimes he went online to find the highlights, especially if it was a team they would play soon. But Kip was hellbent on understanding hockey better, so the last couple of weeks their date nights had been filled with the noise of hockey commentary. Not that it was that bad, but sometimes he would like to leave work at work and spend time with his amazing boyfriend instead. Lost in his thoughts he wrapped his arm a little tighter around Kip.
“Jesus, what the fuck?!” Kip exclaimed.
Scott whipped his head up at the sudden remark. Just in time to see the replay on the screen in front of him. He hadn’t been paying that much attention, but he was now. On the TV he could see Rozanov checking Russell hard into the boards. The hit wasn’t completely dirty, but there was obviously more intention behind it than just getting him away from the puck. The camera showed a different angle and this time it was a lot closer. He could see Rozanovs mouth moving and then Russel got hit with the classic wink-smirk combination. Scott hated to be on the receiving end of that one, but seeing it done to Russell was extremely satisfying. And the chirp must have hit its mark, because he could see Russell’s face turning white even under the helmet.
“I know I didn’t want to believe you all the times you said Rozanov was an asshole, but I have to say I agree now. He is a fucking menace. I mean, I’m not a hockey expert, but I’m pretty sure there was no reason for him to check the guy that hard!” Kip sounded frustrated.
Scott couldn’t help but smile at Kip’s comment. Whenever he complained about the Russian, he could never really get Kip to agree with him. ‘It’s probably just an act, not every hockey player is the same on the ice as in his own home’, Kip had once said, raising his eyebrows suggestively at Scott. Yes, he wasn’t gay on the ice, but that didn’t mean Rozanov wasn’t an asshole in his own home as well. ‘He seems nice in interviews’, Kip had said the next time Scott came home frustrated after losing to Boston. His response had not been as gracious as he would have liked when he hit back with ‘Nice, my ass, he’s a little fucker that one’. The speech he had gotten from Kip after that nasty response was still seared into his brain. So yeah, he was a little smug that his boyfriend now finally agreed with him. He wondered if he really had to correct him on this, or if he could just leave it. He sighed. Kip would kill him if he didn’t tell the truth.
“Remember when I came home from that game last week?”
Kip frowned up at him. “Yeah, you were kind of sluggish after that one player kept throwing around slurs the entire game.”
“Exactly.” Scott smiled. It was nice to know his boyfriend paid attention. It was nice to have someone that paid attention.
But Kip still looked extremely confused. “Okay? What does that have to do with this?”
Scott raised his eyebrows and gave Kip a second to figure it out for himself. He could see the gears turning as Kip now sat up straight and looked at him, face in utter shock.
“No!” He gasped.
Scott snickered. “Yes.”
Kip suddenly stood up and started pacing around the room. Then he turned his face to Scott again, squinting his eyes. “Wait…” He pointed a finger at him. “You knew he would do this? How did he even know!”
“I don’t know.” Scott shrugged, trying to look as casual as possible. But apparently Kip is more perceptive than he gave him credit for, because in the next two seconds he was pinned down to the couch, lying flat on his back, a grinning Kip above him holding his wrists in place. He tried to ignore the sparkles now glistening in his boyfriend’s eyes.
“You told him, didn’t you?”
Scott tried to struggle from beneath him, but for some reason he had chosen a man who considered going to the gym a hobby. There was nothing he could do.
“No?’ He tried instead. It was no help.
Kip dug his fingers into his side and started tickling him. “You.” His fingers dug deeper. “Are.” Kip moved on to his armpits now. “Lying!” Finally, he stopped and settled back with a loud sigh.
Scott laughed and put his free hands on Kip’s thighs that were still straddling his legs. “I should lie more often if it gets you in this position.” He said, twinkle in his eyes.
Kip gasped dramatically. “Don’t lie to me! Tell me everything or you won't have me in this position EVER again!” He grabbed onto Scott’s face while saying it as he intently stared into his eyes. Scott could see he was trying to be serious, but he also saw the curiosity behind it. And who was he to deny his gossip-obsessed boyfriend of that?
“I have to send out a text first and then I will tell you everything you want to know.”
Kip pointed a finger right in his face. “You better not leave anything out, Hunter.” It was kind of scary how much Kip sounded like a hockey player when he said his last name like that. Scott shivered, pushing the thought far out of his head. If there is one thing he didn’t need it’s the thought of Kip being pushed around by assholes on the ice.
He grabbed the back of his neck and pulled his boyfriend down for a slow, languid kiss and sighed when he broke it off to grab his phone. The asshole better answer him this time. And fast, because he wanted to at least finish this date night with something more romantic than watching Boston play hockey.
Biggest Asshole In The League
What the hell man?
You like?
You don’t reply to my texts and then you pull a stunt like this?
Hmm is something they say
Actions make more noise than words, yes?
Actions speak louder than words you mean
Still, what the fuck
I thought you had done a 360 or something, I was freaking out, asshole
Hunter
I don’t know what 360 is
But I told you I fuck men
Why would you freak out
Jesus, Kip was right
You are a fucking menace
Is Kip your mystery man?
Sounds like he has correct opinions
Give me his number
No?
Why would I do that
So I can talk to your better half
Fuck off
Next time I text you, reply please
Aw Hunter
So desperate for a text from the most beautiful and best hockey player
If I wanted to text the best hockey player, I would text Hollander
No
You take that back
Don’t think so
Okay
Then no more beating up homophobes for you
Sure
You live for this shit man, not sure something like this could keep you from a fight
You underestimate me, Hunter
Apparently
Chapter End Notes
I don't know anything about hockey and their schedules so if you would be so kindly as to ignore that, that would be great 😂
I dont know if it's realistic that Boston and New York play against the same team this close to each other, and honestly I don't care, for the sake of the story I will continue my random dabbling in this :)First time I've written Scott and Kip and it was easier than I thought it would be. I feel like I did them justice, but definitely correct me if I'm wrong.
If you have any ideas for the next chapters, make sure to drop them in the comments!!
