pillow talk

Summary

“That was a good one,” Ilya said, stretching his arms above his head. “Fuck, you fucked a cramp into my back.”

“I fucked a cramp into your back?”

“Yes,” Ilya said, raising an eyebrow. “What, you are trying to say you are a pillow princess?”

Shane scoffed. “You’ll never hear me take any of those words in my mouth.”

Shane, Ilya and a series of conversations in bed.

Notes

Here is a little sequel to the smash or pass fic for flufftober! I love these little guys! Written for day 10 - "Are you sure?" so it's technically a day early but I'm super busy tomorrow so here it is.

The ending of this I had actually written for the original fic to sort of start and end with a social media thing, but then I liked the other ending so much that this just felt superfluous. I was going to add it as a chapter of its own at some point, but then I decided to incorporate it into this instead!

pillow talk

Ilya looked beautiful when he was coming. He always looked beautiful—professionally so—but never as raw and sweet as this. His cheeks were flushed, swollen lips pink and glossy from kissing, his eyes dark and so gone he looked like he was in another dimension. Pleasure always looked good on him, or maybe it was that Shane liked making him feel good. Wrapping his legs tighter around Ilya’s hips, Shane clung to him as Ilya buried himself inside, groaning so deeply Shane could feel the rumble in his chest.

“Uh, Shane, fuck.” Ilya hid his face into Shane’s shoulder, his breath heavy as Shane ran a lazy hand through his curls.

Shane melted into the mattress when Ilya rolled off, trying to ignore the cum trickling out. He could never quite decide if he loved or hated that. It seemed to depend on the day, if anything, and today, he felt a bit weird, wiggling slightly at the feeling as Ilya slapped Shane’s stomach and groaned.

“Mmm.” Ilya hummed as he cupped Shane’s cheek and smirked at him. “Such a perfect pillow princess. Just laying there being hot and tight for me.”

“Oh, fuck off.” Shane laughed and clambered out of bed, heading towards the bathroom. When he stepped inside, he raised his voice to make sure Ilya still heard him. “Last time I was in New York I rode you so hard you had to apologize to your neighbors.”

“I didn't know you had left the window open, zaychik.”

Shane, honestly, still felt a bit mortified about that. If Ilya didn’t live in such a discreet building, he was fairly sure someone would’ve sold a story to some gossip site about how fucking loud Shane was when he was being fucked by his hot boyfriend’s fat dick. Maybe they’d even be justified in doing so, considering the show he’d inadvertently given them.

Ilya opened his arm to welcome Shane back into bed, pulling him in close under the covers. Tomorrow, Shane headed out for a West Coast roadtrip and Ilya was preparing for a fashion week in Lisbon that he’d be going to in a week. Their summer together had been beyond anything Shane had ever imagined, just the two of them for a couple of blissful weeks. Going back to reality, though, was harder than he’d thought.

“When’s your flight tomorrow?” Shane asked and Ilya’s arm tightened in response.

“At 5 so we have all morning,” Ilya said. “What is your favorite city to play in?”

The abrupt subject change stumped him and he rubbed a slow circle over Ilya’s stomach in silence before his brain caught up.

“I mean, Montreal. It’s not just that it’s home ice, but the whole culture surrounding the team. People are kinda crazy.” Shane laughed quietly. “And I guess Boston, for the same reason. The rivalry makes it more intense.”

“I thought you would say LA for the nigthlife.”

“No, you didn’t,” Shane said, pinching him until Ilya yelped, swatting his hand away.

Ilya pouted. “My boyfriend is so mean to me.”

“Absolutely terrible.”

“I should send my fans on you. They are very scary.”

Shane scoffed. “I’m a hockey player who gets knocked around several times a week.”

“But you have never been the target of people who live online and love me slightly more than their own families.”

“Should I be concerned about this?”

“Probably not.”

“Comforting.”

“It is possible that some of them could be a problem,” Ilya said, voice now serious. “You should always tell me if someone gets weird, okay?”

“I will,” Shane said and Ilya looked at him, unconvinced. “I mean, if it gets so weird if I think I can’t handle it.”

“No, always tell me anyway. Sometimes things seem innocent for a bit, but they can get bad quickly.”

“Okay. Well, same for you, as well. If anyone gets weird.”

“Hockey fans are always weird.”

“Can you ever stay serious for more than 3 minutes at a time?”

“Would you ever do a joint photoshoot?” Ilya asked instead of answering.

Shane considered it for a moment. “I think I would. Mom would say it’s probably a great brand move.”

“We would look very hot. Maybe Yuna should pitch it.”

“Oh, God. I’m worried about where this would go.”

“Imagine how many little baby gays and bis would have us up on their wall. Would be our life’s work.”

Shane laughed, tucking his face into Ilya’s broad chest. “You’re so ridiculous.”

“The world might actually implode, Shane. From the sheer force of our combined hotness.”

“Sure, baby.” Shane patted his stomach. “You’re a genius.”

Ilya turned towards him, wrapping him up in his strong arms. “Ah, you know me so well.”

Rolling his eyes, Shane kissed him softly.

The guest bed in his parents’ house was so narrow that two large men fit together only as far as they were able to tetris their limbs into available nooks and crannies. It should be uncomfortable, maybe, but Shane always liked Ilya close and there was something about having Ilya’s knee jammed into his thigh and his arm squeezed up against Ilya’s chest. With the window above the bed half covered in snow, it felt impossibly cozy.

“You were afraid of Santa, I know it.”

Shane frowned. “What? Who told you that?”

“Did not need anyone to tell me, I can sense it. Little Shanya scared of the big man with a beard.”

“Well,” Shane said, sniffing. “It’s fucking natural to be skeptical of a strange man trying to give you things. Stranger danger is like the first thing they tell you, and then suddenly they’re like: Here’s a nice man giving you gifts, no ulterior motives!”

The whole bed shook with Ilya’s laughter, jostling their bodies together under the covers.

“Oh my god, Shane, I love you so much,” he said, his voice breathy with laughter.

It still made Shane’s chest all fizzy and airy hearing it. The sheen hadn’t worn off the words in the couple of months they’d been saying them out loud. They made him feel exactly as warm and gooey as that day when Ilya had barged in the door after a month apart, dropped his bag on the floor and said I love you like the words had been waiting to pop like a shaken Champagne bottle.

“I’m just being sensible.”

“So sensible,” Ilya agreed, splaying a heavy hand over Shane’s stomach.

“We should teach children to be afraid of Santa, actually. And we definitely shouldn’t be placing them on random men’s laps in malls.”

“Ah, yes, you will teach our children this and I will sneak out back and dress up. I would love to be all HO HO HO.”

Shane felt breathless for a moment, and not because of Ilya’s truly terrifying depiction of Santa. Whenever Ilya talked about their future, it always took him by surprise, like part of him still couldn’t believe it. Children, though, holy shit.

“You’re a menace,” he said, voice a bit shaky.

“And maybe you will also teach them to scam Tooth Fairy. Important to learn finance early.”

“No, you can’t scam the Tooth Fairy.” Shane patted Ilya’s forearm. “She’ll know and you’ll only get half next time.”

Ilya’s laugh sent a gust of his breath across the back of Shane’s neck. “I think that’s a Yuna invention, zaychik.”

“You should tell the Tooth Fairy that you think she’s stupid enough to be scammed by children.”

“Will do that next time someone knocks out your tooth and she comes for it.”

“You dick,” Shane said, laughing.

Ilya’s arm started falling asleep and they moved as best they could to give it some rest, settling down again in an easy silence. The whole house was quiet around them after a long afternoon and evening of eating and drinking and the Christmas songs Shane could barely tolerate playing in the background.

“This is the best Christmas I have had in a long time,” Ilya admitted quietly, his fingers playing idly with strands of Shane’s hair.

“I’m glad,” Shane whispered, heart squeezing. “They like you a lot, you know.”

“I like them too.”

“When my mom found out you were a model she printed out one of your photos, framed it and gave it to me.”

“What?” Ilya exclaimed in delight. “And why have I not seen it?”

“I threw it out.”

“You did not, Shane. Do you hate me?”

Shane draped his forearm across his face to hide his stupid smile. “It’s in the back of my walk in closet.”

“What, you have to stare at me when getting dressed?” Ilya asked, pulling Shane’s arm out the way and placing obnoxious kisses against his cheek.

“Inspiration in the morning,” Shane said and laughed as Ilya rolled them over, surrendering into the kisses.

Sometimes time went by so quickly when they stretched under the covers that Shane wanted to hold onto it even when it slipped through his fingers. Today, though, time was passing like treacle. Ilya’s hand was tracing slow circles on his thigh, his touch so warm and anchoring. Shane only had a day in New York. This was the only night and Shane wanted it to last forever. It wouldn’t, of course, but it was trying its best. Shane appreciated that.

“I am so sick of the drama,” Ilya said, apropos of nothing.

“Hmm?”

“The modelling circle, it is small. Even in New York it's a lot of the same people, always the same drama.”

“Sounds exhausting.”

“Yes.” Ilya paused. “I still like the work. I love walking in fashion shows the most, maybe. But all these people, I am tired of them.”

“I get tired of my team sometimes too,” Shane offered. “Even if people get traded and new people come in, it’s intense, you know. So much time spent together. So many dumb fights about who talks in their sleep and who flirts too much with someone’s sister.”

“Why are you not telling me more of this drama? You have been holding out on me.” One of Ilya’s hands came up to grip playfully at Shane’s chest. “Who is flirting with sister?”

“Ugh, don’t make me relive this. I can’t do it.”

“No, you don’t understand, this is boyfriend duty. To tell me these things.”

“You don’t tell me things!”

“Because you do not want to know that Stefan snorted coke from Blair’s tits and made Eva mad.”

“Who says I don’t? Sounds more fun than people arguing about snoring on the team bus.”

“I’m sorry, sweetheart. That is my terrible mistake. I will keep you up to date.”

“You better.” Shane leaned in and kissed him. “Also, Drapeau keeps hitting on Walker’s sister and it’s so fucking weird.”

“Isn’t Drapeau married?” Ilya asked, eyebrows scrunched in confusion. “By some miracle.”

“Yes, which is why it’s weird as hell.” Shane made a face. “If it helps, his wife is also kind of terrible, according to Jackie.”

“Ah, wonderful, they deserve each other.”

“Oh, for sure.” Shane suddenly remembered a whole saga from last week. “There was this stupid argument because J.J. hates playing Uno at the airport. Gil got all mad like it was—”

“I want to leave New York.”

“What?” Shane said, dazed.

“I can be model from many places. New York is a good place, yes, but you have to travel a lot anyway. There are many places you can have as base and travel for important things.”

Ilya’s nervous rambling had Shane hold onto his biceps tightly, squeezing in an effort to ground him. Falling quiet, Ilya looked at him, his eyes searching Shane’s.

“I was thinking I would work from Montreal.”

Shane’s stomach swooped like he was on a rollercoaster. What was Ilya saying? He scanned Ilya’s face, taking in the tightness around his mouth and the way he couldn’t quite meet Shane’s eyes. A helpless smile spread across Shane’s face.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Ilya answered immediately, smiling shyly. “Yes, I am sure.”

Shane rushed forwards, tackled Ilya onto his back and straddled him with zero grace. Draping himself over Ilya’s chest until strong arms wrapped around him, he pressed a kiss over Ilya’s heart before finding his gaze again.

“Move in with me,” Shane said, only then fully realizing how desperately he wanted it.

Ilya lit up, his smile blinding. He brought one hand up to Shane’s cheek, stroking the back of his fingers against it.

“Are you sure, zaychik?”

“Yes, baby, I’m sure.”

[A reel was posted to Ilya Rozanov's instagram. The text "Life with ✨my Shane✨" was splayed across the middle of it and an instrumental from La La Land played in the background. It showed Ilya sitting alone on a large blue couch, slouching down as he stared at a blank TV screen. It cut to Shane walking into frame with a bowl of popcorn, nestling in next to him to turn on a hockey game. In the next frame, the door to the fridge opened to show some beer, some yoghurt, packets of chicken and a few vegetables. Next, the fridge filled up with cans of ginger ale and neatly stacked boxes of meal prep. Then, a video of a collection of socks on the floor changed to a clip of Shane looking down at the pile of socks, hands on his hips and a comically large frown on his face.

Lastly, a clip of Ilya driving alone in his car. By the angle of it, the phone was attached to the dashboard and showed parts of an empty passenger seat next to him. It changed to a video of the two of them driving together, Shane handing Ilya a snack and brushing the hair out of his face. Ilya could be seen singing along happily to some song no one could hear, making a silly face, and Shane laughed, his head thrown back.]
