in this fic, shane and ilya definitely played the year they got drafted so their rookie season is 2009-2010. the contract structure I have is that both of them signed their 3yr elc until 2011-12. after that, ilya signed a 6 year deal with the bears until 17-18 and shane signed a 9 year deal with the metros until 20-21. the biggest free agency move in 2018 was tavares signing a 7x11m contract with the leafs. the islanders offered 8x11 and the sharks reportedly offered tavares 7x13. ilya, as written, is a much better player than tavares so him taking a 4x11.25 would be pretty mind-boggling reactions to ilya testing free agency and signing in ottawa are a combination of reactions online to: Evgeni Malkin (PIT) tests free agency (#isurvivedcontractgate) John Tavares signs with TOR Connor McDavid signs 2x12.5 with EDM Johnny Gaudreau signs with CBJ (rip johnny and matthew gaudreau <3)

Now, for the first time, Rozanov returned to Boston on the wrong side of the ice, wearing an Ottawa Centaurs jersey having left the Bears during free agency in the summer. It was brutal. The next nine years had Bears fans elated, watching a superstar emerge. Rozanov had 377 goals and 374 assists for 751 points in 679 games with the Bears. ESPN Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander to start joint charity foundation Greg Tremblay, December 7, 2018 OTTAWA â â Ottawa Centaurs forward Ilya Rozanov and Montreal Metros captain Shane Hollander will be working together for the foreseeable future. The two players said in a statement that they would be establishing a joint charitable organization called The Irina Foundation. The charityâs purpose is to raise money and awareness for organizations that support mental illness and suicide. In the press conference, Rozanov revealed that it was named in honor of his late mother, Irina Rozanova, who battled depression without help for many years and died by suicide when Ilya was a child. âI loved my mother,â he said, visibly emotional. âShe was so kind and beautiful. But she was so sad.â Rozanov and Hollander have been pitted as rivals ever since they were drafted first and second overall in 2009. Being drafted to two original six teams where the franchises themselves also have history, Boston and Montreal, has only added to the storyline, which is why the two of them creating this foundation was such a surprise. âIlya and I have been competing against each other for over nine seasons. A lot has been said, and written, about our rivalry. But I donât say enough how much I respect Ilya, not only as one of the best players in the NHL, but as a person. Fuck, I can't believe he walked away from 8x13 from Boston a cup contender, and took a cut to go to a shit team??? Makes no sense at all. The contract itself is weird. The term is four years. Is it meant to be a bridge contract? Itâs set to expire in the summer of 2022 season. The only thing I can think of is that Shane Hollanderâs contract expires the season before that in summer of 2021. Is he hoping for Hollander to set the market price and argue for more money then? But Rozanov is already a superstar. He doesnât need to wait another four years to ask for insane money. He could ask now and every team would shit themselves trying to pay him. And then 11.25M. Thatâs a fucking steal, especially since Weber is being paid 13M and heâs nowhere NEAR the level of Rozanov. Nilsson is making 10M and if Nilsson can ask for 10M then Rozanov can ask for 14M. Hell, earlier I was not happy with the idea of Rozanov signing a massive contract with the Bears but 4x11.25?? I would sign him to that in a heartbeat and then kiss his feet in thanks. For a bridge contract, I expected Rozanov to ask for maybe a 4x14M and wasnât even going to be surprised or mad if it went higher than that. This contract is insane. Four years, this is a bridge/rental contract that I'd typically expect to see a high-value player sign with a contender and attempt to win a cup within that window. Why the hell would he sign with Ottawa then? Ottawa ended last in the entire league. Their record was godawful. The fact that they struggled to get 20 wins in the season is justâŚwow. This is even worse than Coloradoâs disastrous 16-17 season where they had only 22 wins. Heck, in that same 16-17 season, Ottawa was down there too, ending second to last to Colorado and actively tanking. They have been historically bad. They have not made the playoffs in five seasons now. Rozanov knew this. Everyone knew this. I donât see them getting better in the foreseeable future at all. Unless they somehow magically obtain Shane Hollander next season, Ottawa will probably remain last in the league for a few more years. Rozanov obviously wasnât looking for a cup contender team since he chose the Centaurs. why the hell would he not stay in Boston? Even if he just wanted to wait until Hollander fetches a huge re-extension with the Metros so he can use it to negotiate, then why wouldnât he just sign the bridge with a contender and still try for a cup on the bridge? The Bears ended third in the Atlantic this season, and are currently battling it out with the New York Admirals in the second round of the playoffs. You got to think that if Rozanov stayed in Boston they would be favorites to win the cup. Maybe a locker room thing? If it was just for a change of scenery, why would he go to the worst team in the league? If he didnât want Boston, other contenders like SF, Vancouver, and even Buffalo wouldâve been a good choice. I know they offered pretty monster contracts to him, so what was so special about Ottawa's offer that he took that over anything else? Rozanovâs performance slightly dropped but that was to be expected, playing on a bad team like the Centaurs. But it was still very good, averaging just under a point-per-game, ending 27th overall in the league in points. Rookie Luca Haas had a decent season, with 45 points. Goalie Wyatt Hayes had a breakthrough year after getting traded to Ottawa in December, posting a 0.918 SV% with a 2.97 GAA and a surprising 2.81GSAx. But he wasnât this good before he was traded. So what else does Ottawa have? Outside of rookie Haas, himself, and Iâll even throw in the possibility that Rozanov could see in the future and saw that Wyatt Hayes became an absolute wall this season, thereâs literally no one else. Thatâs it. No other players really stand out. Maybe a decent defenseman or two but their forward core is not good. I could maybe understand if he wanted to be the star player and personally drag Ottawa through a rebuild, but he already was a star player in Boston. In fact, itâs probably worse to be in Ottawa than in Boston for hockey in general. Boston fans are passionate for sure, but playing for a Canadian team is a whole different ballpark. In Boston, at least youâre winning most of the time. In Ottawa, with this record, Iâm not surprised if we see some riots. Itâs not his hometown, like TJâs situation a few years ago. I couldnât find any connection between Ottawa and Rozanov. No family ties either. I tried to come up with some hockey calls (e.g. Mike Langeâs calls) and hockey nicknames like the Red Czar, Razer, etc. for the tribute transcript. There is an art to calling a sport and I respect the hell out of all of you that do it!! 2018-19 schedule mainly matches the Ottawa Senatorsâ 2018-19 fall schedule. CBC Luca Haas on playing with childhood idol Ilya Rozanov, second year in the MLH Written by Macklyn Charles, April 17, 2020 Itâs hard to believe for a lot of MLH fans, but Ilya Rozanov has been in the league for 11 seasons now. Considered a veteran at this point, there are now players in the league that grew up watching and idolising him. 2018 second overall pick Luca Haas was one of those young players. âI had a poster of [Rozanov] in his hockey gear on my wall as a kid,â he said with a sheepish smile. âHe was one of my idols growing up, so for sure itâs really special to be able to play with him.â âHeâs was a shy kid at first,â alternate captain Zane Boodram said describing Haas. âHe had a serious celebrity crush on Razer when he first got here. It was hilarious. He practically worshipped Razer and everyone knew it.â When Haas heard this, he groaned and covered his face with his hand. âGod, it really was embarrassing. When I first went to Rozyâs house on Halloween my rookie year, I was so amazed. They chirped me about it for ages.â Captain Ilya Rozanov had a big grin on his face when he heard this and recalled, âI remember he call me Mr. Rozanov first time we speak.â Haas is Swiss, and has admitted to struggling to adapt in his rookie year. Now in his second year, he said he is feeling much more comfortable and settled in. âYeah, I actually talked to Rozy about [adjusting to being in Canada] in the gym once. I was scared to talk to him at first,â he said with a laugh. âBut Ottawa has really become my home and it reminds me of where I grew up. Rozy and a lot of my other teammates had a big part in helping me feel more at home.â And he has really grown into his role here. Haas had 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) in his 2018-19 rookie year. Now at the end of his second season, he saw a significant increase in points, ending with 62 points (24 goals, 38 assists) in 82 games. Haas said he attributes a lot of his progress to Rozanov. âI know a lot of people hate him because he acts so cocky, but a lot of people actually donât know how hard he works. Anytime I have any questions, he doesnât hesitate to stay on the ice to work on my one-timer or skating skills after practice. Just seeing how hard he works makes me want to work harder,â Haas said. âHeâs a really good teammate. Iâm really lucky I had him as a rookie. Itâs been hard playing on a team with a losing record like ours this year, Iâm not used to that. And Iâm sure Rozy isnât either, but he definitely lightens the room up and makes sure that weâre all grounded. Like, he makes stupid bets at practice and doesn't follow through when he loses. Backy is like the captain of fining Rozy; he always makes sure he gets his push-ups done or it's a fine. All that kind of stuff. Iâm sure heâs got a lot of pressure on himself, but he's definitely helped, you know, kind of team bonding and spirit.â Rozanovâs big personality, especially in his younger years on the Boston Bears, and his on- ice antics made him the prime target for hate from other fanbases. His skills were undeniable, but his slightly dirty playstyle and chirping skills made him a pest on the ice. It certainly seems like his personality has not changed on the Centaurs. Boodram said, âThe thing about Rozy is that heâs such a big pest on the ice and in the media and you think off-ice heâs normal. No. Itâs all real. Heâs actually so f-------, oh s----, sorry I didnât mean to curse. Heâs so d--- annoying. You really hate him until heâs on your team. The past is in the past and I f------- love playing with the guy.â The Ottawa Centaurs were eliminated from playoff contention last month, marking six seasons in a row, despite signing superstar Rozanov and drafting Haas in 2018. When asked about missing the playoffs for the second year in a row, Haas said, âI mean, it sucks. Itâs tough when weâre losing and weâre not happy but we do a good job trying to regroup and move onto the next one. But yeah, not fun.
