Hi everyone! It’s been awhile. Sorry this chapter is late. I was traveling over the weekend and my plane almost crashed, it lost an engine mid-air but thankfully we landed safely and everyone is ok. But I was writing this chapter with the plane wifi so I lost half of my edits and had to rewrite it. Hope you enjoy!

Hi everyone! Thank you for reading this fanfiction. I apologize as English is not my first language and I would like to practice it through writing more.

This is based on the gif by bruddha731 on tumblr, about how it looks like Rozanov is saying ‘I did it, Mama’ in Russian in that clip of him holding the cup.

Ilya Rozanov is my favorite hockey player, I have a poster of him on my bedroom wall! I thought this was an interesting thing to explore the way he dealt with being knocked out of the Sochi Olympics in his home country, and what he has said before about his family.

Summary:

During their rookie season, Hollander and Rozanov get blackout drunk after the awards show they present at together. When they wake up, they’re hungover, in a strange hotel room, with a marriage certificate bearing both of their names.

Rozanov vows to have it annulled as soon as possible. Hollander agrees. But things don’t quite work out as planned…

This is how I cope while waiting for Boston to play Montreal again. I found this old clip of Hollander and Rozanov presenting the sportsmanship award all the way back in 2011. The way Rozanov tugs him a little closer, the way Hollander gets flustered… this is what my brain immediately went to. Maybe I need help.

I’ve thinking about them again lately, Hollander and Rozonav… it’s gotten me thinking about what if they were secretly in a relationship this whole time. Although I’m a Rozanov fan first and foremost, I’m so excited that Montreal won the cup this season! In fact, I was so excited when I watched the final game that I knocked over my drink onto my computer and crashed it in the middle of writing this chapter. I had to rewrite it but now it’s done!

Summary:

”Watch out, Rozanov,” Shane taunts, “Now I have 2 cups under my belt. You’re falling behind.”
Rozanov’s eyes darken in response. Shane knows that he’ll pay for that comment later. A delicious shiver runs up his spine.

Another cup for Montreal! So sad for Boston, but Hollander deserves it.

This chapter was almost late because I had to get my grades up for my maths class to stay on my school hockey team. Normally I’m much better about my grades but between watching games, writing this story, and working out, I must’ve let them slip. My latest report card made the cut, though!

Summary:

“Don’t scare me like that…” Ilya murmurs, brushing his thumb across Shane’s cheek. “I could feel it when you went down on the ice.” He rubs at his chest, where their soulmate bond had flared when Shane took the hit from Marleau. “I couldn’t bear to lose you,” Ilya continues. “Not when I still haven’t told you how I really feel.”

Shane doesn’t say anything, but his eyelids flutter. The heart monitor beeps steadily onward.

Sorry this is late, I got a concussion a month ago from a game and haven’t been able to look at screens. But it did inspire this chapter where Rozanov visits Hollander after his injury in March… maybe it’s weird, but it made me feel better to think about Hollander having the same injury as me, haha.

I have some big news… I will be moving to Canada soon for a professional opportunity! I will be moving from Switzerland in September. I’ve been so excited (and nervous!!!) that I haven’t been able to eat or sleep for days, so I typed up this chapter to celebrate.

This one was much more introspective than usual. I guess I’m thinking about how much my life has changed since I moved to Canada from Europe—learning to live in this new country, navigating many (embarassing) cultural differences, and trying to earn my place in my new team. I maybe projected a little onto Rozanov. It’s definitely had its ups and downs, but I am hopeful that 2020 will be a good year.

It’s the 6 year anniversary of this fic! I can’t believe I’ve been writing it for so long. Even though I’m not super fast or consistent about posting, I’m so grateful that so many of you have stuck along for the ride.

In a big coincidence, I received some very great news today about my professional opportunity in Canada. I will be staying full time for the foreseeable future!

To celebrate, I got maybe a little too drunk last night with my teammates and accidentally deleted this whole chapter without knowing it when I got home. Thankfully, I was able to recover it this morning by restoring the previous version. Now my head hurts.

    I binged this whole fic in one sitting and by god I think i;m ascending to heaven. THE WAY YOU WRITE SHANE AND ILYA yesssss thank you for the food. Obsessed with your take on their characters. When Ilya grabs Shane’s face and forces them to make eye contact… MORE OF THAT PLEASE. Blessed by the gods. THE CONFESSION!!! The buildup was so good and the payoff was sooooo satisfying. The way you write Shane’s inner monologue while he listens to ilya… I think my heart was going to burst out of my chest.

    MMMM your prose is so yummy you just have such a way with words. I think I saw you say somewhere that english isn’t your first language. Which is so crazy bc you’re SUCH a good writer but at the same time the ‘english isn’t my first language’ always means you’re about to read the most beautiful writing of all time. This is no different. You are so talented and I hope you write for a million years more. Stuffing your fic down my throat and running away with it.

PLEASE READ

Hi everyone,

This may come as a surprise, but I have decided that I will no longer be updating this story. In one month’s time, I will be deleting this account and all of the stories I’ve written here. While I’ve absolutely treasured all of my interactions with you all, I’ve decided that it’s time to move onto a new stage of my life and I can no longer be associated with these fics.

This is both due to recent events surrounding Rozanov and Hollander, as well as changes in my professional life that would make it very uncomfortable for me if my colleagues were to find this information.
